25.01.2022 This is my FAV abs exercise!! Beginners, lower legs until your lower back lifts, then return to starting position. To make it harder, place arms across chest. You don't have to use the medicine ball :-) http://www.mensfitness.co.uk//abs-workout/2931/medicine-ba
24.01.2022 Want a fun way to learn how to run a longer distance, or just a big fan of Zombies? Well, this app is for you!! Zombies, Run! is an iapp available on the App store (or GooglePlay for Android) and is designed to transform your jog around the block into an action packed adventure where you are the hero. While running you’ll be narrated through the collection of medicines, batteries and ammunitions. But at any time you may need to sprint as zombies will chase you. If they cat...ch you, you lose your supplies! Online syncing is Free, but you do need to pay to download the app. There are many other running games out there just ensure you remember to look out for traffic if you're not on the treadmill. If you decide to give a running game a go or if you have used one before, let me know what you think. Before you know it, you’ll be marathon ready and will have a great time preparing! See more
22.01.2022 Getting bored with the flavour of water? Check this out!! My awesome client Laura brought this in today for ‘show and tell’. She purchased it online at the below link. The result? Flavoured water without added sugar, flavourings and preservatives. Try adding some chilli and mint. Birthday coming up in a few weeks - guess what I’m getting? :-)
22.01.2022 As the weather heats up, try this as an ice-cream alternative. Just peel the banana (this is a must!), cut to the desired serving size and put in a plastic container in the freezer. Tastes just like Barney Bananas!
21.01.2022 I have made a variation of this in the past. Ditch the 1/3 cup of veggie oil as 1tbs is sufficient, and make sure to use salt reduced soy sauce. Swap the veggies out for whatever works with your crew (if the kids only eat mushrooms and tomatoes - use that), and remember the more colours in your veggies - the better! Enjoy :-) http://allrecipes.com//Yummy-Honey-Chicken-Ka/Detail.aspx
21.01.2022 Think you might be addicted to sugar? You might be, and if you watch this ed vid, it's easy to see why and how this can happen. Again it comes down to "moderation" :-) http://ed.ted.com//how-sugar-affects-the-brain-nicole-avena
20.01.2022 136 sleeps til summer! Seems like ages away? Now is the time to look at your lifestyle to see what little changes you can make so you feel swimsuit ready. It might be as easy as eliminating that 1 Coke can per day. Or fitting in an extra walk every week. Small changes to your lifestyle can have a big impact and reduce the pressure to try fad diets when summer hits.
20.01.2022 I really relate to this article. Restrictive deprivation diets often lead to binge eating, self loathing, maybe temporary weight loss, but ultimately weight gain and a vicious cycle that is hard to break. 80/20 rule people!! 80% nutritional, nourishing food - 20% fun! http://www.huffingtonpost.com//if-you-quit-dieting-will-_b
20.01.2022 A shame that Jillian Michaels has quit Biggest Loser, but I understand her concerns. It should always be about a healthy, active lifestyle, and not "how fast can you lose the most weight". The show has changed many lives for the better, but they do need to be very careful. I think Jillian was often the show's 'conscience'. Best of luck to her. http://www.news.com.au//jilli/story-fn907478-1226968325764
20.01.2022 Brrrrr it's cold out there #adelaide ! Warm up with a super healthy Miso Soup. Make enough to freeze! ENJOY!! #cleaneating... Miso Soup Servings: 2 (large) 1 shallot, finely diced 2 teaspoons miso paste 1 vegetable stock cube (I used 1 teaspoon vegetable base) 1 cup mushrooms, sliced 5 oz (less than half of the package) of firm tofu, diced 3 cups water 1 teaspoon diced ginger (I like mine in bigger chunks, but you could mince it a lot finer, if desired) 1 teaspoon shredded dried seaweed (optional, but definitely worth it) 3-4 green onions, chopped 1-2 cups green vegetables, cut up (I had leftover broccoli from my crudite tray a day earlier that I needed to use up), optional 1. Place the chopped shallot, a tablespoon of water, the miso paste, and the vegetable base (or cube) into a pot over medium heat. Cook for 3-4 minutes, mixing well. You can add more water, if necessary. 2. Add the mushrooms and tofu, combine. 3. Add the 3 cups of water, chopped ginger, and seaweed. Bring to a simmer. 4. Add the green onions (exclude some if you would like to use as a garnish) and let the soup simmer for 15-20 minutes. 5. Add the additional green vegetables you are using (if desired) and let soup simmer for another 5 minutes or so.
