25.01.2022 An urgent matter has presented itself that required all of our attention. Please refer to the attached letter below. The letter is in support of boarding kennels and Doggy Day cares being considered essential services during the Covid lockdowns in NSW and VIC. We urge you all to send to your local state members to help support our colleges in need. Our group supports all Australian Boarding Kennels and Day Care Facilities and also lobby for our commercial rights. Feel free... to sign your own names at bottom or leave ours, whichever you prefer. Also you are welcome to change the opening address to your local members details. Thanks for your time again.

14.01.2022 We are sure everyone is up to date with the government’s latest announcement to extend the Job Keeper payments, which has come as a great relief to us all. A number of key Pet Care Advocate team members have expressed how much of an impact this will have on their businesses, with the continuation of the payments translating to being able to remain operating during this Covid-19 pandemic. If you have not had a chance to read the latest factsheet, you can access it via this lin...k: https://treasury.gov.au//Fact_sheet-JobKeeper_Payment_exte Please remember that if your business is still significantly affected by the travel restrictions but you don’t fit the exact criteria that the government has laid out for Jobkeeper extensions, you can always take your case to the commissioner, and have your business considered for the Job Keepers continuation. One of our members consulted their personal accountant on this matter, and the advice was that they had seen success with previous alternative tests used (such as the decline in turnover test where clients did not meet the initial criteria) by sending a request in writing to the commission. Specifically, the latest Jobkeeper Extension Fact Sheet states: The Commissioner of Taxation will have discretion to set out alternative tests where an employee’s or business participant’s hours were not usual during the February 2020 reference period. So please speak to your own accountants to ensure you are getting everything you can to help you through these difficult times.

13.01.2022 What’s Next? The next major endeavour for our group is to ensure that our voices are part of the conversation when it comes to any legislative changes within the pet care industry. It has become apparent that parliamentarians and other passionate animal activist groups (such as the Animal Justice League) are strongly advocating for major changes to our industry, whereby the proposed codes of practice would have significant and detrimental effects on our business operations. 04.01.2022 The intensions of this group are to unite our voice as business operators in the pet boarding and day care industry. Our aim is simply to reach all those in the Pet Care and Boarding industry within Australia and give everyone the opportunity to join our mailing list to stay up to date with relevant industry information. In the last few weeks alone, we have reached 170 members Australia wide, which speaks volumes to the fact that we need a common voice in our industry to support all our businesses during these unprecedented times

04.01.2022 Since creating this group, we have taken action to provide a letter template to support the Jobkeeper extensions and ensure that our industry is recognised as being heavily affected. The next major endeavour for our group is to ensure that our voices are part of the conversation when it comes to any legislative changes within the pet care industry. It has become apparent that parliamentarians and other passionate animal activist groups are strongly advocating for major changes to our industry, whereby the proposed codes of practice would have significant and detrimental effects on our business operations. Significant overhaul could cause significant economic changes in how our businesses operate, and we are in the process of receiving a detailed briefing on the most urgent matters to be addressed in the near future.
