24.01.2022 This is not a work by John Wilson but it’s done using his ideas and principles. Haven’t painted for ages, but with some workshops coming up and a week away with John and other artists it is time to refresh skills. It’s amazing what you forget if you don’t keep practicing-should be every day. I have already started another version of the same scene to see if it can be improved. By the way it’s from a photo taken in Ormiston Gorge west of Alice Springs NT

19.01.2022 Been out today painting with John Wilson and other artists at Brungle Common (near Tumut NSW). Supposed to rain all day. Apart from a short shower it was a near perfect day. 11.01.2022 Making a 2 dimensional surface such as a canvas appear 3 dimensional is the skill of a competent artist. The attached picture is an example of how John Wilson blocks in his paintings to get that 3 dimensional impression right from the start. The greys create the impression of aerial recession.