19.01.2022 The plank / bridge / hover exercise (whatever you would like to call it!) is a great exercise to help strengthen your core. All of my clients perform this exercise. Work towards holding the position for 1min. It's ok if you don't last the full min, keep practicing - you will make it eventually. Link below will show you how. Looking strong Britta!!! http://www.livestrong.com//422264-how-to-strengthen-core-/
18.01.2022 "A 'Healthy' version of Coca-Cola... "? Does that mean all natural ingredients? Interesting... http://www.adelaidenow.com.au//story-fni0dgmb-1227104787982
17.01.2022 5lbs = 2.3kg, 10lbs = 4.5kg, 15lbs = 6.8kg, 20lbs = 9.1kg. Huge isn’t it? Keep chipping away, bit by bit :-)
17.01.2022 Wishing my awesome clients and Facebook followers a fit, healthy and happy 2015. Thank you so much for your support in 2014. If you over indulged last night, don’t beat yourself up over it. It's a new day... a clean slate. I wish the best of luck to all of you and your New Years resolutions. If focusing on your health remember active, nutritious Lifestyles and no crazy fad Diets. Remember FIT is not a destination, it is a way of life xx
16.01.2022 Mindful that it’s believed the ave weight gain per year is 6.75kg just by having 1 can of Coke a day this info (if all true) re: Coca Cola is interesting to say the least. As the bottom line says Moderation, people!
16.01.2022 One for the runners out there :-) http://greatist.com//most-common-running-injuries-and-how-
15.01.2022 Hello everyone, and thank you for liking my new FB page. Stay tuned for healthy hints and tips :-)
15.01.2022 Day 7 of the new year, and I’m yet to post about New Years resolutions, nutrition, lifestyle changes etc. But I felt it hard to write about this stuff when a decent % of our state is on fire. So instead this week’s post I say thank you to all of our heroes. The CFS, MFS, SES, Police, Ambos, Wildlife rescuers and to the neighbours who have opened their homes, the stores who have donated goods and services, the hotels and cafe’s who are offering free food and shelter to Services crew and families affected. So nice to have such a long list of heroes. My thoughts go to those who have lost their homes, I only hope that the Firies catch a break with the weather VERY soon xx #adelaide #CFSsa #SAfires #volunteers
14.01.2022 I’m not confused Di, I’m angry!!! stated categorically by Laura after I issued the same instructions twice - Hilarious! Thanks for the laugh Laura and Amy, always entertaining PT sessions. x
14.01.2022 No more Photoshopping of body shapes in the media!!!!! Imagine for a minute what our society would be like if there was a global ban??? Maybe a world where we aim for a healthy, fit lifestyle instead of adopting potentially harmful diets? Check out the below Before and After Photoshop picture!!
13.01.2022 When watching your weight in this stormy weather, we often turn to soups over salads. This article ranks soups by lowest - highest calorie value. In short Water based minestrone style = yes, Cream based = no!! But we knew that already - right? http://www.healthaliciousness.com//soups-lowest-in-calorie
13.01.2022 By eating a variety of ‘colours’ in each meal, you’re improving your chances of consuming an appropriate amount of essential vitamins and minerals. What’s for dinner tonight? For us Veal Stir Fry. Check out my colours! For colour guides look at: http://www.fitnessmagazine.com//add-more-color-to-your-di/
12.01.2022 Such an amazing, sunny day today guys. If you can afford a lunch break, even if it's just 15 mins - take it outside and go for a walk. It would be great for the body, mind and soul. Enjoy :-)
