21.01.2022 Before I begin - you do not have to unfollow or unfriend me if you have a different perspective than I do, but feel free to do so if you want. We are all adults here and can remain respectful when we address each other. At the end of the day, everyone wants to be healthy and happy, so we all have the same goal in mind, but we may disagree on how to achieve it. I am concerned that people are being labelled conspiracy theorists simply because they question certain gover...Continue reading

18.01.2022 Scary hey??? But let’s get organised NOW!!!
18.01.2022 Think a cashless society... no cash sounds good? Convenient? Much easier? A number of locals opened a bank account with our local ANZ because it was ‘local’ and convenient. Before even banking any cash, the branch closed "temporarily" due to COVID. A few weeks later they get a letter stating it's permanently closed because it was surplus to needs as most banking is now online. In the local shopping centre, another bank is closed for the same reason. I think suncorp. It's happ...Continue reading

17.01.2022 It’s the time of year when your hairdresser begins to unravel.. we look good on the floor but out the back we are overwhelmed and stressed... #pleasebekindtoushairdressers
17.01.2022 Today is Woman’s equality day. Although we are still fighting for true equality, we should be grateful to the women that came before us and fought so our voices can be heard.
17.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the sudden lockdown I am unable to honour any appointment for this week. If I haven’t made contact with you yet to reschedule please hang tight I’m slowly getting to everyone

15.01.2022 Just because we get older doesn’t mean we need to let ourselves go
15.01.2022 Super grateful thanks to all of you this has been a very different, trying and weird year. Some industries and businesses have not returned from lockdown and I’m super grateful that you all stuck by me and my little business through it all... looking towards the new year with a better view #2021dontbeabitch
15.01.2022 I really would hate for anyone to be disappointed, but unfortunately there is only 1 of me and although I always do my best to accommodate everyone’s need it’s not always possible
14.01.2022 As my last days in my home salon has now come to an end, I would just like to thank each and every one of my loyal clients that have supported me throughout one of my toughest years as a hairdresser. Without you all I may not have made it through the way I have. As you may already be aware( my god I’ve posted it enough on my socials ) I’m going to be slowing down a bit next year and trying not to work 6 days a week Please check my online bookings for availabilitie...s in 2021 otherwise msg me to arrange appointments Have a safe Christmas and a happy new year with all of your loved ones. The salon will be closed until 4th January 2021 @ 9:30am. Grateful for all of you and look forward to a truely spectacular 2021 Peta
14.01.2022 So in 2021 I will be 60 so that also means on 16th January I’ve been standing behind the hairdresser chair almost constantly ( bar a combined 12 month down time after having 5 babies) for 45year so I’ve promised the people that love me that next year will see a change.. I’ve spent 45 years putting my clients first and never saying NO but the time has come to change my priorities.( becoming a grandparent does that) so below are the list of a few change that will start as o...f when I come back from my Xmas break on 4 th January. 1/ I wil NOT be taking on any NEW clients at my home salon in North Harbour should you wish to see me as a new client you can catch up with me at Maxines Haircare in Kallangur. I’m there Tuesday & Wednesday ( should you want the address or phone number just give me a shout) 2/ I will only be working on alternate Saturday so I can align with my husbands weekends that he doesn’t work... I will post some dates in the new year so there is some options available. I will also set up my online bookings so you’ll be unable to book a Saturday that I’m not working. 3/ this next one I tried to phase in gently this year but it didn’t work in my favour I will no longer be doing any late night or after hrs clients... it’s becoming more and more difficult to front up to work everyday after putting in a 12-14 hr day the day before so 4:30 pm will be the latest for any colour work and 5:30 for smaller jobs likes cuts. What has become very obvious to me is that my clients who book in advance ( like one lady has done 5 weekly rotations for the whole of 2021 so her Xmas next year is already booked) are the ones who aren’t missing out this year. most of you have a regular booking pattern of some sort so if you want to booked ahead into next year just give me a msg or next time your in we can work out 1/2 doz appointments in advance. I’d also like to say a huge THANKYOU to all of you my beautiful clients who have become great friends your loyalty to me is much appreciated... please feel free to msg should you have and questions or concern regarding the above post. 13.01.2022 *REPOST This makes you re evaluate things For all you self employed out there. ... A customer asked me how much I would charge to paint his two story foyer. My reply: $1500 His reply: WOW, just to paint a couple walls? Why so much? My reply: Well, this estimate also includes for the non productive factors. He questioned: What is nonproductive factors?" My reply: Just the usually things like taxes, insurance, rent, fuel etc, etc. I asked: How much do you think it should cost? He responded matter-of-factly: Around $800 at the most... It's just painting and a fairly simple job right? I calmly said: Okay sir, for $800 I invite you to do it yourself. He said: But.... I don't know how to. I replied: Okay, for $800 I'll teach you. So besides saving you $700, you'll get the knowledge for the next time. It seemed right to him and he agreed. I continued: To get started you will need tools, drops, ladders, scaffolds, brushes, poles etc... He said: But I don't have all this type of equipment and I can't afford to buy all of these things just to paint my foyer. I offered: Okay then, for an additional $200 I'll rent my equipment to you. Okay, he says. I replied: So on Tuesday I will be available to start teaching you. He said: But I can't on Tuesday I only have time today. I said: I'm sorry sir, but Tuesday is the only day this week that I will be available to teach and rent you my equipment. The rest of the week is already scheduled for other customers. He exclaimed frustated: Damn! That means I gotta rearrange my schedule and sacrifice my whole Tuesday?! I said: That is correct sir! I will also provide you with a list of all the materials you will need to go to the store and purchase for this job. Also, loading of the van for your job will take place Tuesday morning around 6am. After the project is complete, all equipment and tools need to be cleaned and reloaded back onto the van. He asked in disbelief: At 6am??? Nope! Way too early for me! So much work just to do a little bit of painting! You know what, I've been doing some serious thinking and I've decided that it would be best if you just went ahead and did the job for me. $1500 seems fair now and I'd rather it be done right by true professionals. The moral of the story for any buyer: When you hire a professional to do a job, you're not only paying for the labor and material being used. It also includes: Knowledge Experience Tools Services Punctuality Accountability Professionalism Accuracy Guarantee Sacrifices Safety and security No one can denigrate other people's work by judging prices. Only by knowing all the elements necessary to complete a certain project can you estimate the true cost. Copy and Share this everywhere to support craftsmen and entrepreneurs of all types.

