22.01.2022 A massive weekend for @p.i.b.c. Congratulations to @sage_g_ for winning her first Pro Junior on the Gold Coast. 22.01.2022 After a 2 year hiatus, we are very stoked to announce that the Malibu division will be returning in the 2019/20 season. After many conversations with club and committee members, it was decided that a Mal division is an essential part of our Boardriders club. This season, Mals will be held as part of our Aggregate competitions, utilising a mixed male and female format to ensure that as many people as possible get to surf. We couldn't be more stoked to be bringing this division... back. Just as a reminder, as per the Surfing Australia rulebook, 'the board length is minimum 9 feet measured from the nose to the tail on the deck of the surfboard', and the judging criteria for the division will be a combination of rewarding both new and old school surfing, with 'traditional major maneuvers with the highest degree of difficulty in the most critical sections of the wave to receive the higher scores'. In addition to this, we are introducing a number of floating events for this season. These floating events will be wave specific, and utilise the WSL Big Wave Tour format (Red, Orange and Green lights) to ensure that the events are run in the best possible conditions for the designated break. If the conditions are not good, the event will not happen. These events are experimental with limited entries, helping to ensure that the best possible surfers for the break will be chosen to compete. For a full list of our floating events, visit the PIBC website. See more

16.01.2022 RALLY POSTPONED Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions on group gatherings and the need to social distance, the rally planned for Sunday 29th has been postponed until a later date. Community opposition to the project continues to grow as Bass Coast Shire Councillors agreed on a motion this week reiterating opposition to AGLs plans for Western Port.... Council declares its strong opposition to the development of fossil fuel assets on Western Port and, in particular, opposition to the AGLs proposed gas import jetty project for Crib Point. Cr Wheelan Said. Thanks for your support and keep an eye on this space. Stay safe in these crazy times! #fightforyourbackyard @patagonia @belindabaggs

14.01.2022 The numbers are in... the @p.i.b.c Single Fin and Bushfire Benefit Bash raised $5,500 for bushfire relief to be passed on to our major sponsor @bendigobankofficial who will expertly manage and distribute in their parternship with @redcrossau. With the @anzacalley event just past, this was another reminder of the depth and generosity of the surfing community on and around Phillip Island, as well as the importance of a NFP platform that puts 100% of its resources back into the ...local community. Thanks to all surfers and members who made the event a success. Special shoutouts to @gageroadsbrewingco for the karma keg ($1100) raised, Pete de Roth for amazing catering, Heidi Crozier for organising the big ticket auction items, @eisenproperty for lordish karma and going big in the auctions, @anzacalley crew for prize donations, @simoncheaper for a vintage single fin donation for the auction and @francismeade and Rob for hosting the most unorthodox, confusing yet entertaining auction in recent PIBC memory. . . #vicfires #victorianbushfires #phillipisland #visitphillipisland #local @cfavic @surfingvictoria @wsl #visitphillipisland @phillipisland_advertiser @basscoastshire @phillipislandnp @ Phillip Island Boardriders Club See more

12.01.2022 Cowes Jetty 11:00am March 29 Calling on our members and friends in the community to band together and show our concern for the Western Port and surrounds.... Gas company AGL wants to permanently moor a 290m vessel in the Western Port as part of its proposed gas import terminal. This process will include sucking up 100 million litres of sea water per day before discharging that volume back into the bay with chlorides and a 7 degree temperature change. There has been little environmental and ecological research done on the potential effects this will have. AGL also claim that the proposal has not been met with community opposition so please come down and show that we do care. @belindabaggs @patagonia @patagoniaaus

05.01.2022 TODAY IS THE LAST DAY FOR SUBMISSIONS PLEASE ACT NOW ! @surfrideraus @aglenergy have decided that Victorias Westernport Bay, designated as a Wetland of International Importance by the Ramsar Convention, home to 3 of Victorias National Marine Parks and the French Island National Park, would be a great place for a dirty big gas terminal. At a time when Australia is facing the threat of an environmental systems collapse, this would spell disaster for the coastline, waves a...nd beaches within this area, all vital recreational, economic and ecological treasures for the local communities who call it home. Weve only got a couple of days left to stand up for our oceans on this one, with submissions to voice your opposition closing on the 26th of August. A huge shout out to @environment_victoria who have been incredible on this campaign, making the submission process SO EASY! Simply tap on their submission building link in our bio and youll be helping #savewesternport with a unique submission in a matter of minutes! The gas would be as dirty as it gets, transported either from destructive fracking activities in Queensland or imported from overseas (yes, you read that right, Australia, the largest exporter of LNG in the world will have to import gas into Victoria). The LNG will be liquefied at minus 161 degrees during transportation to Crib Point and then warmed back into gas using seawater from Westernport Bay. Once the warming process is completed, upwards of 450 million litres of chlorinated water, would be discharged back into the bay daily and approximately 7 degrees colder than when it was sucked up. This could prove to be an ecological disaster for unique and sensitive ecosystems around Mornington Peninsula and Phillip Island, home to countless species such as the Australian Fur Seal, Weedy Sea Dragon, the world famous Little Penguins, in addition to the Southern Right & Humpback Whales who use Westernport Bay as a rest stop on their annual migration. Surfrider Foundation Australia stands against this potentially catastrophic gas terminal. We want clean coasts and climate action. We want swell on the horizon. Not gas tankers. @ Surf Beach

05.01.2022 PIBC have just started a @wsl fantasy surfing league. There will be prizes throughout the season so join up and make your team.
