24.01.2022 Out of respect to Anzac Day we didn't post this yesterday however we would like to acknowledge World Veterinary Day 2020 (last Saturday of April every year). It's hard work, but very rewarding <3
24.01.2022 Just a short note to let you know that our clinic is OPEN for all your pet needs. At the present time, youre still able to make appointments for all routine check-ups, vaccinations, and surgery. Please call one of our friendly Woodville clinic staff on 8268 6777 if we can be of assistance. If youre lucky, you might meet resident cat, Mumma, pictured! #petdoctorvet #adelaidevet #mummacat
23.01.2022 Have you met @petdoctorvet Auntie Deb? Youll often see her helping out around the clinic. Shes always ready to give your beloved pet a cuddle, kiss and belly scratch too, just like she did recently with #frenchbulldog Opal, and #americanstaffordshirebullterrier Zuko. #petdoctorvet #adelaidevet #dogsofinstagram #dogs #animals #petsofinstagram #petlovers #weloveyourpets #dogcuddles #dogkisses #dogbellyrub #veterinarian #petdoctor #auntiedeb
23.01.2022 Grooming or massage? We think @petdoctorvet cat, Vincent, rather enjoyed himself with Aunty Debs unique grooming technique. **Warning** This is not normal cat behaviour! Please do not try this with your cat. Vincent is one of a kind and loves to get under the vacuum brush at any opportunity. #petdoctor #petdoctorvet #veterinarian #adelaidevet #vetcat #vincent #auntydeb #catmassage #catgrooming #welovecats #catlovers #cat #catlover
21.01.2022 Our dearest Pet Doctor clients, please be advised that we are currently undergoing maintenance on our website and it is temporarily unavailable. For any enquires or bookings, please contact the clinic on 8268 6777. We will let you know once we are back up and running as normal! We appreciate your patience and understanding.... Love the Pet Doctor team!
20.01.2022 We dont want to clog your feed with more messages about COVID-19, but in the interests of everyones safety we do need to ask that you take note of the following changes: - Only one person is to accompany each pet in the clinic. All other guests are respectfully asked to wait in the car and not linger outside. Please also maintain a safe distance between staff and clients. - We encourage you to call us when you arrive and wait in your car with your pet. Once... we are ready to see you, we will call or text you to come into the clinic. This will assist in providing appropriate social distancing in our waiting room. - If you are running late for your appointment, please let us know at your earliest opportunity so we can manage this. - Pet food is only available to current clients in the standard quantity that they usually purchase. In the interests of fairness, bulk purchasing is not permitted. - If required we are happy to bring food and other orders to your car rather than you coming into the clinic. We will ensure the necessary protective measures are used during this process. Please call one of our friendly staff to place and pay for your order and advise when you expect to be able to collect. - Contactless payment methods are preferred over cash. - Please dont put our staff, their families, other clients and our clinic at risk by visiting us if you are selfisolating or symptomatic with COVID-19. Please call us and we will work with you to make an appropriate plan. Moreover, if you become symptomatic after recently visiting our clinic, please notify us as soon as possible. Its important that you keep up with your pets health regime. We are doing our utmost to maintain the wellbeing of your animals during this time and we are here when you need us. #petdoctorvet #adelaidevet
20.01.2022 Late last year we introduced you to Tayla, our work experience student from Mount Carmel College. We are thrilled to announce that Tayla is now an official employee, and the youngest member, of the Pet Doctor family! She has big aspirations, is very hard-working and an extremely valued member of our team. Her caring nature and bright personality always brightens up our day. Tayla's parents love the responsibility and structure that working at Pet Doctor brings, but wish she would learn to make her bed in the morning! Thanks to Taylas dad for the very creative pic of Tayla and one of Pet Doctors team members. #petdoctorvet #adelaidevet

17.01.2022 @friendlydogcollars speak for your dog and let others know its nature and temperament in advance. Inspired by the traffic light system: Green = Friendly, Yellow = Nervous, Red = Caution, it allows others to take the necessary steps to safely approach your dog or avoid it and provide the space it needs. Friendly Dog Collars are now in stock and available to purchase at our Pet Doctor Woodville clinic. #petdoctorvet #adelaidevet #friendlydogcollars

12.01.2022 A few days ago we had to say goodbye to a very dear friend of ours, Vietnam Vet Vincent. Vinnie wandered into the Pet Doctor family about 2 years ago and snuck his way into our hearts very quickly. He was often seen challenging Mat's pooches, was well known for his incredibly tolerant personality - even when being blasted with a hairdryer - and was just generally a gentle, kind soul. Thank you for your walking into our lives Vinnie, how lucky are we to have known you. ... Vinnie has been buried at the practice in the garden opposite the back door, don't forget to say hello when you next come through
11.01.2022 Thunderstorms arent fun for everyone, especially our furry family members. Anxiety affects 1:3 dogs and it is a real and common phobia that can be triggered by events like thunderstorms. We can help them through this by:... - Bringing them inside. Please dont leave them outside to suffer alone. - Give them a calm, quiet zone indoors where they feel comfortable and safe. - Speak to them in a soothing voice and tell them it will be ok. - Often playing soft music can help. - Anti-anxiety medication is available and is successful in helping scared dogs. Speak with one of our friendly nurses about Trazadone* medication to reduce their anxiety and fear. *Please note Trazadone cannot be sold over the counter. A health and behavioural consultation will be required prior to dispensing this medication. Take a tip from Pet Doctors dog, Bronson, who suffers from anxiety and is particularly scared of loud noises. He felt much better being inside and rugged up in our staff hoodie during todays thunderstorm. #petdoctorvet #adelaidevet #dogsofinstagram #doganxiety
10.01.2022 Vaccination is Important - Even if Your Pet Stays Indoors. There are a number of highly contagious, serious, and fatal diseases that dogs and cats can come into contact with from other animals or their environment. All dogs in Australia should be vaccinated against the three main diseases: Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, and Canine Parvovirus. Other diseases like Canine Cough should be considered too.... All cats in Australia should be vaccinated against: Feline Respiratory Disease (Cat Flu), Feline Parvovirus, and Feline Leukemia. Its important to talk to your veterinarian about your pets lifestyle. Factors such as contact with other animals, indoors versus outdoors, and time spent travelling or boarding all affect your pets risk of exposure to disease. Importantly, some diseases are spread on contaminated footwear and other objects, so people can transmit disease even if their pet doesnt leave the house. We recommend that your pet be protected against diseases which are the most common, easily spread, and cause serious illness. Additional vaccines may be recommended depending on your pets risk factors for other diseases. Please call our friendly Pet Doctor team on 8268 6777 to make an appointment to vaccinate your pet. Covid-19 safety protocols are in place. The best protection and prevention against disease is vaccination. #petdoctorvet #adelaidevet #vaccinateyourpets #dogsofinstagram #catsofinstagram

