17.01.2022 The beautiful McKenzie Falls after a big dump of rain in The Grampians, Victoria, Australia. Well worth the walk up and down the hill if you get the chance! Very happy to be out using my new NiSi Filters Australia and New Zealand filters and Sirui Australia tripod. Peter Morris Photography... 16.01.2022 The Dragon's Breath. A beautifiul sunrise over The Balconies in The Grampians, Victoria, Australia. Fog rolling through the valley below was amazing to watch as the sun rose and it disappeared. Put this place on your to do list! Peter Morris Photography... 15.01.2022 Skeleton Trees. The setting Milky Way reflected in Lake Toolondo, with the skeletons of old trees that grew before the area was flooded. When I was a kid though, the water was a lot higher than this! It's surprisingly hard to get a good reflection of The Milky Way in a single shot like this, but I think i'm getting better!... 15.01.2022 The Magellanic Clouds. SCIENCE! This seemingly fuzzy section of sky is actual a nearby galaxy, The Large Magellanic Cloud! The Large and Small Clouds are both more easily visible in the Southern Hemisphere, especially in the country. Once thought to be clouds, they were used as navigational aids. Photo taken at Lake Toolondo.... Peter Morris Photography Shot with: Canon Australia 5d MkIII Samyang Optics Australia 14mm f/2.8 AF SIRUI Imaging W 2204 Tripod Single Expo. f2.8, 25seconds exp. 15.01.2022 Galactic Perspective 2. Another view from the old viewing platform of Wannon Falls. Thousands of tons of water crashing over the 30m (100 feet) high cascade, with The Milk Way as a beautiful backdrop.... Again, a single shot that took lots of planning! Let me know what you think! 15.01.2022 The Aussie Arch. Mornington beach boxes under the night sky, the Aussie one is my favourite. The Milky Way is almost gone from the night sky for the year and will be missed until about Feb next year. Light pollution makes night photography in some places very difficult but I think it adds a bit of character to this one. Peter Morris Photography... 12.01.2022 Waves crash around Pulpit Rock at Cape Schanck, Victoria, Australia. The Milky Way rising over Bass Strait, on a cold winters night. 10.01.2022 Snow and Peace I don’t just take photos of the night sky! Sometimes I like to put on a pair of cross country skis and hit the trails for a peaceful day in the snow. I took these photos on the trails this year at Lake Mountain. The Australian alpine regions are beautiful! Let's all try to keep them that way. Peter Morris Photography... 07.01.2022 Nigretta. Nigretta Falls is a multiple cascade waterfall in Western Victoria, which like Wannon Falls (further downstream) carries water from The Grampians on it's way out to the ocean. This photo taken in August shows the falls in full flow. Again, this is a single shot, taken the same night I visited Wannon Falls in August 2019.... I've got a few other things planning for this site, stay tuned! 06.01.2022 Galactic Perspective. The raging 30m (100 feet) high Wannon Falls look tiny compared to the vast Milky Way stretching across the Australian country sky. I love how being here, and seeing this, makes me realise just how small and unique we are. ... Believe it or not this isn't photoshop, both photos are single shots (because I'm a purist like that!). I had this shot in mind for months, and after careful planning I had a very narrow window to aim for to get this shot. It made the 1000km round trip worth it when I saw this photo pop up on my camera. Let me know what you think! 04.01.2022 Nature's Mirror Give yourself 20 seconds to relax and watch the world turn. Over 4 hours, The Milky Way silently covers the sky, and sinks into the waters of Lake Toolondo with Venus leading the way. ...
