21.01.2022 Service Update regarding COVID-19: Parramatta Holroyd Family Support will continue to remain open and provide our usual services of casework, counselling, advice, referral and advocacy. However, some group programs have been cancelled or are being shortened due to social distancing and space constraints. As a service, it is extremely important for us to ensure that vulnerable individuals remain connected to their support networks during this time that can feel overwhelming ...and unpredictable. In response to COVID-19, we ask those who interact or are involved with our service (from clients to staff) to: Answer the screening questions asked before attending the service or seeing a case manager at home. Regularly wash and sanitize your hands in the service. Use the paper towels provided when drying. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. If you feel unwell at all, please do not attend the office. Please speak to your worker or one of the staff and they will discuss alternative ways of staying connected and supported. If bringing a child to the office, please ensure they are not feeling sick or demonstrating flu-like symptoms or any symptoms associated. As the circumstances may continue to change, well commit to updating clients and other services. Even though were following protocols around social distancing, we still believe in social solidarity. Please be kind to one another and look out for each other - we can get through this together!

14.01.2022 A week out from Christmas and officially the last day of school, our final message of 2019 is one of filled with gratitude. As a service we feel immense privilege to work alongside with wonderful clients and families who inspire us with their resilience and heart. Below is a photo & letter from 6 year old Jaxon who helped with his family to pack a boxes for Operation Christmas Child by Samaritans Purse (https://www.samaritanspurse.org.au//operation-christmas-c/). The init...iative allows families to pack shoeboxes full of age appropriate gifts for children experiencing poverty in overseas countries. Jaxon writes: Hi, My name is Jaxon and I am 6 years old. I hope you enjoy all your gifts and have a very Merry Christmas. Sending you love and well wishes all the way from Sydney, Australia. The drawing below is of me and my 2 year old sister, Avie. We work with amazing families and individuals. May 2020 be a year of love, laughter and kindness.

13.01.2022 As we enter into National Reconciliation Week, we acknowledge the twenty year journey Australia has endeavoured towards a more just, equitable and reconciled nation. This week commemorates two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively. Australians are all In This Together as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

03.01.2022 Dear All, We acknowledge that this is an extremely difficult time for all of us, particularly, those in the community who are already vulnerable. We would like to take the time to reassure you PHFS remains open and continues to provide services to clients in both our Family Support and Staying Home Leaving Violence programs it just looks a little different. We understand that things are constantly changing and we will keep you updated as changes occur.... Changes to Service Delivery The health and safety of our staff and clients is a priority, and as such, we have made temporary changes to how our support is being delivered. We hope these changes will allow us to continue to provide full case management support to all of our clients, while mitigating the risk of COVID-19 infection and/or transmission. Home Visits and Face to Face Contact - Where possible, video conferencing (skype, FaceTime, zoom etc.) and phone communication will now be used in place of home visits and face to face contact. Where this is not possible or practical, staff will be required to screen all clients and take specific hygiene and safety measures to minimise the risk of COVID-19 infection and/or transmission. Groups - While group work is a core component of our service, we have had to make the difficult decision to temporarily suspend all face to face groups at this time. We will be maintaining contact with existing group participants via phone or video conferencing. - We are looking at options for some group work using video conferencing and will keep you updated. Referrals to PHFS Family Support Services and Staying Home Leaving Violence. PHFS continues to accept referrals where they meet our standard program criteria and staff have capacity. If you would like to refer a client to either our Family Support or Staying Home Leaving Violence program, please call our office on 02 9636 8437 during business hours (Mon-Thu 9am-4pm, Fri 9am-12pm). Information and Referral PHFS continues offer information to clients and referrals to other services.
