22.01.2022 PMACS ALUMNI, HENRY WARNER (CLASS OF 2016) // As we celebrate National Science Week this week with the theme of Deep Blue we were elated to see in this mornings West Australian (page 7) Peter Moyes Alumni, Henry Warner. Henry and his friends were praised for their bravery, rescuing a sea turtle that had become tangled in a net. Despite the risk of blue bottles and rocks- not to mention very chilly water, Henry and his friends used knives to cut the turtle free. They then carried the heavy turtle from the rocks near Rosslare Park to Mindarie Marina and released it, returning to the water to retrieve the netting that risked the turtles life. Well done Henry!

Join us on Tuesday 10th November in the Allan Shaw Centre Auditorium for a night of fantastic performances. Doors open at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start.
19.01.2022 ZERO TO HERO // On Thursday 3 August a group of Year 9s attended the Zero 2 Hero In Your Head Annual Youth Mental Health Forum for Young People at Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre . They joined hundreds of students from schools across Western Australia to listen to keynote presentations and panel discussions with mental health leaders. They also participated in interactive workshops to sample different ways of maintaining positive mental health and gain skills to support their well-being.
19.01.2022 INTER-HOUSE ATHLETICS CARNIVAL WINNERS ANNOUNCED // The Middle & Senior School Inter-House Athletics Carnivals were held at the end of Week 3 in fine weather. Congratulations to Hollows House who won the 2020 Inaugural Overall Inter-House Athletics Championship Cup. Both Athletics Carnivals were held in a great spirit and the competition on the day was fantastic to see as students competed in the House Colours for the Middle, Senior and inaugural Overall House Athletics Champ...ionships! Congratulations to Durack House for winning the Middle School Athletics Carnival Shield, and Hollows House for winning the Senior School Athletics Carnival Shield. A special mention to the following record breakers; Hayley Mann (Year 8 200m), Lucy McNamara (Year 8 400m), Daniel Mann (Year 11 400m), Louie Oakes (Year 11 1500m), Alana Clarke (Year 7 Discus), Daniel Holding (Year 12 Shotput), Leola Hall (Year 8 Long Jump), Cameron Dalglish (Year 11 Long Jump), Jake Minear (Year 12 Long Jump) and Year 8 Durack Relay Team; Kaya Fisher, Hayley Mann, Dana Harrison, Leola Hall. Jack Hathaway (Year 11) also broke the long standing Year 11 400m, but was narrowly beaten by Daniel Mann in a great race and close finish. 19.01.2022 LOWER PRIMARY ATHLETICS CARNIVAL // This morning, Pre-Kindy to Year 2 students took part in the annual Lower Primary Athletics Carnival. The day started with the 60m sprint races followed by six rotation-based activities including kite-ball throwing, under over/ tunnel ball, agility races, tug-o-war, scooter races as well as beanbag and hoop races. A great high light was the mommy and daddy race. All the students concluded the day with shuttle relay races. All participants had great fun!

17.01.2022 BOOK WEEK PERFORMANCE // The Year 10 Drama students took inspiration for their book week performance from the childrens book, The Adventures of Clive the Clam written by local Yanchep author, Diana Smith. The students created a piece called Clive goes to School. On Monday 24th August the Year 10 Drama students performed their play for author Diana Smith and Pre-Primary students. Well done to all the students!

16.01.2022 ART EXHIBITION, NIGHT MARKET & MUSIC CONCERT // Thank you to the students and their families, staff, alumni and special guests who attended the annual Art Exhibition opening, market and music concert on Friday 13th November. It was a wonderful evening celebrating creativity in our School community. If you missed it but would like to see the artwork there are additional viewing opportunities this week in the afternoons from 2:45pm to 3.30pm through to Thursday 19th November.