06.01.2022 Beautiful Bernie, a six year old Japanese Spitz, has an incurable condition called Megaoesophagus, where food is regurgitated due to a dilated oesophagus and the ability to control swallowing is lost. One way to avoid this is to make sure that every time Bernie eats or drinks anything he sits for at least 30 minutes afterwards or is held in a sitting up or begging position. @petdoctorvet nurse Angela had an ingenious and simple suggestion to utilise a baby seat and tray. It's working a treat for Bernie and his owner. 06.01.2022 With the recent lockdown of @zoos_sa Adelaide and Monarto Zoos due to Covid-19 restrictions, the animals have been withdrawn and missing the visitors they people-watched on a daily basis. @petdoctorvet Lauren and Mat wanted to do something to help so they decided to take matters into their own hands and buy @zoos_sa everything off their wish list... and more! One of the items sent was goat horns for the hyenas. Even though they each got one it still wasnt enough! Watch them running around with their treats. 05.01.2022 You may have recently heard that since the lockdowns imposed by Covid-19, the animals at the Adelaide Zoo have been quite depressed and become withdrawn. They miss people-watching and hearing the sounds and excitement from the people and families that visit. @petdoctorvet has collaborated with Adelaide Zoo and it is very exciting! Stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, enjoy these super-cute pics of the Zoo's Quokka, Kinta, which is the Indigenous word for laughter, and one of Pet Doctor's staff. This lovely and very unexpected surprise cuddle occurred earlier this week when Pet Doctor visited the Zoo and made a very special delivery. 05.01.2022 This little dependent and innocent soul lost his mumma when some heartless human hit her with their car and kept on driving. He is very lucky to be alive thanks to @petdoctorvet Mats hawk-like eyes and Laurens animal husbandry knowledge. The locals in Mannum were an amazing bunch of people and helped get him a carer within minutes of Mat and Lauren contacting them.... This beautiful boy has been named Barkley. Since being with an amazing carer/new mum in Mannum, he has put on 450g! Mat & Lauren from @petdoctorvet have also personally covered all necessary costs to care for and maintain his survival, including the donation of #wombaroo Kangaroo Milk Replacer and teats. 03.01.2022 @petdoctorvet Lauren and Tayla recently enjoyed a well-deserved mental health day in the country. They got to breathe clean, fresh air, meet two very cute and photogenic goats and share in their love of motorbike riding. Good mental health is essential to everyone, but particularly those in the veterinary profession. Its tragic to know that those in our beloved industry are four times more likely to fall victim to suicide than the general population. This rate is double that... of other health care professionals including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and dentists. @petdoctorvet encourages a positive and supportive workplace. 02.01.2022 Easter is a time when we indulge in delicious treats, but do you know which ones are toxic and potentially fatal to your pet? Read below to learn more. Chocolate Chocolate contains cocoa and cocoa contains the compound Theobromine which is toxic to pets like dogs and cats. The toxicity of Theobromine is dose-related, meaning that the overall effect of chocolate ingestion depends on the size of the pet and the amount and type of chocolate consumed.... The symptoms of chocolate poisoning will be seen within hours of ingestion and include vomiting, diarrhoea, increased drinking and urination, restlessness, hyperactivity, nervousness, trembling, increased heart rate, muscle tremors, seizures and possibly death. Whilst chocolate poisoning can usually be treated by vets, its not pleasant, will result in a hospital stay, and sometimes, despite the vets very best efforts, the pet cannot be saved. Please ensure that you and your children NOT give your pets any chocolate, and also make sure your pets cant accidentally access any of your Easter treats. Grapes, Raisins, & Sultanas Grapes, raisins and sultanas are common ingredients in Easter treats like hot cross buns, but did you know they can cause acute kidney failure in some dogs? Symptoms to look out for include vomiting, diarrhoea, increased drinking and urination, pain, disinterest in food and depression. An extra cuddle, play or walk is the best thing you can give your pets this Easter. IMPORTANT: If you suspect that your pet has consumed any of these foods or it is exhibiting any of the above symptoms, please immediately telephone us or, over the Easter long weekend when we are closed, please contact Adelaide Animal Emergency & Referral Centre: 8371 0333 (119 Anzac Highway, Kurralta Park). From all of us at Pet Doctor Woodville & West Lakes, we wish you and your pets a relaxing and safe Easter long weekend. #petdoctorvet #adelaidevet
