13.01.2022 Lately, I have been thinking about how to modernise the old Sales Funnel and bring it into the 2020s. My conclusion was that the modern sales funnel needs to mature from being driven by internal selling processes to the Buyers' perspective and the way that they now want to buy, instead of how we might want to sell. I came up with this model. I was almost going to cal it a Smarketing Funnel but didn't want to complicate it unnecessarily.... 13.01.2022 This week I spoke with the CEO of a chemical supply company. They sell specialist cleaning products to commercial and industrial businesses. The sales team is selling the products "door to door" by visiting client sites promoting the features, specs and quality of the products. The CEO was looking for new revenue growth and for ideas on how to sell more of the slow-moving and high-price items. I asked him whether he had considered selling what I call "the benefits of the bene...fit". What did I mean by that? Let's say you sell a can of graffiti-remover to a school, what do you actually sell? Are you selling the can, or the removal of the graffiti? What could be the consequences for the school of the graffiti being removed? 1. The school would no longer look like it had been taken over by gangs. 2. The reputation of the school in the community would improve. 3. Teachers, staff and the principal would also enjoy a better reputation. 4. Parents would more readily send their kids to this school because it now looks safe. 5. The school would attract higher-quality teachers. Go back to No 2. above, and continue.