Students have been learning about it's importance and participating in Aboriginal art and Dream-time stories as well as a visit from Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse sharing their knowledge of Noongar language through song. On Monday 9th November, Rylee May Booth (Year 4) went against uniform rules and wore a NAIDOC T-shirt to spread awareness to her classmates and stand up for what she believes in. The Year 12 ATAR Drama students will be showcasing their Original Solo Performances and their Scripted Monologues and the Year 11 ATAR Dance students will be performing a range of dances including their Original Solo Compositions and Set Solo.
13.01.2022 WAASA STUDENT LEADERS REUNION // Last week, Student Leaders Darcie Mitchell, Atharv Sinha, Tyler Pedley, Mitchell Byrne and Adrian van den Berg attended the WAASA Student Leaders reunion hosted by the Archbishop of Perth. The leaders met with many other prefects from Anglican schools around WA for a catch up and the opportunity to discuss being a leader and challenges associated with leading during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you to the The Anglican Archbishop of Perth for hosting this special event.
12.01.2022 STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL // On Friday 31st July the first Student Representative meeting was held with student leaders from Years 6 to 12. The Student Representative Council (SRC) is a safe, equitable and respectful forum for students to actively participate in decision making at School on the decisions which shape their learning and wider educational experiences. Student leaders from Years 6 12 represent the wider student body from PK-12, meeting twice termly, to voice their opinions and enhance student agency. Following the meeting, the Head Girl and Boy, who Chair the meeting, meet with the Principal to discuss the implementation of student suggestions.
11.01.2022 LAWN BOWLS // On Thursday 19 November, the Year 11 PE Studies students played their last day of lawn bowls after visiting the Quinns Rock Bowling Club throughout Term 4 to learn how to play. Congratulations to Jay Solly, Matthew Parke and their skipper Bert from the club for taking out the winning cup! Apart from appreciating the skill level involved in the game, students formed close bonds with members of the club and were sad to say goodbye. ... The school would like to give special thanks to president Shane and state coach Clive, for their efforts in encouraging this program and we can’t wait to be back next year!

West-Side: Re-imagined, is a loosely adapted play of West Side Story performed and directed by the Year 11 ATAR and combined Year 11 and 12 General Drama students, with assistance from Mrs Flanigan. A forbidden romance and rivalry between two households Sharks and the Jets as they find love and hatred together. As the gangs battle with life and death, the performance takes a modern approach as issues from the 21st Century begin to shape the characters view on racism and prejudice, detailing the effects of teen violence on family and friends, evident in both the 20th and 21st centuries.
10.01.2022 DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY // The Year 8 sewing class have been busy fine tuning their sewing skills in preparation for their major design project. Year 8 and 12 Design and Technology students have been using technical drawing boards and working in the manufacturing workshop learning and using different types of machinery.
10.01.2022 REMEMBRANCE DAY // We will remember them. Today students from Years 1 to 11 gathered for our Remembrance Day Service. Students and staff came together to share a minutes silence and to hear about the meaning of the red poppy and why this day is special to Australians. We also sung the national anthem, listened to the last post, poems and readings, and shared prayers of remembrance. This year the service was made extra special, with social distancing restrictions we have no...t be able to gather large amounts of students together throughout the year but today we were able to assemble in this manner. Please take a moment to think about the many members of the Australian Defence Force currently serving in parts of our country while away from their families and all those men and women who have served and defended our country in the past and at present. Lest we forget.
08.01.2022 A CAPELLA CONCERT // Join us for a night of A Capella on Wednesday 25 November at 6pm. The ACE Workshop is an annual event based on a full day workshop with a concert in the evening. The focus of the music is on introducing students to fun, a capella arrangements for girls chorus, boys chorus, and mixed chorus in order to expose them to ensemble singing and to the rewards of singing in close harmony with others. The workshop is hosted by Jo Ossterhoff (Director of 2015 and ...2018 National Women’s Chorus Champions) and joined by various experienced barbershop music singers, national champion choruses and high level quartets. All are welcome!
08.01.2022 YEAR 7 TRANSITION DAY // Today, current Year 6 students from PMACS and a variety of other Schools spent the day experiencing what student life will be like in Year 7 at our School. Students spent the day taking part in fun activities such as science experiments, baking, drama, sport games, and building in woodwork. They also enjoyed lunch provided by the School cafe. We hope they enjoyed the day and look forward to starting Year 7 in 2021.
08.01.2022 ASC ROCK CONCERT // Well what a year! The original event was cancelled in June, but by popular request we aimed to make it happen this Term. We were joined by bands from three other Anglican Schools Commission schools, namely St James' Anglican School , Swan Valley Anglican Community School and St George's Anglican Grammar School. We played 24 rock songs from 12:20 to 2:40pm. Schools had been hoping and looking forward to having a chance for their bands to play; and parents teared up for the right reasons! A huge thank you to all those who came to watch, and to our Year 6s and their teachers who really added to the fun with dancing, and conga lines. Thank you to the ASC schools, their students, teachers and to all involved!

