24.01.2022 Today Remembering 24th June 42yrs ago the first Mardi Gras was held in Sydney. What started as a peaceful March along Oxford Street ended with police brutal...ity, arrests and public naming and shaming of many lesbians and gay men when the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper published the names and occupations of those arrested. This vengeance meant innocent people lost their jobs and some who were traumatized by the disgrace, took their own lives. Before 1978 our LGBTQI+ loved ones had been forced to live in the shadows But the small group who walked that night, started a revolution of awareness for major civil rights and established the parade as an annual event. Today, Mardi Gras is a joyous celebration acknowledging that we all deserve to live in the light. We can accept difference, finding the love, dignity and beauty in all people. Representatives from the police force now proudly march alongside many diverse groups from our community. We recognize and celebrate those who have previously fought for rainbow equality and we remain optimistic that the lives of LGBTQI+ around the world will continue to improve. Happy Mardi Gras Day!

18.01.2022 The Digital Peer Support survey gathers information about how LGBTQ+ young people support each other and themselves through digital and social media. It also explores how these practices relate to mental health and wellbeing. This survey is part of a larger study that aims to inform Australian mental health policy through evidence of LGBTQ+ young peoples mental health experiences and peer support practices. The survey is anonymous and participation is voluntary. As the surv...ey is anonymous, you will not be asked to share your name or provide any information that reveals your identity. This survey has been approved by the UTS Human Research Ethics Committee (Ref: ETH20-5087). To participate in this survey, you must be based in Australia; aged 16-25 years, and be part of the LGBTQ+ community (this acronym is used because it is recognisable, but as the + suggests, this includes a wider range of gender and sexual identities). TAKE THE SURVEY HERE https://digitalpeersupport.com/take-the-survey/
