24.01.2022 The purple poppy https://petrestcremations.com.au/the-purple-poppy/

23.01.2022 I finally pinned down our lovely blue vehicle today for a couple of snaps before she was off again out on the roads of the Sunshine Coast! Have you seen our cars out and about? We have this lovely blue one and the white one with the beach image on the back

23.01.2022 The road has again changed! As it is currently being managed regularly, it is best to just follow the signs that the council have put up. From Southbound- Follow signs to Sippy Downs and then to Sippy Creek rd. From Northbound (highway) take the Sippy downs exit and follow it straight ahead to Sippy Creek rd. From the motorway, follow the signs to Gympie but turn left towards the Sippy Creek rd sign. If you are in doubt, please just give us a call and we can direct you. Just don’t follow the GPS or Google maps- they are not up to date with the changes.

21.01.2022 Happy International Dog Day!!

21.01.2022 Look at these lovely boxes! After searching for so long, we have found a wonderful Sunshine Coast family business that makes these beautiful products! Hand-crafted, QLD timber and made right here on the Sunshine coast. These are custom engraved including a graphic, your pets name and their dates or a simple message. There is the choice of three different timbers and three different text types. All of the order and pricing information is on our website: https://petrestcremations.com.au//custom-engraved-timber-/ By purchasing these boxes, you are supporting two local Sunshine Coast family businesses

21.01.2022 Please please please share this with all of your Sunshine Coast family and friends!! I can’t even describe the heartbreak we are seeing regularly due to tick paralysis They are out in full force this year. I know tick prevention medication is very expensive and we have all had a hard year with Corona. If purchasing the medication isn’t an option right now, the tick collars do help and hand checks work (be sure to check around the eyes and nose, in the ears, under legs and tail, in between toes). Look for the signs and see a vet immediately if you are concerned. There are multiple emergency vet clinics on the Sunshine Coast open 24/7.

18.01.2022 We have some really lovely products for memorialising your beloved pet. Here are a couple of our personal favourites! For more products, information and pricing, please see our website www.petrestcremations.com.au

17.01.2022 Just a little shout out to the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge and all the incredible volunteers who work tirelessly to care for animals waiting for their forever homes. Did you know that the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge is a no-kill shelter? All of the gorgeous dogs and cats will find a home! Of course there are some who stay longer than others, however they are treated like royalty with daily walks, treats, toys, comfy bedding, jackets in winter and plenty of cuddles! If you are looking for a wonderful addition to your family, check out their website http://www.sippycreek.com.au/ for all available dogs and cats.

16.01.2022 We have a blog! It would mean so much to us if you had a squiz We have tried to include valuable information and a section for families to post a tribute to their beloved pet. If you would like to have your pet’s photo and story included, please send me a message on Facebook. https://petrestcremations.com.au/blog/

15.01.2022 As many small family business owners know, there is always more work to do! Especially when your business is open 365 days a year! I am so lucky to have an incredible team who are the ones caring for pets day in day out. The website has been an ongoing labour of love for Pet Rest for many years and last week I had a little win with the product catalogue for our lovely urns! I have been trying to have as much information and images up there as possible so it is easy to make a selection that is suitable for your beloved pets. If you get a spare minute, are looking for an urn or are just curious as to what we have, please pop over to our site and have a squiz! It would really mean so much to me!

15.01.2022 I know everyone is probably sick of hearing about ticks! I know we are constantly posting and talking about it. However when you go into vet clinics constantly and they tell you how many cases they have had, or hear from families about the cost of a pet in vet care for days on drips and medication or you see families and kids devastated at the loss of a young pet due to tick paralysis. Not every so oftenmultiple times a week. We can’t help but to want to talk about it. Tick... paralysis is very prevalent on the Sunshine Coast. Some areas are worse than others, however they are everywhere. Our own dogs have had multiple ticks this season already and that is with all the necessary precautions. A good check over every few days, tick prevention medication and a rinse with Fidos regularly is the best way to lower the risk. I can’t promise we won’t post about ticks again if it reminds one family to check, it’s worth it. See more

15.01.2022 Everyone knows that we are in the middle of winter right?! Wrong! Ticks are out and about! There have been a number of tick paralysis cases on the Sunshine Coast after all that rain we have had. Quite a few of us lapse on tick prevention during winter- just a note to pick it back up again now. If you are concerned that your pet may be suffering from tick paralysis, get them into your vet clinic as soon as you can. Check out the image below for signs of tick paralysis!

12.01.2022 Happy Fathers day to all the Dads! Awesome Dads, Fur-Dads, Grandad’s, Step Dads, Step in Dads, Far away Dads, Angel Dads and everyone else who you consider your Dad. We love you! Hope you all have a fantastic day Whats the best Dad joke you have heard? I like, 'whats brown and sticky? ........... A brown stick! (ha ha ha cringe )

09.01.2022 For many dogs, storms are scary! Unfortunately many dogs run given half a chance in a scary situation just like a storm. The weather over the last few days has shown us that now is the time to make sure your pets microchip details are up to date and if possible have your phone number on your pets collar. If your dog goes missing in a storm, firstly call your local vet or emergency vet to get your details listed should someone bring him/her in, secondly send Sunshine Coast Los...t Pet Register (on facebook) a message so they can put a listing up online for you. They have a large following and are very effective at reuniting pets should someone find him/her. Thirdly, contact your local pound as soon as you can to get your information listed. Stay safe Sunshine Coasters To view or change your pets microchip details, contact your vet for the microchip company and number and it is all able to be done online from there. See more

07.01.2022 Celebrating 23 years of caring for Sunshine Coast pets and their families

06.01.2022 At 11 am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The allied armies had driven the German invaders back, having inflicted heavy defeats upon them over the preceding four months. In November the Germans called for an armistice (suspension of fighting) in order to secure a peace settlement. They accepted allied terms that amounted to unconditional surrender. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month at...tained a special significance in the post-war years. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This first modern world conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. The allied nations chose this day and time for the commemoration of their war dead. https://www.awm.gov.au/commemora/remembrance-day/traditions We will remember them.

03.01.2022 Coronavirus Update: We are monitoring the situation in QLD closely and ensuring that all requests and regulations from the government are being implemented. All of our team use hand sanitizer in between contact with anyone and practice appropriate hand washing techniques. We have access to appropriate PPE should it be necessary to use it again. We have strict infection control and cleaning procedures to ensure any risks are limited. No Pet Rest team member will come to work unwell. If you are concerned and would like our team to wear PPE when visiting your home or clinic, please let us know. The health of those most vulnerable in our community is of paramount importance to us.

03.01.2022 From our family to yours- Wishing you a very merry Christmas!

01.01.2022 Snakes are on the move! They are just the most fascinating creatures and a vital part of our eco-system however overly curious dogs and cats + scared or hungry snakes just = a bad situation. Not-so-obvious signs of a snake bite include: vomiting, shaking or twitching, extreme weakness, dilated pupils, blood in their urine. (Some of these also occur in tick paralysis) If you are concerned that your pet may have been bitten by a snake it is crucial that they see a vet immediately. There are numerous afterhours vet clinics on the Sunshine Coast including AES Noosa, @animalemergencyservice AES Tanawha and @northcoastvetemergency (Sippy Downs)
