21.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) PGT has been monitoring the situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the efforts to contain the spread within Australia, especially here in SEQ.... With the current increase and announcements from Heath organisations and Government today, PGT has put the following measures in place to help protect the health and wellbeing of our members, parents and coaches: All sessions are still currently scheduled as per normal. Any changes, you all will be notified in a timely manner. We would like all members, coaches and parents to ensure you wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or use a hand sanitizer before attending sessions. All players to bring a water bottle for their OWN USE!! Please NO sharing with other players. NO shaking of hands, fist pumping or any other form of hand contact by players, parents and coaches. If your child is feeling sick or unwell in any way, please do not bring them to training. Please contact me via text or email prior to session. We want to provide hand sanitizer at each session; however as you know this is very hard product to find. If we do come across some we will have it provided for all to use. In the meantime, please bring your own. We hope you understand why we have to take these measures to help protect everyone's health and well-being. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

21.01.2022 Due to weather. PGT Clairvaux training canceled tonight.

20.01.2022 An essential part of your training regime. According to the International Conditioning Association skipping can improve your speed, agility, power, endurance, b...alance and coordination. All of which are must haves for goalkeeping. It also works your calves, glutes and quads, as well as your shoulders, chest back and triceps (from turning the rope). See more

19.01.2022 A good video for those with very little space at home. For the younger ones don't overdo it, start with less repetitions and build up slowly over a period of time. As goalkeepers are expected to be an 11th field player the ball work is a handy addition to the general program.

18.01.2022 As we have mentioned on many occasions, all keepers need to have good ball control. There is a very good section in this video starting at 1:42 on quality ball ...control exercises.Of course these can be done in confined areas. You can add more variations and gradually increase your pace as you improve. See more

17.01.2022 Maintaining and improving correct technique during Self Isolation The following is one of the best exercises you can do on your own It uses minimum equipment ...Solid brick or concrete wall on grass 1 Football Cones or markers Chalk or non-permanent marker Done properly it gives the following benefits Dramatically improves tour volleying and kicking accuracy Improves fast correct setting from a variety of starting positions Enhances your reflexes and fast twitch Improves correct hand position for different saves Improves diving technique for all saves 1. Standing about 5-6 metres away from wall start volleying the ball until you consistently receive the ball back at about chest height with no lateral movement, you may need to move back or forward depending on your serving power. When you are comfortable with this make a mark on the wall and label it 3, and place a cone on the ground, this becomes Starting point A. You should now be able to continually volley/kick ball from A to 3 and receive at about chest height with correct W technique; you are now ready for the next step. 2. Place another cone to the left of A. This now becomes starting point B. Standing at B and still hitting 3 on the wall, you will now need to move laterally to your right to catch the ball with correct W technique. 3. By placing cones further to the left and continuing to hit 3 on the wall you will now increase you lateral movement going from sidestep to full extension diving. 4. You can duplicate this to the Right of A to work on your left. Once you have mastered the first height you are now ready to work at the other heights. Again standing about 5-6 metres away from wall start kicking the ball off the ground until you consistently receive the ball back at about ground level with no lateral movement, you may need to move back or forward depending on your serving power. When you are comfortable with this make a mark on the wall and label it 1. Note starting point, A remain the same for all exercises. You should now be able to continually kick ball from A to 1 and receive at about ground level with correct Scoop or block technique. Repeat steps 2 to 4 above to progress to full extension ground saves on both sides. The same can now be done for Low Dives And High Dives Things to look out for. Consistently hitting the target point. Make sure you do set before executing the save, do not go into the save straight after the serve Try setting as fast as possible after the service. Make sure you attack the ball forward of your starting position Finish the save. Do not be in a hurry to go to the next one If possible, try to video yourself, review and be honest with your self You can send the video to your coach for further evaluation and comments, recommendations. 11.01.2022 Some simple footwork exercises that can be done at home. There are lots of variations here. You can replace the hurdles with cones, doweling, cardboard tubes (w...hatever you can find to use) For younger keepers start with selecting 3 or 4 drill variations and repeat each one 6 to 8 times. You can start with less hurdles (3-4). As you master each drill, you can add the more complex variations. Older keepers can do all of the variations with 6-8 repetitions. Keep in mind these exercises are about technique rather then speed. As you improve you can can pickup the pace.

11.01.2022 Just confirmed. All GK training off till at least 14 April

10.01.2022 Last day of International Goalkeeping Coaching Workshop Webinar. Topic today was Transitional Phase on GK training + quality of unexpected quick reaction - pre...sented by Maciej Kowal - Legia Warsaw. Another exceptional presentation given. Focusing on the key attributes required during defence and attacking phases of the game and ways in implementing it to training sessions, to once again be game like. A big thank you to Milosz Gladoch (founder of IGCW) for organising this conference and also to Miguel Miranda (Head academy coach of Sporting Lisbon - Sporting Clube de Portugal) for inviting PGT and myself to be part of it. Great to have this continued working relationship and support from a exceptional coach and club. Looking forward in being being part of more in the near future.

09.01.2022 With the continuing shut down of our normal training and playing opportunities the coaches at PGT have been working towards providing our academy members, and o...ther goalkeepers who may follow our pages, with some activities that can be useful in keeping fit and improving technique. Hopefully when the restrictions are lifted and play and training begins again you can return to the field better prepared We are linking up with our friends internationally, Joao Santos (formerly Academy Goalkeeper Coach for Sporting Clube de Portugal), Gary Phillips (Head Academy Goalkeeper Coach for Crystal Palace), Miguel Miranda (Academy Goalkeeper Coach Coordinator for Sporting Clube de Portugal), to source a variety of activities to present to you. Given everyone's training space and resources are different, some ingenuity and adaptation may be necessary. If you have a new idea to share with our PGT family on how to manage an exercise or activity please let your coaches know and share your ideas and adaptations of what is presented. Whatever your circumstances, please remember to take care and practice safely.

09.01.2022 Finally PGT Clairvaux will start this evening.

07.01.2022 One of the goalkeepers who has been coached by Miguel Miranda, guest coach at our 2020 January Camp. Miguel has also played a part in the development of Jan Obl...ak (Athletico Madrid), Jose Sa (Olympiacos) and Bruno Varela (Ajax). The PGT January Camp is a tremendous opportunity to work with a coach of Miguel's stature.

07.01.2022 Something slightly different with footwork. Again lots of variations here with emphasis on short quick steps, and balance.

05.01.2022 We will be starting coaching, clinics and camps as soon as possible.
