17.02.2022 The 2022 calendar reveal for today is November!! Morpeth, Maitland, NSW This was a pretty epic storm chase. I started off driving towards Raymond Terrace, then realised the storm was a bit distant, so I headed to Morpeth. When I got there it was still a bit distant, but I wanted a shot with lightning and the Indian Root Pills shed in it. I persevered for quite a while, until the rain came and forced me into my car. The lightning came shortly later. When the rain eas...ed a bit, but the lightning hadn’t, I was super keen to find a spot from which to shoot more lightning. So cut to a while later the rain eased enough that I found the boat ramp, and set myself up there around midnight. This was probably my best lightning shot of the season. To give an idea of the size of the lightning in this shot, the photo was taken with an ultra wide 15mm lens. 15.02.2022 Revealed today in my calendar is DECEMBER 2022!!! Redhead Beach, Redhead, NSW I was chasing a storm late one afternoon, and was hoping to get some photos with the Redhead Beach shark tower in, from a perspective on the beach. When I got to Redhead, it was starting to rain so I sought cover. When the rain eased, I ran out to the beach and caught the rainbow and spectacular clouds still to be seen. The storm continued out to sea later into the night, as did my photos ;) ... The Bogey Hole, Newcastle, NSW A very popular spot with photographers and swimmers alike, it never fails to surprise me that some Novacastrians haven’t been to this convict-hewn rock pool in King Edward Park! On this morning I captured the sun rising out of bushfire haze, and reflections of the safety chain before swimmers cooled off in this popular historic swimming spot. I love to walk here and hope for good conditions for pho...tos, whether in the water for aquatic life or out of the water for photos like this. How lucky are we in Newcastle to have beaches like this in our inner city, a five minute walk from our CBD! This is different to the other photos in the calendar as it wasn’t taken at dawn, dusk or night. I just want to grab my snorkel, mask, fins and underwater camera and hop in to that calm water!... 17.01.2022 AUGUST 2022 is the calendar reveal for today!!! Horseshoe Beach, Newcastle, NSW I’ve been here quite a few times hoping for a great sunset, and finally got it on this evening. Whilst my partner was fishing, the sunset turned it on, and I captured a few things in this photo - the old rusty machinery, a coal ship, birds flying and a crow. This was a sunset that kept on giving! On this day I was using an older camera of mine, after a mishap with my usual camera whilst shoo...ting night time portraits. 17.01.2022 so stoked to win my first first placing in a photo competition ! this photo involved a 4 hour drive out west to the #warrumbungles and scoping out potential photo opportunities to come back to in the middle of the night whilst staying at the #warrumbunglesmountainmotel for the night.
