20.01.2022 A story of a little girl who has suffered most of her life with intense skin itch and self-mutilation. Dog Amy: Since 3yo she developed a chronic skin condition.... Tracey contacted me in regards to her little dog who was so bad with itch she just didn’t know what else to do to give Amy to improve her quality of life. A Qld Summer was looming and past experiences indicated that this little dog was in for a very rough time this Summer if something wasn’t about to change. The realisation was if Amy couldn’t improve then euthanasia was being considered due to her being so miserable and the owner felt nothing was significantly changing the circumstances to persist. She was already under the guidance of a herbalist. So it wasn’t about reinventing the wheel. It was about complimenting the existing protocol to stimulate the body to kick the immune system along and reduce the toxic overload. These types of conditions take time to start to reversal and show improvement. Pharmaceuticals are a quick fix, generally to a symptom. A lot of the time side effects increase the risk and create more symptoms which then need to be given more medication to correct. But getting to the underlying cause and offering the body the tools it requires to heal and repair can do AMAZING things! Like giving the animal back its life. If you need help with your dog who is struggling with health issues or you just require a general check up to make sure all is going well with your pet immune system, then please contact us at the Canine Holistic Wellness Centre (02) 4324-9992 Sydney 0475 CANINE (0475 226463) or send us a private message here on FB. Testimonial from owner Tracey: My 14 yr old mini foxie has had severe skin allergies since the age of 3, and although she has always been on a raw diet, over the next 11 yrs nothing I tried with her worked to alleviate her distress. The issue got worse as she aged and affected her in winter as well as in summer, so she was miserable all year round and so was I. She reluctantly had a few courses of cortisone but this was only as a last resort when her discomfort was extreme, but of course didn’t fix the issue, only suppressed it for it to return with a vengeance once the medication was stopped. She was on homeopathic and Chinese herbs for the last eighteen months but these didn’t provide enough relief. I found Sharlene on Facebook and contacted her. She performed a hair test and we had a few lengthy conversations and certain protocols were recommended. I’ve been waiting since mid August when they were started to write this review, to see how things progressed as we knew it would not be a quick or easy solution to her skin issues considering the length of time she had suffered. I’m delighted to say that today she is lying here in the 35 degree heat and is relatively comfortable and itching only sporadically. Considering she was spending her days in a full legged bamboo wound suit and a wound neck collar to stop her from tearing herself apart even in the middle of winter, I think we can claim to have made enormous progress to date. I know she won’t be totally itch free but if her comfort levels in our Qld humid summer are far more bearable for her, I’m one over the moon customer and she’s one much happier dog. The renewed spark in her eyes makes me smile from ear to ear. Thank you Sharlene, you totally rock xxxx Picture 1 The before anti-self mutilation suit. 18.01.2022 A story of a little dog who got a 2nd chance of life HA free Dog Chea: Diagnosed Haemolytic Anaemia Vet recommended euthanasia as they thought the dog was to... far gone. When I first meet Chea she was a very sick little dog and laid quietly on my clinic floor struggling to breath. She had been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition that was attacking her red blood cells (Haemolytic Anaemia). Her attending vet had said to the owner if this was her dog she would kindly chose euthanasia for Chea. Here is the testimonial from Chea owner Heather: My dog Chea will soon be 11 years old and is a maltese-shitzu cross. Dec 2015 I noticed Chea had become increasingly lethargic. She wasn’t too keen on her morning walks and she was struggling to walk up hills. On Christmas Day 2015 she was not interested in her toys or presents and she did not want to go for a walk. After Christmas I took her to the vet and they suggested a blood test. The vet rang back as soon as he got the results and wanted to see me immediately. Her red blood count was 18, well below the normal range. She was diagnosed with auto immune haemolytic disease. Her body was attacking her red blood cells. The vet prescribed a course of prednisone and a few other medications. During that week she became incontinent, lost muscle mass, overall weight and had tremors. She had deteriorated significantly and her blood count went down to 11, seriously low. The vet discussed blood transfusions, more medication and one vet said If she was my dog I would put her down. The medication suggested was very toxic and we would have to wear gloves to administer it. The vet also said that my pregnant daughter would have to avoid being around Chea due to the medication’s toxicity. My gut told me not to do anything more. I took her off everything and if Chea was meant to die I would let her go naturally. Over the next week or so we all said goodbye to Chea every night before we went to sleep just in case she passed during the night. It was an incredibly sad time for everyone. Over the next week or so the incontinence gradually stopped, so did her tremors, however she was still very lethargic, but still with us. I am a big believer of natural health for people so I thought why not for dogs. I found a few therapists that suggested a natural diet of cooked meat, vegies and bone broth. I gave her a few different supplements, homeopathy and she was given massage and red light therapy. She started to improve but she was still lethargic. Her red blood count went back up to 18. I researched the internet one day and found the Canine Wellness Centre at Narara. I met Sharlene and she was such a lovely, caring and knowledgeable women. She organized a hair analysis test. Chea was prescribed herbs and supplements and Sharlene instructed me on what homemade food to give her. After 6 weeks we retested her bloods and her red blood count went to 25. Woo hoo!!!! Still in the low range but going the right way. Her red blood count stayed at 25 for a while but everyone could see a big change in Chea. She was happy and healthier with more energy. She was playful, puppy-like, enjoying her toys again and short walks. Sharlene said it would take time to get her red blood count back to normal and she suggested to persist with the diet, herbs and supplements and to concentrate on how Chea is and not so much on her red blood count. She was so supportive and encouraging. We had Chea tested again a few months ago and her red blood count was up to 40, back in the normal range. Yippee!!!!. I have my little Chea back, definitely a much happier, healthier dog than she has ever been. We are still giving her supplements and a good natural homemade diet. We will continue to have the hair analysis tests when required to see if Chea needs any herbs or supplements to keep her in good health. I can’t thank Sharlene enough for her help and support in bringing Chea back to good health. Sharlene is a wonderful woman. I thank her for her knowledge, her ongoing support and all the time she has given me. I would recommend her to anyone who has a sick pet or who wants their pet to be the healthiest they can be. Thank you, Sharlene. You are amazing.

