14.02.2022 Looking for that new opportunity heading into a new year? This could be it.

04.02.2022 Engineering, meeting challenges one brick at a time....

28.01.2022 Blast Furnace Equaliser & Relief Valve Removal & Installation One of the challenges of an industrial plant is providing suitable means of accessing and removing equipment for repair and maintenance. Often the equipment is bulky and installed within a multi-level structure. A recent task undertaken by one of our Senior Drafters along with BlueScope Crane engineers, was to provide a curved monorail extension to an existing monorail to allow the Equaliser & Relief Valve to be mo...ved through the existing openings in the floor structure. One of the four E & R Valves are removed for refurbishment as part of the maintenance procedures on a rotating basis During initial concept modelling it was evident that the clearance and the amount of manipulation required to remove the valves was not feasible with the monorail extension alone. As a result, it was decided to make a section of a lower monorail, not in general use, removable This required minor alterations to the curved monorail to allow the load to be centered over the new opening and thus allow the load to travel vertically up and down with minimal sideways movements. All connections were also checked and modified as required A simple lifting bracket was also designed to attach to the Valves to ensure they hung vertically when lifted.

23.01.2022 BOS Water Treatment Launder Gantry A new launder and supporting gantry to carry wastewater from the BOS to the water treatment plant at BlueScope Steel for processing and reuse was designed with some enhancements to address issues with the previous design. The new launder is made of stainless-steel with stainless-steel mesh in the bottom. The mesh traps large particulates to form a wear barrier, protecting the launder bottom from abrasion.... Another feature of the design was the use of a bridge-bearing to support one end, which ensured the installation proceeded smoothly with the bridge bearing providing adjustability at existing mounting points. The gantry is 22m long, has a total mass of 12 tonnes, empty, & is 13m above ground level. Because of the location of the gantry the single lift required a 400 Tonne crane with a 36m reach.