12.01.2022 Botox typically costs $200-400 for a 30 minute appt and nobody blinks an eye. Lips? $600-$800. 30 min appt. Tattoos? $60-$1000. ... Hairstylist spends 2-5 hours on a clients hair and charges $300 and everyone looses their marbles. Why though? It’s your HAIR. Do you know how much the products cost? The foils? The color? Back bar? Brushes? Then experience and time? To all you hair stylists charging your worth, I support you, good job. #supportyourhairdresser
11.01.2022 It's just hair - I was a part of your wedding. It's just hair - I was your child's first haircut. It's just hair - I was there for your first date. It's just hair - I was there for their funeral. It's just hair- I was there for your graduation.... It's just hair- I was there when you didn't like the way you looked. It's just hair- when you got offered your dream job and nobody else knew but me and you! It's just hair- when you met the person of your dreams and they told you they loved you for the very first time! It's just hair- when all you wanted in the whole world is a hug from your hair stylist because you knew they'd give it to you with open arms! It's just hair- when you lost your job and didn't know what you were going to do. It's just hair- when you were getting a divorce and just needed to feel better about yourself. It's just hair- when you had a terrible day and looked forward to being able to vent without being judged. It's just hair- when you are about to go on vacation and can't wait to tell me all about it on your next visit. It's just hair - when you were expecting your first child. And I was a safe person to be able to tell. It's not "just hair" Never has been and never will be!

03.01.2022 Well it’s time to make it official... I'll be hanging up the scissors and looking after my final clients in my home salon in North Harbour on 3rd July 2021, after that I will ONLY be working at Maxines’s As many of you may know we decided a few months back to sell our house and downsize.( now that all our chicks have left home) Unfortunately that means my beautiful little salon is no longer For those that would like to continue to have me look after you and your hair ...I will be working at Maxines Haircare @ Kallangur on a Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, I will be doing the odd Monday but by absolute appointment only and only for those who I have pre arranged an appointment on a Monday. I will be doing some late night appointments but only to accommodate my WORKING ladies, the late appointments will only be available to a select few who I know work and usually come on a Saturday, I will continue to operate how I did at home and prebook all future appointments. If you have a query or quest in regard to how things will role for your individual situation send me a msg and we can work through options that work best for you and your circumstances.. I want you to all know how much I appreciate you. My clients are the greatest people in the world and I'm lucky to have been able to spend my days hanging out with you. I think of you all as friends which has made this decision even harder. This is the scariest thing I've ever done but eventually I guess you reach a time where it’s time to do the things with your life that working flat out 6 days a week for 50 odd years has never allowed you the time to do. I can't thank you enough for your support!!! You guys make every day in the salon a big bag of fun and I'm so thankful for that. If you would like to continue to have me look after you hair just reach out and I’ll pass on the relevant information for Maxines(address, phone number ect). Otherwise when your at home for you next appointment we can book you in at Maxines moving forward. Thanks so much for you understanding and support. yes it will be a bit hectic for a bit but moving forward life should get calmer Look forward to catching up at Maxines
