25.01.2022 Absolutely they do last week I was walking home from Daylesford to Coomoora, when I stood aside for a couple walking a beautiful golden retriever amd a Labradore, just out the front of Mercato. I did focus on the Labrador as most of you know I have a lab called Olive. The young lab made a dash for me making the owner do that past pace, getting dragged stride and made a bee line for me. So I asked the owners if I could pat their dogs. They were so friendly and lovely and I... gave them a good ol patting. The older golden retriever was a beautiful friendly soul also. The lady then said I can’t believe she just did that she is usually a real scardy dog and doesn’t go to people, to which I saiid, then I feel very privileged. I hope the owners may get to read this, as it made my day and I did say that to them. I walked away with the feeling the lovely scardy lab knew how much I love animal’s and felt my good vibrations. 25.01.2022 These beautiful lilies are ever so popular at this time of year. But please don't forget that all lilies are extremely toxic to cats. All parts of the plant, fr...om the stem to the leaves, petals, stamens and pollen can cause a fatal kidney failure in cats if ingested. If you suspect that your cat has ingested any part of this plant, seek immediate veterinary attention even if your cat is otherwise normal. Keep your cat safe this Christmas! #ballaratvet #wendoureevet #lucasvet #petcare

19.01.2022 Helping Seniors Cope with Pet Loss and Grief Those who have loved and lost a pet know the struggle and pain associated with the loss. We lean on others for support and know where to seek these supports. Just imagine how hard it is for some seniors that live alone, have no family, limited supports, perhaps isolated and disconnected from their community or are house bound. They are also a pet owner and their pet are their world, their reason for living, their family. Older... people frequently form the most intense relationships with their pets and the magnitude of the loss they feel when they pass is massive. ‘Helping Seniors Cope with Pet Loss and Grief’ is a helpful website that provides information on how you can help Seniors through their pet loss and grief journey. xo Pets@Peace

19.01.2022 I have been very productive working behind the scenes of P@P Pet Bereavement Counselling services to ensure that I am providing all clients and partnering businesses with the best service possible. Along with becoming a funeral celebrant, I have currently completed an advanced major in loss and grief, not only has it been a good refresher but it has also brought me up to date with current counselling trends in grief and loss. It has been exciting learning the more contemporary theories that will enhance and strengthen my work

17.01.2022 When your legs have lost all feeling but you don’t want to wake the kids

14.01.2022 This pic was taken 16 months ago of Olive my golden Labrador who had to have an operation on her right leg. It was a trip to Advanced Vetcare in Kensington who specialise in TPLO surgery, I liken it to a hip replacement surgery in a human because I’m not a vet, but she has a metal plate in her joints. It was a long 6 week recovery. No stairs, our bloody house is surrounded in them, keep her as still as possible, and a week by week recovery plan, and time off work for me to nu...rse her. She recovered very well. I was advised to start saving as statistically the other leg goes within 18 months. Well we were close, it’s been 16 months and here we go again. Another surgery, another long recovery. As her mum I hate the thought of my girl going through this all again but I am assured this will be it and it will not happen again. The light at the end of the tunnel is she will be able to dog again, this means she can go on bush walks, and run with her brother and swim again and will no longer be In pain. So I remind myself when she looks at me with those puppy dog eyes thinking what have you done to me, it will be all be worth it and she can be a happy, crazy, carefree dog once again. Her op is booked for Wednesday 3rd Feb, so I will keep you all posted weekly on her recovery. See more

10.01.2022 They make a bad day better

10.01.2022 We said goodbye to our beautiful girl Tiger on the 19th September after 17 years. We loved her so much and the grief took us by surprise- me especially. Jenny ...was so lovely, told me it was okay to grieve and be in that space when I needed to. She encouraged me to take care of myself and our other cats who were also feeling the loss. I received the loveliest surprise in the mail today- a care package from Pets @ Peace that is so appreciated If you need support when saying goodbye to your fur-babies, don’t hesitate to contact Jenny. Her empathy & care are just what is needed Justine See more

08.01.2022 When we are sad, stressed, scared, or wondering how we can possibly deal with whatever life has thrown our way, our pets have the power of unconditional love to make us feel better. If you're experiencing grief, animals (especially cats) can relieve your stress, calm feelings of anxiety, and improve overall happiness. ‘I’ve been incredibly blessed to have the most beautiful companions throughout life. They have provided the greatest comfort and medicine I needed to heal i...n some my darkest days. And have brought incredible joy and happiness day after day. My ever present queen of the house Mumbas, who knows when your sick. Recently my precious Bettie joined our crazy life, who is the great granddaughter of the late Jackie. And more recently the biggest cuddly lap dog Bruce. I cannot imagine what life would look like without having these incredible souls in our lives.’ - Words from a beautiful friend See more

08.01.2022 Our best fur friends

07.01.2022 Today is R U OK day Is a reminder to reach out to others and ask R U Ok. When you ask really listen to the answer and by that I mean, listen to the tone of the persons voice, look at their body language and look into their eyes. Signs that they might not be OK. We are very good at being conditioned to say Nah I’m good thanks, All good here, when we might be feeling the opposite. So please if you are not ok it’s OK to reach out and ask for help xx Lifeline - 13 11 14 Beyond Blue - 1300 22 4636 qlife - 1800184527

02.01.2022 Do pets experience grief? Yes surving pets can experience grief when a member of their pet family dies and can also become distressed by their humans sorrow. If possible remaining pets should be given the chance to say goodbye by sniffing around and seeing their friends body, as it can be distressing to see their friend leave the house and not return. Visible signs your pet may be experience grief are: Changes in appetite... Acting withdrawn or despondent Whining or howling in dogs, or yowling and crying in cats Changes in personality; your aloof cat suddenly wants lots of attention, or vice versa Pacing or searching the house for the lost pet Hiding from or avoiding other family members Changes in grooming or bathroom habits, especially in cats Just as with people, there is no "right" or "wrong" way for your pet to grieve. Some pets may not appear to notice the absence of the deceased, while some may appear to feel the loss quite heavily. Providing comfort and support to your four-footed family members during this time can help aid the grieving process and promote healing for the whole family. HelpGuide
