Jill, new to the Wednesday morning class. First workings in 7B with a wonderful handle on tone. John (Wednesday evening) reliving the marble statues in Aphrodisias in Turkey in graphite. 24.01.2022 TERM ONE COMPLETED. A taste of some of the finished works. 1. Judy - Wednesday morning. Pursuing a range of portraits in graphite.... 2. Helen - A term where we introduced pastels to the Tuesday afternoon group. We worked on technique and colour matching using just the 3 primary colours, a brown, a violet, plus white. 3 & 4. Sue - same program as Helen. (And then a little inspiration from Vincent) 5. John - Thursday morning. Prismacolour coloured pencil rendering of a section of his lounge (with Billy). And now, the same drawing is to be illuminated by the lamp.

24.01.2022 New Drawings this week. - Rae’s delicate graphite and black pen rendering. - Sue’s still life homage to Matisse in charcoal, pastel and black pen. - Natalie’s 7B rendering. Commencing with a still life, Natalie then brought elements of her own story to the drawing.... See more

22.01.2022 The starting point for all beginners to my classes, TONE, and these are their first tonal works. Each is asked to bring their own background design to the work. These geometric shapes are drawn from a life composition, in an exercise that develops the foundation skills for all future drawing. These are the works of, 1. Kathy 2. Sophie... 3. Craig 4. Judy Love the way each student’s individual style comes through from the earliest drawings.

21.01.2022 Tuesday afternoon’s student group. A still life drawing working in acrylics, watercolour, coloured pencil and collage.

20.01.2022 Vikki - Thursday morning. Graphite pencil and coloured pencil. A large, beautifully rendered triptych of Vikki’s friends performing Tai Chi in a Buderim Park. I love her loose and casual drawing technique.

19.01.2022 10 years ago today, the Doctor and Amy gave Vincent van Gogh the pleasure of seeing his work in a Paris Art Gallery in the year 2010.

17.01.2022 Keeva, a year 6 student just completed this A1 sized, still life in acrylic paint and Chromacryl coloured pencil. Delightful and sensitive mixing of colours, followed by complimentary coloured pencil over the surface. Love it.

17.01.2022 Michelle (Tuesday night) - "Having fun with acrylic/pen & watercolour/pen." Chris (Tuesday afternoon) - "I think I’m finished"... Kathy (Tuesday afternoon) - "Still a bit wet but opted not to put the cellophane on it as too dark and couldn't see drawing."

16.01.2022 When Henri MATISSE joined our Tuesday afternoon drawing group during Term 3. Working from our own studio still life, we followed his journey through colour and pattern. Now for the poetry and joy of Marc CHAGALL.

14.01.2022 And in the final daze of lockdown, you are still creating! Love you guys and your 16 weeks of contributions while Covid prevailed. Hazel (Tuesday afternoon) -"Here's a still life in coloured pencil I did for my daughters makeup area"... Cilla (Wednesday night) -"Van Gogh and cold weather inspired crochet project." Graham (Thursday morning) -Baking bread.

14.01.2022 A week of wonderful variety. From Deidre’s coloured pencil leaf, to Lea’s pen and ink family tribute, to Kath’s large charcoal and pastel drawing of her grandson.

13.01.2022 And Andrea........

06.01.2022 And we’re off!

05.01.2022 Evening Fellow Artists, Our Art classes recommence on , -Tuesday 14th July, -Wednesday 15th July,... -Thursday 16th July. And I’m looking forward to catching up with you all again over stories and art. A few things though. -If you’re uncomfortable about returning just yet, I understand. PLEASE LET ME KNOW and I’m happy to hold your place in the group until you’re ready to return. -If you’ve had a change of heART and aren’t intending to return, PLEASE LET ME KNOW so I can wish you well and organise those on waiting lists. -If your heart is heavy due to the absence of Art in your life, and your busting your 7B to get back, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, so I can organise each of my classes. Now if you’re an artist who paid for the entire first term up front, then I still owe you 2 weeks due to the early cessation of classes. Factor that in please. Otherwise classes are still $22. (if as a result of COVID, things are a little tight, please send me a line. I’d rather have you in my class continuing your drawing journey, than not!) And that’s it folk! Let the fun begin again, Pete

03.01.2022 End of Term 3. More impressive drawings finished this week. Anita - graphite - imaginative setting for her still life. Natalie- black pen - impressive first go at it.... Judy - graphite - simple geometrics in elegant back drop. John - graphite- extremely patient and impressive study of his mate’s back yard. More to come,

02.01.2022 -Our first introduction to drawing is to look at tone. How to make a flat surface look 3D. We look at how light falls on geometric shapes. -Then the real challenge. I ask you to create your own background to this very still composition. The fun begins. -If you learn the guitar, you’re not expected to write your own music first. You play what someone else has composed. - If you’re learning to draw well, then copy other people’s drawings/photos/ideas. As long as you’re not cla...iming them as yours, it’s OK. - Creative originality comes later when you feel you can master the marks you wish to make. -Some great examples this week. -Randall, Kerry, Fiona and Josie.

02.01.2022 Inge (Thursday morning) - "Very close to finishing this piece. Travellers. Fun with rabbits. Lot's of ideas." Cilla (Wednesday night) - "Trying to figure a background. Am thinking maybe grapevine leaves in really shady colours."... Prismacolour pencils. Note-unfinished. John (Thursday morning) - "There were a few technical errors where shadows do and don’t join - fixed them up - and tried to even the tone out here and there." 7B pencil.

01.01.2022 And now for Cilla. A relative newcomer to mark-making, Cilla continually pushes the boundaries of her drawings, using a wide variety of mediums that she’s seen while visiting galleries. Biro, watercolour, coloured pencil, pastel, black pen, and charcoal. She always challenges herself with detailed concepts and themes. (Enlarge the image and look carefully.) Her latest piece in graphite, is titled... The Tosser. (Not all can see it. Walk along the beach sometime to find him!)
