25.01.2022 People worry, what will happen to our poor dogs when we go back to how things used to be and leave them alone again for much of the day, but I think the real question is, what happens to us? Though, of course, a dog wouldnt worry about that. A dog would just live the moments as they come.
24.01.2022 OMG!!! This is too cute!!
24.01.2022 Haha! So true!!
23.01.2022 Participate in important research about people and pets during the pandemic!
23.01.2022 HAPPY GOTCHA DAY LENNY!!! Three years ago Lenny came home as a foster dog. I wasn’t at all convinced that a 5 month Border Collie was a good fit for us at the time with a 2.5yo and 14 month old. But he just kept ticking all the boxes and proving that he was, in fact, a great fit for our family. There were a few little issues we had to work through, like Lenny’s tendency to want to chase and (gently) mouth the boys when they ran around (typical Border Collie ha!) and his o...ver-excitement and jumping up on them. There was also lots of management using baby gates and the crate in the first couple of years to keep everyone safe when I couldn’t actively supervise. Lenny is such a good boy and it’s so great watching him play and enjoy interacting with the boys

20.01.2022 So great to get back to in-home consults following the easing of restrictions!!! Meet Princeton, the poodle x shih tzu. I’m helping his wonderful owner address his reactivity and aggression towards unfamiliar people and dogs as well as some aggression in response to handling. I can’t wait to track his progress and I’m confident he’ll do really well
20.01.2022 Did you know dogs go through an adolescent phase, just like teenagers? It can be a challenging time but it’s important to understand that it’s just a phase and it will pass
20.01.2022 Testimonials like this one make me so happy!! Inappropriate toileting is such a common problem but it CAN be resolved
20.01.2022 ENRICHMENT Environmental Enrichment involves increasing the physical and social complexity of your dog’s world and it’s crucial for their welfare and wellbeing. Enrichment allows dogs to express normal canine behaviour and can help reduce, and even avoid, common behaviour problems.... One way we provide Lenny with enrichment is playing fetch. He LOVES it!! Can you tell from the expression on his face in this photo in anticipation of me throwing the ball? What’s your dog’s favourite kind of environmental enrichment? If you’d like to learn more about environmental enrichment and different ways you can enrich your dog’s life, check out this article I wrote: http://katemornementanimalbehaviourist.blogspot.com//envir

17.01.2022 CLIENT TESTIMONIAL We found Kate after a particularly bad afternoon with our two cats. We had been trying for months to help them to get along, using of course the expert advise from google. What we didn’t realise was that most of the advice we were following was actually increasing the tension between the two cats, making the inter cat aggression worse! So by the time we contacted Kate we had created a situation where we were fearing for Oscars life, and had totally... separated the two cats. There were lots of tears, we love both our boys so much. We have one older cat, Oscar, and one young cat, Sherman. Shermy grew up as a stray, so his understanding of appropriate cat behaviour was completely non existent, and we were at the point of wondering whether we would have to either re-home him for Oscars safety. With Kate’s guidance we have been able to put together a training program to reduce the tension and increase positive associations between Sherman and Oscar. After five weeks of training, our two boys can be in the same room as eachother while we loosely supervise. We’ve had a few hisses and some swatting, but not one serious cat fight. We are not finished with our journey yet, but with Kate’s support and encouragement we are feeling really positive for our cat family and their future. We see small changes every day and can’t believe how far our boys have come in just five weeks! Thank you Kate!
16.01.2022 What a wonderful testimonial from one of my amazing clients I had a very anxious dog who whined constantly, and was fearful of kids to the point where it was recommended we relinquish him. I'm so glad we sought Dr Kate's advice instead! Kate helped me figure out where his fear had stemmed from and gave clear, simple guidance to help me alleviate his distress. Within a week his whining had significantly diminished, and where once he was aggressive towards kids who approached him, he is now calm and greets them with a tail wag. I can't thank Kate enough for helping me to help my boy live a much happier life, and I'm so appreciative of her kind and compassionate approach. Thanks so much Dr Kate!
15.01.2022 When you think about the science of learning and behaviour change, training your pets probably comes to mind. But have you ever considered how your own behaviour is being shaped and manipulated by social media platforms using the exact same principles? Addiction, increased rates of anxiety, depression, self harm and suicide amongst children and teenagers and increased societal division have all been linked to the rise of social media according to ex employees of the most popular social media platforms. This documentary is an absolute must watch for anyone who uses social media or has kids who do or will in future!

05.01.2022 That face! Meet Cooper! I had the pleasure of meeting him, his younger Frenchie brother (from another mother) Panda and his wonderful owners today. I’m helping to address a few issues including aggression between them and towards other dogs during walks. With the right knowledge and understanding of the problem behaviours and how to work on resolving them, I’m so confident Cooper and Panda’s owners will make excellent progress with them!
04.01.2022 Flat-faced (brachycephalic) breeds including Chihuahuas, pugs, French bulldogs and British bulldogs are generally less healthy than other dog breeds, accord...ing to new research from the UK’s Royal Veterinary College. This study supports general agreement among academics, breed clubs, veterinary organisations and welfare bodies that urgent intervention is needed to address the welfare issues in these dog breeds, and that owners should think carefully before considering buying a flat-faced dog and opt for dogs with less extreme features. 02.01.2022 This is Sherman. I recently had a Skype consultation with his wonderful owners who were really concerned that he wasn’t getting along very well with his feline brother (from another mother); Oscar. Sherman had been showing aggression towards Oscar who was becoming increasingly stressed and anxious. It got to the point where the cats were separated within the home. I’ve been receiving regular updates from their caring and committed owners who have reported lots of positive imp...rovements in their relationship so far. Aggression between pets living in the same home is a common issue I assist with. If you need help, reach out
