23.01.2022 AN UNEXPECTED VISITOR This friendly kookaburra dropped by to share a snack (or a snake!), on the balcony of a home in Red Rocks. Marcus Tarrant said the kookaburra arrived with a writhing snake in its mouth.... Three of its friends came along to see our reaction and bask in the glory, along with our two favourite magpies, he said. The kookaburra’s delivery is a gentle reminder that the snake season is most definitely here.
23.01.2022 I think there’s a real vibe on the island since Melbourne has been back. We’re so happy to have them and I think they’ve felt welcomed by the Phillip Island community. They support the economy and without them a lot of our businesses couldn’t exist. - Mandy Cannon and Katy Gilbert, Front Room #welcomebackmelbourne
23.01.2022 It’s been incredibly busy since Melbourne has opened up crazy but amazing. So nice to see so many people enjoying what we once took for granted just the simple pleasure of having a coffee. - Emily Lowrie and Josh Goessens, M & O Cafe and Tapas #welcomebackmelbourne

11.01.2022 WILD WINDS CAUSE POWER OUTAGE Wild winds this morning left properties across Phillip Island without power. AusNet crews were out early after trees fell across a powerline.... Power was cut to Silverleaves, Sunset Strip, Cowes and Ventnor and Phillip Island Road was closed at Five Ways. Properties at Smiths Beach, Summerlands, San Remo and Rhyll also lost power due to the storm, but most were restored by 11am. Emergency services responded to calls for assistance across the area, mainly due to trees down. For more information, go to outagetracker.com.au
