24.01.2022 The Philippine National Rugby League would like to honour Chace Haas who passed away Thursday morning at Gold Coast Hospital. Our prayers and thoughts are currently with the Haas family who are going through this difficult time. We will remember Chace (older brother of Broncos forward Payne Haas) for his radiant smile and out going personality, he could light up any conversation. Chace, a big supporter of the Tamaraws whom his younger brothers all represented as juniors, a c...ourageous individual who was respected by players, coaches and the whole organisation. The PNRL are extremely honoured to have Chace recognise his Philippine heritage, he led the Philippine Tamaraw's on to the field for the rugby league international clash against the Italian Nation team (Azzurri's) October last year, playing for the Italian\Philippine Cup. Chace, along with his family could be seen cheering his brothers (Zeda and Klese), who played in the junior and men's games. It was great to see the support Chace gave to his brother and certainly an event the PNRL family are extremely proud of and will keep close to our hearts. May you rest in peace Chace. This will be the inaugural Sydney 9's and the first Rugby League tournament in Sydney for 2021 hosting 32 teams, on 3 fields, 4 trophies (Cup, Shield, Bowl, Plate), and 1 champion per division.... 11.01.2022 CHALLENGE #1 - As the COVID19 lockdown rules was instigated by the Philippine Government, this left our domestic players in isolation. Coach Marc Lebres who had been working closely with the teams this year on conditioning, technique and game plays, set out the "Team Analysis" challenge to all teams to ensure Ruby League kept ticking in the players hearts and minds during lockdown. The activity also ensured the teams would stay active in League, have fun analysing games and w...ork on communication. Using the Tigers v Broncos Rd 3 game of 2018, each team was set out to watch the game and analyse; attack, defense then provide a team statement. With 3 weeks to complete the challenge, each team provided their presentations well in advance and the content was quite impressive. The final scores were calculated tonight and the points were extremely close, with the North Luzon Head Hunters taking out 1st place, Manila Storm 2nd place and Cavite Tigers 3rd place. PNRL would like the thank all the players who participated and the 4 judges who marked the presentations - Sheedy Paul, Marv Pace, Rene Payne and Coach Marc Leabres. CHALLENGE #2 - Coming Soon.

Today we vote for the Hooker position as we say Mahal Kita to ex Jet legend Jimmy Marcus! Jimmy James Marcus was a huge part of Bilambil's success in the modern day era. A super crafty player and extremely versatile, a common tactic was for Jimmy to start at lock and swap out to hooker throughout the game when strategically needed. He wore the number 13 in Bilambil's premiership winning 2011 side and whilst that day will always be remembered for a Dan Kaufman try in extra time to win, Jimmy scored a fantastic solo try (see in comments) himself to get Bilambil right back into the game and gave that extra belief that this game was the Jet's for the taking! He also was a proud representative of the Philippines National Rugby League side and was a huge reason for their early success from being an unknown rugby league country to now a world ranking country in rugby league. Upon hearing the news of being nominated as Hooker of the Decade, Jimmy was so excited he was quoted saying "if I win this award I will be putting the boots on again for season 2020!"
