23.01.2022 URGENT Courtesy Post! SUFP received the below letter today from a good hearted human named Chelsey, who needs immediate help. She says this hippo has some re...activity issues but SUFP does not believe that should be a death sentence. It means the dog needs to be an only dog, get some training and be given a chance and feel safe and confident. Chelsey now needs a rescue to handle the adoption for this dog so she does not end up in the wrong hands and she says she has been turned down by every rescue in Utah. This is example of what can happen when someone pulls a dog from a shelter with no plan. Good intentions without a plan can often times lead to urgent situations like this and a life is depending on it. Lets see if we can all rally together and help this dogs get to where she needs to be. Please read below and share, even if you’re not in Utah. She was being reactive to other dogs in the shelter and failed her food test so I pulled her from the shelter before they euthanized her. She did not get along with my dogs and so I was unable to foster her any longer. I have been turned down by every rescue in Utah. She is staying with a friend temporarily but I am out of options!! I believe with some patience and training she could overcome her issues. I paid for her vetting and the shelter spayed her while she was there. I will help with any costs associated with transport, food etc. I do not have the resources available like shelters and rescues and need some help!!! I absolutely love the company of humans and will be forever grateful for a home where there is someone home with me as much as possible. I just want to spend my days lazing around with someone special... I'm very loving and really can't wait to find the right home for me. It's been a pretty tough year for me, but I'm here and ready to accept change and embrace my new life...hopefully very soon! I love toys to chew! It's my fave thing. I really hope my new humans will get me lots and lots of toys. I like the ones with treats in them, where I have to use my brain to get it out. To be honest, I'm not great with other dogs, but the trainers said that with professional help, I may be able to gain some confidence around other dogs in the future, but this must be done slowly and at my own pace. I'd like to find a home where I have a consistent routine, this makes me feel secure and safe. I love to wake up and know how my day is going to roll. I also don't really want to be homed with kids, I need my humans to put their time and effort into me, please. I hope someone can give me a home soon.
