All listings will need both microchip numbers and a source number to be live on our website, if not we will suspend your listing until you can acquire one. I am sorry for any inconvenience. ... I have received the below correspondence from the Victorian Government Section 12B Domestic Animals Act 1994 it is an offence as to advertising dogs or cats for sale without a source number. I am writing to advise you that new advertising laws came into effect on 1 July 2019. These laws require that a person who advertises a dog, cat, puppy or kitten for sale or rehoming in Victoria must include a valid microchip number and a valid source number from the Pet Exchange Register. Animal Welfare Victoria believes that some advertisement do not comply with the Domestic Animals Act 1994. ACTION REQUIRED: You must remove the advertisement from all points of publication. Ensure that future non-compliant advertising does not occur. Under section 12B of the Domestic Animals Act 1994, non-compliant advertising is an offence and whilst this letter is advisory, penalties may apply for future breaches of this legislation. If you wish to re-advertise, enrol on the Pet Exchange Register to obtain a source number: https://per.animalwelfare.vic.gov.au/.