12.01.2022 It won't happen overnight - but it WILL happen! Just keep chipping away - 1 day at a time :-)
12.01.2022 What you eat in private, you display publicly in your body shape.
10.01.2022 Good luck to all of the City to Bay-ers tomorrow morning. Have a good night sleep and stay well hydrated throughout the run. #Adelaide #CitytoBay
10.01.2022 Christmas party season is now in full swing. Remember this pic, along with the 80/20 rule. 80% unprocessed, fresh food for nourishment and 20% fun. Enjoy the pre-Christmas season people :-)
10.01.2022 No Deprivation Diets people - just think "nutrition" with the occasional indulgence (80/20 rule!). Oh and PLEASE don't weigh yourself too often (no more than once per week) - Scales can mess with your head. Maybe try going by the fit of your clothing or take measurements :-) http://www.huffingtonpost.com//heres-what-happens-when-y_b
10.01.2022 Always check behind you before you weigh in!! Hehehe!!
10.01.2022 It's official... my iPhone is dead!! Message me if you need to contact me.
08.01.2022 Me....? NEVER!!
08.01.2022 So... where you sit influences the way you eat, or the way you eat influences where you sit?? An interesting article. Just stick to window seats or high tables just to be safe :-) http://www.news.com.au//secre/story-fneuz8wn-1227073053069
08.01.2022 Enough said :-)
07.01.2022 Hope you guys feel like this after your workout :-)
07.01.2022 Doing lunges sucks - right? Well if you want toned legs and glutes, doing them as part of your regular routine is a must. My clients will tell you that we do these in some form or another a lot!!! They target multiple muscle groups including the glutes, hamstrings and quadriceps. Calf muscles, abs and your back muscles act as stabilizers. Plus you burn heaps of calories doing them :-) http://www.livestrong.com//513592-the-best-way-to-do-lung/
07.01.2022 A big Happy Birthday to my client Natasha, who celebrated in style at the gym this morning by knocking out 100 full push-ups (on her toes - no knees)!!!! Congratulations, that is such a huge effort. I’m still smiling :-)
06.01.2022 I have 2 celery sticks juiced per day. Definitely helps with water retention. So many health benefits, why not give it a go?
06.01.2022 Maybe it has something to do with my current surrounds, but there are some awesome tapas recipes out there that are perfect as vegetable side dishes to have with your proteins. Yum!!! With this recipe I'd ditch the raisins and reduce the amount of oil. Enjoy - make your veggies fun!! http://eatingwell.com/recipes/spinach_with_chickpeas.html
06.01.2022 If ever you needed extra incentive to quit, or was thinking of taking it up... Think about it x
06.01.2022 Thinking of my clients and boxers hehehe!!
05.01.2022 Your body will thank you for it :-)
04.01.2022 Here's a calorie guide to some popular cocktails and how long you need to spend on the Treadi to work it off. Remember guys... the liver can only handle 1 STANDARD serve of alcohol per hour. If you have a cocktail with 3 shots... that's 3 standard drinks!!! Try and drink at least 1 glass of water between drinks and be kind to your liver. Oh and drink responsibly :-) http://www.popsugar.com//What-Takes-Burn-Off-Cocktail-3611
03.01.2022 Ok so it appears that #Adelaide is still Krispy Kreme crazy. But before you tuck into one (or a 2nd) remember Each glazed doughnut contains 228 calories and 13.1gms of fat (7.1gms Saturated and 53% of the calories). You will have to go on a 25min run just to work it off. Remember - moderation, people!
02.01.2022 Number 10 especially! Don't give up!
02.01.2022 Ok so It’s been a while! Busy nursing one (or more) tears in my hip flexor - an unknown danger to shifting house and my reason for today’s post - LISTEN TO YOUR BODY PEOPLE!!! Most of us can recognise the difference between ‘good’ pain and ‘bad’ pain. The ‘good’ pain tells us that we have worked hard during training and will be rewarded with stronger muscles and better health. The ‘bad’ pain is our body’s way of telling us something is wrong. Listen to your body - and don’t ignore that voice in your head. If you are worried, seek advice. :-)
01.01.2022 The physiological as well as psychological benefits of boxing are HUGE. My reason to start boxing stress relief! Not to mention that it is a lot of fun. Let me know if you are interested in trying a class.
01.01.2022 I know it's cold guys but...
01.01.2022 Did you know that a 60kg person can burn up to 300 calories / hour just by playing games with their children outside? Chores can wait - go have some fun!
