05.01.2022 We would like to honour Gail Burley of Alstonville for nearly 60 years of service to the Hairdressing Industry. When Gail finished he apprenticeship in 1964 she was paid 14 pound and 99 shillings. Her boss would give her 15 pound and ask for the penny back. She worked overtime everyday and never got a cent more. A perm cost $18 back then (9 pound) so more than half her wage. Gail had the pleasure of having many famous people have their hair done by her including Lady Hoskins, Lady Ritchie and Jessica Harcourt our first Miss Australia. Gail moved to Alstonville 30 years ago and we have had the most wonderful relationship with her ever since. At this time Gail isn’t looking to retire and enjoys the many clients she see each week. Thank you Gail for doing our industry proud.
