24.01.2022 Lots of brakes this week. Fitted the AC Industries disc brake kit and MC to the 59 Splitty. Nice kit and goes together very well. Also fitted up the carbies to the motor to start mocking every thing up. Ghia Cab also got a front brake overhaul with new German discs. New headlights finished off the main electrical stuff. Off to the panel and paint man next. Taipan buggy was picked up and delivered back to its home. TLE has gone into storage until the lock down is over. Spent Friday on my 68 with big clean underneath and started repair on the battery tray and rear valance. Have a great weekend all.

15.01.2022 Week or two sorting out the electricals on this 65 Ghia amount other jobs. Putting a kit thru the carbie didn’t fully sort the poor running so packed up and sent off to the VolksDoctor in SA for a full overhaul. Turned around in a week, fitted and now the 1600tp is running sweetly. Electricals all bought back to life and changed to Aussie RWC spec with side lights in the sealed beams and out of the indicators. Horn sorted after rewiring to factory spec and horn ring contacts ...repaired and insulated. No more beep beep when turning the wheel now. Engine serviced and a couple of oil leaks sorted. Test drive was great till I ran outta petrol in the middle of town. Plenty of friendly tourists around to help me push her out of the round about. PA saved me with a can of juice and we were on our way again. Even broke open the piggy bank and purchased a new sand blasting cabinet now my compressor is sorted. Have a great weekend all. See more

14.01.2022 Bit of a two tone theme to the place this week. 73 Bay in for minor service , wheel bearing and front brake overhaul. Chasing parts for the 59 Splitty still. Wiring loom is on the short list now , so hopefully we will see it early next month. Finished off the engine change on the 65 Beetle ute. Wiring modified, fuel delivery modified, fired up and a couple of laps of the test paddock. Owner will be fabricating the rear engine mounts and refitting the tipping tray. Back onto the Ghia Cab next week. Did a few hours on my 1200 40hp Monaro Motors SU project too. Started blasting the old SU’s and aircleaners. Fitted a recycled muffler too. Have a great grand final weekend all and I hope the best teams win on the day

14.01.2022 Lots of Karmann Ghia action this week. 69 Cab off to panel and paint. 65 Ghia dropped off for mechanical and electrical for RWC. First jobs were tank out and cleaned, all fuel lines replaced, carbie stripped, soda blasted and kit put thru it. Crumbly fuel line is a stark reminder why these need to be replaced regularly. Still held fuel but just cracked and fell apart when removed. 59 Kombi had the brake lines made up and fitted. Filled with fluid and bled. Shocks trail fitted to work out what ones we needed to order. Axles assembled , packed and fitted. Lots of parts ordered. Moving ahead. Fuel system , oil cooler and filter fitting next. Even managed to get a couple of hours on my 68 with trail fitting the new battery tray and good rear valance to replace the very banged up one. Have a good weekend all.

11.01.2022 Couple of weeks worth of updates. 66 Splitty back in for door hinge repair and seatbelt mount repair. Fitted the top lap mounts too. Back to the owner for the last of the interior fit out then RWC time. Red 65 Ghia had the last of the mechanical done, long test drive and delivered back to the owner for interior fit out. 65 Beetle ute in for motor swap. 1600 injected Type 3 motor out and Type 4 motor in. Will be a stump puller when she is done. Lots of fuel system and electric...al to do. No work the past couple of weeks on the 59 Splitty. Still waiting for the wiring loom. 69 Ghia Cabriolet picked up from the paint and panel guy. New roof is the next job. Then a new set of tyres on the freshly painted rims. Lastly had a play with one of my other engines in storage that’s gonna get set up with my Monaro Motors twin SU kit. Have a safe and happy weekend all. See more
