23.01.2022 Here’s to book clubs everywhere!!!! Many thanks to my two wonderful book clubs for celebrating the launch of The Good Teacher with me (in a socially-distanced way). And for finding a touch of orange to wear! There are so many issues to discuss from the book - book club questions can be downloaded from my website: www.petronellamcgovern.com.au
21.01.2022 For the Perth and WA people - it was great to chat with Chris on 6PR radio about teachers and good deeds, along with many other themes of the book.
21.01.2022 Many thanks to HerCanberra for featuring The Good Teacher today. "In Petronella McGovern’s first novel, Six Minutes, she drew on Canberra’s fringe towns to spark a thriller that has now been shortlisted for the Davitt and Ned Kelly Awards. Now, Petronella is taking it back to the classroom for her second novel, The Good Teacher."
20.01.2022 I had such fun signing a huge stack of The Good Teacher for Booktopia, although the time lapse video makes me look much more efficient that I really was! Many thanks to Rebecca and Lochie for their very efficient book-opening, book-passing assistance. Order from Booktopia to receive your signed copy - the link is below.
18.01.2022 Shelley’s take on The Good Teacher: ‘I literally could not put it down. I ignored my housework, left the family to fend for themselves and took up residence on the lounge until I turned the last tantalising page.’ Thanks Shelley Gardner for having me on the blog!
18.01.2022 Chatting about the writing and themes of The Good Teacher on QBD Crime Club.

14.01.2022 Great to pop into Abbey's Bookshop in the Sydney CBD, say hello to all the wonderful staff, sign some copies of The Good Teacher and film a quick video. But I didn't realise that I was standing in front of a book called Sex Robots & Vegan Meats. (I just had to google it ... "What if we could have babies without having to bear children, eat meat without killing animals, have the perfect sexual relationship without compromise or choose the time of our painless death?")
13.01.2022 Apple Books have chosen The Good Teacher as one of their top crime and thriller picks in 'What to Read this Month'. (It's funny that some Instagrammers have posted the book with an apple for the teacher! Perfect for Apple Books!) To grab a copy on Apple books - click here: apple.co/WhatToReadThisMonth
11.01.2022 A book cake to celebrate the launch of The Good Teacher! It was a delicious orangey flavour inside - I wish I could have shared it with all of you! Many thanks to those who’ve told me how much they’re enjoying the book.
11.01.2022 Super chuffed for The Good Teacher to feature in New Idea, alongside these other excellent new releases. (I’ve read the fabulous Mother Fault by Kate Mildenhall - I need to get on to the others.)
07.01.2022 Yesterday I had a piece in The Sydney Morning Herald reflecting on 18 years of Spring from my son’s birth to the end of high school, along with pink blossoms and black cockatoos.
07.01.2022 Last week my son finished high school...I still remember how excited he was to start Kindergarten all those years ago. (He’s now six foot three and driving my car!) Here’s to all the wonderful teachers and staff he’s had at various schools. And here’s to all the final year students who’ve had a tricky year with online learning and uncertain exam situations. Congratulations and good luck for your next adventures!!!
07.01.2022 I love this photo from a school teacher friend who is out camping and relaxing after a busy term. She has the billy on and is about to start reading. Here’s to all our wonderful teachers who have had to overcome so many challenges this year, and who we appreciate more than ever after lockdown! Enjoy the school holidays, lovely teachers!!
05.01.2022 If you’re looking for a great book, check out the shortlist for the Ned Kelly Debut Awards. (I’ve read most of these wonderful books and written one of them )
04.01.2022 On Monday night at 8pm (AEST), I’m doing a Facebook live chat with the Global Girls Online Book Club. It’s a great group with lots of book recommendations and author talks, so pop over and join up if you’re keen.
01.01.2022 Great to chat on the Good Reading Magazine podcast about the characters in The Good Teacher. In particular, we discuss Allison and the collapse of life as she knew it, after her husband leaves their marriage. If you're interested, click here to listen.