08.01.2022 "HOW TO ADULT" // Every Tuesday during Tutorial Time, our Year 11 students have been learning practical skills. Students learn how to: - Cook six easy meals - Change a tyre, check water and oil levels in a car... - Change a tap and a washer for a leaky tap - Write an up-to-date cover letter - Fix reticulation The goal of this programme is to provide students with real life, practical skills as they move into adulthood. So far students have enjoyed learning these skills!
06.01.2022 BRAVING THE COLD FOR A GOOD CAUSE // On Friday 7th August, a group of Year 10 students participated in the Anglicare Sleepout 2020. Although the sleepout could not take part at Optus Stadium again, students slept out at their schools and in their backyards so they could still take part in the important cause. Students worked together to complete various tasks which were sent via text and email. They made the soup in the Chapel servery and joined together around the fire to en...joy delicious soup, and reflect on the plight of the homeless youth of Perth. Students retired for the night and slept under the alfresco outside the Chapel. They built makeshift windbreaks with trestles tables to help shelter from the cold wind. All funds raised by the sleepout go directly to the Street Connect Bus which is on the streets of Perth to be available to homeless youth. This year students across the state raised $93,000! This is a new record and an amazing effort by the 320 students that slept out. So far, our students have raised $1840 towards their $2000 goal. Thank you all for your donations and support! 06.01.2022 PRIMARY INDONESIAN RESTAURANT // On Monday 24 August, Year 5 students enjoyed eating at an Indonesian restaurant from the comfort of their own classroom! Students were able to sample a variety of Indonesian dishes, such as Lumpia, Mie Goreng and Nasi Goreng. Students spoke in Indonesian to converse with our Year 10 waiters, order food and pay for their meal using Rupiah. Thank you to the School Cafe for cooking the delicious meals and Mr Wood and Mr Lomas for visiting, much fun was had by all!

02.01.2022 YEAR 12 DRAMA AFTERNOON // On Wednesday 12 August, our School had the privilege of hosting the Independent Schools Drama Association Year 12 Drama Afternoon. It was a fantastic opportunity for students from a range of Independent schools to come together to watch a variety of past students from Guildford Grammar School , Lake Joondalup Baptist College - LJBC and Methodist Ladies College perform their Practical Examinations from 2019. The students were given the chance to witness the format of the exam with a marking panel as well as ask the performers any questions to further their understanding. It was a wonderful occasion and we hope to have more involvement in events such as this in the future.

01.01.2022 LANGUAGES WEEK // We were pleased to host the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Perth to celebrate the 75th Commemoration of Indonesian Independence Day of the Indonesian Republic last Friday! "The fascinating series of events and activities started with the singing of the Australian National Anthem and the Indonesian National Anthem. This was followed by an informative session by Robbie Gaspar (A professional football player who has played in several soccer team...s in Indonesia) about his experiences in Indonesia. Robbie also gave encouragement to students to continue with their Indonesian studies. The event continued with several amazing performances from Year 7 students, including the "Giring-Giring" Dance performance from Kalimantan, a Musical Instrument Gamelan performance presenting "Tropong Bang" from Central Jawa , and also the Poco-Poco Dance (Indonesian line Dancing). Meanwhile students from Year 8 and 9 showed their creativity in making Wayang fshadow puppet) as well as class door decorations in predominantly red and white colours. Ibu Konjen, (Dewi Gustina Tobing- Consul General for Indonesia in Perth) expressed in her speech her happiness for the organisation of the event that symbolises the strong relationship between Indonesia and Australia in the area of art and culture as well as people to people links. Ibu Konjen also explained in general to students regarding the importance of the Indonesian-Australian relationship especially in terms of the latest signed trade agreement IA-CEPA. Peter Moyes School is one of the Schools in Western Australia that teaches the Indonesian Curriculum from Year 7-9 in Middle School. 01.01.2022 WELL WISHES // Our Year 12s arrived this morning to find an individual hand written note stuck on their lockers from Year 7 students. The notes expressed a wonderful array of sentiment and well wishes and even turned some of our senior student leaders to tears! Their journey is nearing an end and their final WACE examinations are fast approaching, good luck Year 12s!
