24.01.2022 Now that the weather is supposed to start cooling down (will it ever, though?!?!?!) I thought Id be your plant guardian angel and help keep your indoor plants ...alive during the colder months. Here are my tips: 1. Reduce watering completely. The only time you should really water your indoor babies is when they tell you and are starting to look a bit sad. This could be anywhere from 2-3ish weeks. Dont follow this advice with ferns though. Maybe 1 week between waterings 2. Dont use too much artificial light. Its natural that we dont get as much sun in winter due to day light hours minimizing but plants need it to thrive. Have a rotation of plants that can spend 1-1.5 weeks outside in a shady position and some others inside. This way all your plants get an equal amount of sun. 3. Remember that the heat of our air cons can dry out your indoor plants quicker than what they usually would. Keep an eye on those around the air con and water to conditions So moral of this post: WATER TO CONDITIONS. A plant will tell you what it needs by dropping leaves or getting floppy or getting markings or anything really. Just keep an eye on them. If you need any more help Im just a message away

23.01.2022 Does this cactus look familiar to you? Maybe you’ve bought one off Marketplace recently? Bunny ears cactus (Opuntia microdasys) has been found being sold or kep...t as an ornamental plant in many places across Queensland. It is however, a restricted invasive plant that we are currently targeting for eradication. The dense shrub grows to around 40-60cm tall (or occasionally more), with pad-like stems around 6-15cm long and 4-12cm wide. These pads grow in pairs, giving the namesake appearance of bunny ears. The plant has no spines, but instead has numerous white or yellow glochids (hair-like prickles), that are 2-3mm long that grow in dense clusters. Other common names for bunny ears cactus include golden bristle cactus or polka dot cactus. If you’ve seen bunny ears cactus for sale anywhere, or for advice on disposing of any plants you may have, give us a call on 13 25 23. For more information on bunny ears and how to control it, check out https://www.business.qld.gov.au//inv/restricted/bunny-ears
