12.01.2022 Meet Frankie, the parrot. This little guy came into PETstock VET North Lakes with a painful, swollen foot. Through a quick investigation it was found that the source of swelling was due to a tight leg band, that was cutting off his circulation. Side note: Leg bands are often applied by breeders to identify chicks, but as the bird grows, the band can become dangerously tight. If not addressed early, birds can lose their feet. In this case, it was a smooth process of removing the band with a surgical drill, leaving Frankie much happier.
