24.01.2022 The arrival of a new baby is a time of transition for the whole family, but especially for the first born. Having to share the attention of Mum and Dad with a brother or sister, especially in the first few months when they are so demanding can be difficult, but they will grow up to be the best of friends, and that feeling of caring for and looking after the younger sibling will always be there.

22.01.2022 the secret to great expressions is interaction! forget about forced smiles aimed at the camera, I like to photograph the relationship that exists between people. The added bonus is that once I have captured this great moment between Geoff and Evelynn all I have to do is get them to look at me, and the happiness on their faces will still be there.

20.01.2022 There is a special bond that forms between grand parents and their grand kids, and getting to capture that in the studio is a real pleasure. Sometimes mum will come too, and while we are always happy to take a 3 generations picture, the real relationship between grand parents and grand kids often doesn't emerge until mum has left the studio!

19.01.2022 The trouble with dogs is that they live their lives 7 times faster than us, but they are no less part of the family and I always make sure to try and get some photos during a family portrait session. Working with children and animals has its challenges, but it is always worth the effort!

18.01.2022 Heading down to Hobart from Launceston there are a number of side trips that you can take. Many of the little towns that the highway used to travel through have now been bypassed. This church is in Kempton, which now has another reason to take the detour - a whiskey distillery!

15.01.2022 Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon in Arizona, on Navajo land. As the sun travels across the sky, the light comes down one side of the canyon, and then back up the other. For most of the day, the canyon is dark, with a bright patch of light where the sunlight is hitting, but for a couple of minutes each day the light comes straight in and hits the floor, and it lights up the whole place. I handful of dirt thrown into the beam of light gives it dimension and a person moving through the the light/dust is recorded as a ghostlike shape.

15.01.2022 The boardwalk on Liberty Island New York. Taken from the top of the ferry, I have another image taken a short time after this one with the crowd covering the boardwalk. This image has a 1930's feel about it and makes the place look deserted when in fact it was a riot of colour with people from all around the world just seconds later

15.01.2022 You can find the recipe for @east_coast_village_providore 's Pyengana Lamb rack, plus many more in our book Eat Drink Love Tasmania 2 which is now available.

11.01.2022 In the studio, I am looking for a simple elegant image that will look good for 100 years! Remember all those pictures from the 70's where the first reaction is " oh my god, what are they wearing"! Once the clothes and the lighting has been sorted, all I have to do is get you to relax and look like you like each other!

11.01.2022 This image still makes me smile 25 years after it was taken. We have it as an Icetile, the amazing acrylic blocks that we offer to our portrait clients. When I think about my two daughters at that age, this is the image that sums it all up for me. We would love to see your "defining images" -the ones that you would never part with

08.01.2022 We love it when our clients send in pictures of our portraits " in the wild" This is a perfect example of how our design software helps design a set of images that fit perfectly into the available space

08.01.2022 Portfolio boxes are a very intimate way of looking at pictures. Not everyone has lots of wall space, and sometimes there are images from a shoot that dont make it onto the wall but are still an important part of your family story. For these images our portfolio boxes are perfect. pull them out when the family is around and pass the individually matted prints from person to person. They never fail to generate great conversation and happy memories

08.01.2022 Getting the whole family together can be difficult! and this time, getting all the grand children in the same place at the same time has proved impossible, so we are working on a collection of images which, eventually, will have Jillian and all of her grand children in the same place on her wall.

06.01.2022 Moments like this are what I am waiting for. When the fact that they are at a photography studio having portraits made is forgotten. The world is shut out and all that exists is a mother and her baby. Neither of them are concerned about anything else in the world. Its just one on one connection that will last for the rest of their lives, and when this happens, I try to press the shutter button as quietly as I can so as not to break the magic

05.01.2022 Bolduans Bay Oysters Pty Ltd, now commonly known as Tarkine Fresh Oysters, have been in the industry since 1979 and have always had the mission of growing the best possible oysters that Tasmania could deliver. Shucking only small quantities at a time, to ensure visitors get the freshest possible oysters, the creamy texture and sweet, white flesh, combined with iodine rich saltiness of the sea makes each mouthful a delight. Their retail outlet was opened in late 2017 to showca...se the fine produce the area has to offer. Priding themselves in delivering the freshest possible oysters to the table, the cafe offers a range of fresh and cooked variations of oyster plus their secret recipe seafood chowder, naturally featuring their oysters, which has become a signature dish. You can find @tarkinefreshoysters in our newest book Eat Drink Love Tasmania 2.

04.01.2022 Shooting for my book Eat Drink Love Tasmania 2, this recipe is from the archives of the Highfield historic site in Stanley. Highfield house was built between 1832 and 1835 and the recipe and the china are from that early period.

04.01.2022 75 years is a long time, but that is what our lab is offering by way of a no questions asked , unconditional replacement guarantee for all their canvas wall hanging products! Only last week we delivered a completely new set of wall canvas prints to a family who went through the trauma of having their house and all its contents burn to the ground. To be able to say to them that replacing their precious wall art was something we could organise for them at totally no cost was a real pleasure.

03.01.2022 Getting the grandkids all together in the same place at the same time can be difficult, but it is so totally worth the effort! everyone enjoyed that shoot!
