03.01.2022 Does your child snore at night? If so, they might be doing something known as mouth breathing. This is usually due to a blockage in the nasal passage, like congestion from allergies or colds, enlarged tonsils or adenoids, a deviated septum, or tongue placement. Side effects of long-term mouth breathing include: Slower than normal growth rate Increased crying at night Irritability... Poor concentration at school Excessive daytime tiredness It can also impact the shape of your child’s head and face as they grow. Certain physios may be able to help with mouth breathing, but it’s always best to start at your GP to figure out the cause. Early intervention is best, so if your child is a mouth breather, get it checked out sooner rather than later. #physio #physiotherapy #paediatrics #mouthbreathing
