25.01.2022 A petite "porch". Everything sealed with Cutek Extreme to prevent moisture penetration. All Mitred joints glued with exterior grade pva. Due to the absolute lack of air movement underneath, the H3 timber frame was sealed with an oil-based primer.... Slab mixed, poured and finished by myself. #carpentry #ironbark #cutek #boral

23.01.2022 Client referred to this as her "folly". It was no such thing. 100 year old oregon timber framed roof, now trimmed and stuffed with Earthwool insulation, has lining boards running from the floor vertically into the ridge and gully members. Raked drywalls and an existing skylight framed with mitres aplenty. A lot of cuts for a relatively small space and some funky angles to boot.... The most important thing: a satisfied client.

23.01.2022 Proverbial "kitchen with issues". Rising damp from everywhere. Leaking roof. Dug out everything and replaced with new. Saved what could be saved. Looks better now, I reckon.

21.01.2022 A mission. But it was satisfying.

21.01.2022 Balcony replacement. Darlinghurst. Investigation of the beams didn't take long to identify this as a scaffold job. Because the ends of the front beam were still solid timber, it was more cost-effective for the client for me to stitch an lvl to the back of it and to fill where the rot had been. Of course, I had barely finished nailing the last piece of new balcony timber when the rain came. Cue tannin bleed on to marble tiles and white grout.... Despite this, the client was left with a strong and attractive balcony deck and gleaming white tiles. #carpentry #ironbark #cutek #boral

18.01.2022 An engaging exercise, complete with unexpected dodgy building to contend with.

15.01.2022 Found a post to post. #carpentry #ironbark

09.01.2022 Door extensions. A young painter told me that she loves my job. She had no filling or sanding to do with these. Apparently this is unusual in her experience. #carpentry

08.01.2022 Small job. Repairing the damage caused by an over-ambitious fellow trying to install a curtain rail (plaster repair and augmenting the rather brittle window architrave to accommodate a curtain rail) in a 19th century worker's cottage.

08.01.2022 Rotten floor rebuild. "New" - circa 1910 - 150mm baltic pine floorboards were salvaged from a job in Dulwich Hill. Many thanks to The Hun Floors for making them pretty again.
