22.01.2022 Do you want a cool spot for your dog or cat for free? This is what you need; Cement or tiled patch of floor plastic bucket old towel... close peg. Fill the bucket with water Wet the towel and spread out where you want to set up Put 1 corner of the towel right to the bottom of the bucket Peg in place The water will draw out into the towel as it dries and keep the towel wet and the surrounding floor cool. Your pet can choose to lie on the wet towel or close on the cool floor. Those "cooling" mats do absorb the dogs body heat then there is nothing to cool the mat itself so really it is not working as a cool mat for very long. See more

21.01.2022 ALERT! Diddy has bolted again. Please phone 0458461935 if you spot him. Is trailing his lead, near Shara Boulevard UPDATE: Diddy (DJ) safe at home... his ne...w owner and I were out looking for him separately... I popped in to Luca"s house to make sure he'd left a gate open for DJ to return, which he had... I wandered up onto the verandah and there the darling boy was. Big sigh of relief and hugs. So happy to ring Luca and let him know his very loved boy had returned home 9-year-old Diddy, Kelpie x Dingo, has gone missing from Redgate Rd, South Golden Beach. He's currently enjoying & settling into his 3-week-trial-adoption, but snuck out the gate for a wander. He has a Byron Dog Rescue tag on with my number 0458461935 - please ring me if you spot him. He can be a little timid with strangers. Many thanks

17.01.2022 A little bit on training; Most of your problems come from one cause; Lack of socialisation and boredom. A bored dog can and mostly does, bark, dig, destroy, chase cars and birds, escape their yard. Things can get worse into eating their own feces, fighting and being aggressive, biting and over protective. I am not big on treat training as most people rely solely on treats and when they don't have any anarchy reigns. If you don't have time for a dog DON'T GET ONE.... Training your dog to sit, stay, lead, come is all part of not having a bored dog, he will want the pats and praise heaped on him by pleasing you. Walks, play sessions, beach, park, even just a car ride to the shops for the bread and milk. Toys which need to be good quality and time consuming but can also be simple, an empty milk bottle tied into a pillow slip, dogs love the sound it makes. A lawn mower tyre suspended on a rope at nose height and filled with treats and biscuits, can be "chased" for hours as it swings around. Family time inside is essential, if the landlord says never inside don't get a dog as you are isolating him from the pack (you), he sees it a punishment and can't understand why he is punished. A ball chucker available here for $4.50 can wear him out when you are to tired to do anything but sit with a beer and "chuck" Start play dates as soon as your dog is fully vaccinated, visit friends with dogs, dog park or simply ask others with dogs on leads if you could walk a while with them or even parallel at a distance to socialise the dogs, you never know you might find the love of your life this way too. If there is a safe place and your dog comes when called let him off to romp with other friendly dogs. Keeping your dog isolated from other dogs will almost always cause him to be dog aggressive as will letting him "get in another dogs face" and then into a fight. Be respectful of other dogs as they may be dog scared or aggressive already, keep your dog on a lead, don't let him approach a unknown dog with out owner communication, if he gets anxious quietly change direction and distract you pooch with voice or a toy, you getting angry or anxious will not help, every encounter that goes well will improve things, going well may be just recognising the anxiety signs and turning away so that the anxiety evaporates. Be consistent, No means no, not orr alwright, down means down not jump up today and not tomorrow. Yours and mine are good words, remove the shoe (that you should have put out of the way) and growl "NO mine" lighten your voice and hand over a dog toy "yours" Achieve 1 step at a time, much easier for you!!!! perfect SIT and Lead without pulling, then progress on to another thing until you can look back at all your progress together. 14.01.2022 Very successful trip out near Glen Innis with the two elderly foxies. They have already bonded to their new family and are encouraging their unwell dad out of the house for the first time in months. His partner said he has not looked so happy also in months. I hope these little people improve his 2021 and his health no end. Lexie our new kitten completed the 700km and 14 hour trip with no problems, we had to make a large detour to collect a fridge that was donated to us, Th...anks Wal for the donation. She behaved beautifully but is so much a blond airhead, nothing like my late beloved Gemma who was so damn smart. I am to darn old for big trips like that and had to stop for two Nanny Naps to stay safe and awake, the body does not like sitting for so long any more and is letting me know today. Overall a great trip to see two happy dogs and a smiling family. See more

12.01.2022 The other day we had some litter donated, a product made of corn. Here are some pictures of why we use and sell our litter. 1 cup of our timber litter (ours) and 1 cup of water in one tray and the same of the corn product. After leaving it for a while we had damp sawdust, turned the tray upside down and tapped it. Dark Blue tray. The Corn product I cut slices with a paint scraper, there are several pics of the tray upside down and the resultant clag still stuck to the tray, had to be scraped off the tray with a paint scraper.

10.01.2022 HOW TO GIVE YOUR CAT A PILL: 1) Pick cat up and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow. 2) Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in...Continue reading

01.01.2022 More dumped kittens in yesterday, we got 3 but 6 were seen and someone trying to find them and bring them in to us, snakes, ticks, carpet snakes, eagles....will be lucky to get the other 3 as they were dumped near a property on a river bank. Rot in Hell you dumping cat breeding bastards. The kits are probably around 6 weeks old, skinny, worm and flea ridden.

01.01.2022 Would you like these kittens to give away free....they are 6 weeks old max, the other 4 all given to the same person so that will be snake food or greyhound bait. Tried to tell me they are 3.5 months old, not keen on desexing as it is the "farm cat" Back to that brick wall Yes the 2 are here safe. Have a good evening all
