22.01.2022 Just a reminder to those that have a HECS bill. Make sure your pay officer is aware. It is important that you are having this tax deducted with each pay. If you don't, then when it comes time to do your tax return, you may have a sizable liability to pay. As it is early in the new financial year make a point of checking. If you have family or friends that have a HECS bill please pass this on. Any questions please call 0419 404 886 or email me [email protected]. Cheers Pete Try

21.01.2022 I just received a "recorded" message ( supposedly) from the Australian Taxation Office advising me I had an outstanding debt. PLEASE note the Australian Taxation Office does not use a "recorded message " to contact Taxpayers in this manner asking for payment for outstanding debts. If you ever receive a call like this please hang up and contact your tax agent OR the Australian Taxation Office. On no account pay any funds! All debt liabilities with the Australian Taxation Office is appropiately communicated by other means NOT via a recorded message. Regards Peter Try PG Accounting and Taxation Services

12.01.2022 Just a reminder to all employees that most employers will not be forwarding you a "payment summary " ( Group Certificate) for the F2020 period. To obtain this you can go through your My Gov or if you lodge your tax return via a Tax Agent they will be able to obtain your wages information via their Tax Portal. Similarly, if you received a pension via Services Australia ( was Centrelink) the payment summary is also accessable via My Gov or via your Tax Agent through the tax.agent portal. Ifyou have any questions please contact me via email [email protected] or 0419 404 886. Regards Peter Try

11.01.2022 Hi, just a small note to those of you that have a number of tax returns outstanding. You maybe entitled to refunds plus it may affect entitlements like family allowance. I can assist you with preparing and lodging these outstanding returns. By adding you to my tax agents portal I will have access to most of the information required to complete your tax returns. So put your mind at ease and contact me on 0419 404886 or by email at [email protected]. All the best for 2021. Cheers Peter Try

10.01.2022 Good news for sole traders that do or do not employ staff. If your annual turnover is under $billion and you have suffered a 30% decrease in turnover then you can apply for the $1500.00 per fortnight subsidy. You can register from 30th March 2020 and if you qualify you can expect payment commencing early May 2020 ( along with back payments). So if you qualify please register. If you require additional information on this or other tax issues please contact me on 0419 404 886 Or email [email protected] or go to my website pgtax.com.au. Hope all is well with you and your families. Kind Regards Peter Try

08.01.2022 For those of you working from home the good news is that you may be able to make a claim on some home expenses. These can include such things as phone and internet costs; computer consumables ( paper, ink); stationery; home office equipment including computers, printers, furniture for the office ( note if > $300 you will need to depreciate). Also you can include electricity expenses associated lighting, heating or cooling of your work area. Unfortunately, you cannot claim occ...upancy costs ( mortgage interest, rent, rates ) and you cannot claim coffee, tea, milk and other general household goods. Note if you are reimbused by your employer you will not be able to claim. Plus to make it easier rather than calculating the "actual costs" for the time you have been working from home on the above mentioned expenses you can use a "fixed rate " of 80 cents per HOUR for the period you have been working from home from 1st March 2020 to 30th June 2020. Just a matter of keeping a record of your work hours from home during this period. If you require further clarification please call me on 0419 404 886 or email me [email protected]. Hope all is well!! Kind Regards Peter Try. See more

02.01.2022 Just a reminder to all the Sole Traders that are eligible for the Jobkeeper subsidy. Ensure you enroll either through My Gov or via your Tax Agent. When you enroll you will need to provide bank details, email address and mobile number. If I can be of assistance please contact me on 0419 404 886 or at [email protected]. Kind Regards Peter Try