06.01.2022 A story of an indoor kitty cat who reacted badly to her home environment. Cat Chloe: Severe Allergic Reaction Owner had no idea what was wrong with her little... cat and why she wasn’t responding to veterinary treatment. The first thing I noticed about Chloe when she arrived was how much heat was radiating from her cat crate and I was standing almost a meter away from it. I opened the top of the cage and saw this little sad face look up at me and was very shocked at what I saw. To me it looked like someone had put her in a microwave and turned it on. Her face looked burnt and her body was fire engine red with big white welts. What on earth was going on with this little kitty cat? Carlotta informed me that this all started 6 weeks prior. After the first 2 weeks the cat had started to decline and get worse so she was taken to the vet to seek treatment. The cat was in and out of vets constantly for the next 4 weeks. Slowly Chloe was getting worse as the weeks past. Carlotta asked her vet if they knew what was wrong with Chloe and they had no answers. She then asked was her cat going to survive and they gave her a 50 / 50 chance of a survival. Chloe was not responding to the copious amounts of antibiotics they were treating her with. Infact, this was damaging her immune system significantly and little Chloe was getting weaker and weaker. We urgently tested up Chloe to see if we could pick up anything significant. Bingo!!! Chloe was having a massive chemical reaction response. Her very immune system was trying to detox but with all the antibiotics therapy her immune system was in disarray. Chloe being an indoor cat meant we had a little more control over the potential threat. We asked Chloe’s mum for a list of all household cleaning products, personal care, perfumes and any other item they could locate around the house. We retest this list and discovered a Crabtree & Everlyn Body Wash & Lotion was the item Chloe was reacting to. I will still remember the moment Carlotta walked into the clinic and I told her our findings. She said Oh, my God Sharlene, I was given it as a present about 8 weeks ago and I thought I better use it. So I have been putting it on every night after my shower. Thing was, Chloe would curl up on her mums chest at night for hours and they’d watch tv together. Plus Chloe loved having between her paws tickled and guess what was all over her mum’s hands! So after 2 weeks of exposure it all went south and hence why the antibiotic therapy was not working. It was suppressing the toxins and making the immune system redundant. Being so overwhelmed by this exposure it started flowing out through the skin. We tested up the product and found it was aluminium that was the thing responsible for Chloe’s horrendous reaction. Being a long coated cat we had her clipped off by the ever talented Charmaine Bright at Gosford Grooming so we could start treating her skin directly and sooth the angry and hot response she was experiencing. She instantly enjoyed the change. We changed her diet and she loved her new food. As far as cats go she ate all her herbs we prescribed. We were off to a great start as cats can be super fussy eaters. It was clear we had a long way to go to repair the damage sustained. Sadly Chloe detoxed through her skin as she was clearing all the toxic rubbish from her body. This meant she had loads of sores that broke out much like hot spots. They eventually cleared and turned to healthy scabs. The next stage was the scabs falling off and presenting beautiful new healthy pink skin. Plus her fur starting to grow back in abundance. Chloe was gaining all the weight she lost and was becoming a much happier and healthy cat again. Chloe continued on to make a full recovery from her allergic reaction. I did have a great final pic of Chloe looking super healthy with a gorgeous luscious coat but I can’t find it anywhere. Carlotta’s gracious thank you was said to me in person and that will forever remain in my heart. You are a soul woman and you did an amazing job taking care of your baby girl during such a difficult time. I feel privileged to be a part of this journey with you and we all grew through this together. May your beautiful Chloe live a long and happy life with you. xxx
