15.01.2022 Bullying has been in the news recently - this ABC program looked at bullying in a school in queensland: http://www.abc.net.au//ian-thorpe-fronts-abc-tv-do/8353362 It's often the case that the methods put in place by schools to prevent bullying don't work. We work with the children being bullied so that the bullies aren't able to have any affect. A 13 year old girl was brought in by her parents as she had missed school for three terms due to bullying. They moved her to a ne...w school but the bullying started again. We did an initial session and she returned to school. She came back after a week and the bullying had not been a problem. She said the girls who had been bullying came up to her but she just laughed at them and they went away. She hasn't been bothered since. Because she didn't respond in the ways the bullying girls expected or were used to they simply went away.

10.01.2022 Clifford Mee tells the following true story: In the early 1980s, a psychologist named Dov Eden published the first in a series of extraordinary results. He could tell which soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would become top performers before they even started training.... In one study he examined comprehensive assessments of nearly 1000 soldiers who were about to arrive for training with their platoons. He had their aptitude test scores, evaluations during basic training, and appraisals from previous commanders. Using this information alone, which was gathered before the beginning of training for the special forces, he was able to identify a group of high-potential trainees who would emerge as stars. And sure enough, the candidates Eden spotted as high-potentials at the outset did SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER than their peers over the 3 months of training. Do how did he do it? Turns out the psychologist Dov Eden just picked out those soldier's that were high-potentials... ...at RANDOM! The chosen soldier's were notified they had been assessed as high-potentials. And the commanding officers of the Israel Defense Forces were also told which particular soldiers had the identified as high-potentials.
