21.01.2022 Congratulations to all recipients of RISE Fund grants just announced, including a number of PGAV member galleries. TarraWarra Museum of Art will receive support to deliver the ‘TarraWarra Biennial 2021: Slow Moving Waters’. Guest curated by Nina Miall and featuring 24 contemporary Australian artists from each state and territory, the 2021 Biennial will explore art made in a consciously slow or arrested mode. Shepparton Art Museum will receive support for a First Nation artist... residencies and engagement program. The project will deliver exhibitions, residencies, enhanced education and engagement activities as well as establish and oversee a trainee program for local Indigenous youth, who will assist in the development and delivery of the First Nation artist residency and engagement program. PGAV member Incinerator Gallery will also benefit with Footscray Community Arts Centre receiving funding to deliver 'Neighbourhood' - a 10 day contemporary arts festival of new work in Melbourne's western suburbs involving The Bowery Theatre and Incinerator Gallery. The project will be delivered in partnership with The SUBSTATION. For public galleries this will include: - $1.4 billion to build NGV Contemporary - generating 5,000 construction jobs and 200 ongoing jobs (including Melbourne Art Precinct); - $34.7 million for regional creative infrastructure projects upgrades to Benalla Art Gallery and the completion of SAM; and - a new program to support suburban and regional g...alleries and museums to undertake improvements that will enable them to attract and host high-quality touring exhibitions bringing art to every corner of our state.
