Not a bad read here: http://www.bbc.com//20200421-dubrovnik-the-medieval-city-d FOOTNOTE What needs to be put into perspective here is that Ragusas (modern: Dubrovnik) people were descendants of Latin-Illyrian families, therefore it was them who were part of the beginnings of the setting up of quarantine regulations in Europe. The early medieval Ragusa City State had a population of Romans and Latinized Illyrians, who spoke L...atin. This with time evolved into the Dalmatian language (Ragusan Dalmatian, now an extinct Romance language). Unfortunately the Ragusan Dalmatian language disappeared in the 17th century. For centuries Ragusa, was an Italian-City State and at one time part of the Republic of Venice. The City State (then later Republic) became independent and very wealthy, at times even rivaling the Republic of Venice. From the 12-13th centuries on-wards there was a small ethnic group of Croatians living in Ragusa and they were at first at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder. However during the later historic period of the Republic that changed with Croatians becoming the most numerous. 14.01.2022 Image by Peter Zuvela - Photography, Visit Fremantle: One of Fremantles most surprising art thefts was the removal of Bella at Bathers Beach Fremantle in 2019. Bella, clad in her swimsuit and flowery bathing cap has been seated outside Bathers Beach House [Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour] since 2011. Created by sculptor Greg James, she was a popular figure for photos and selfies in Fremantle. Earlier this month the Department of Transport made an exciting announcement to commission a new version of Bella.
