25.01.2022 Gotta love that reach! Over the two story house and over the back fence to the neighbour's tree. Great client as always. I'm so lucky to have respectful clients so often. With only one non-payer in over 20 years it really is a blessing to work for the good people of Australia. We rock and so many people make such good cups of tea!

24.01.2022 Oh what a beautiful morning. Spring is just around the corner. If you haven't sprayed for curly leaf you've got about 48hrs left if you're lucky! Good luck with your orchards guys.

22.01.2022 Threading through garden beds and verandahs and ever so gently placing the 22,500kgs of Aussie engineering, on a Yankee truck !, between veggies and other wonderful stuff. Some of which became my lunch! That's the real perks of the job right there. If only there was that much time every day. A wonderful return customer's fears and frustrations sorted with only a patch of spring onions (and a broccoli plant) a "bit" compacted with a nice freshly rolled edge of the garden to show for it. Happy spring time everyone and take good care of each other.

21.01.2022 Here's a few end of 2020 shots from around Gippsland. Thank you to all my wonderful clients for your custom. It's been a fantastic hard slog this year and next year's work load begins tomorrow! Saws: sharp and fueled, truck: ... awesome, operator: teeth and bed. Happy new Gregorian year!

14.01.2022 Thank you Fleming's Tree Services for the referral to an awesome client. I don't think they were expecting me to drink all their milk! It was a thirsty job this one.

13.01.2022 A few jobs in Leongatha in the last few weeks. I think the whole town saw me when I went up top to look at the view!

12.01.2022 A massive thank you to Kara at Ksigns for the spectacular signage. Great service and a fair price. Just remember everyone! This amazing contraption does weigh nearly 24,000kgs so if I don't wave back don't be upset... I do have hands free though!

11.01.2022 When there's only one tiny branch on the side opposite the house it might be a good insurance move to remove the threat and allow the trees in the right spot to take up the space. Minced the pesky Cypress tree for good measure too. Nothing wasted as all the firewood was saved, leaves mulched and some perfect milling logs still to move...

08.01.2022 Here's a couple of prunes I prepared about three years ago. Unfortunately the this tree had developed a lean in an unwanted direction and needed some hefty "adjustment" so most of it is firewood. There is a resident Koala in this patch now and she didn't move all day. Happy days.

07.01.2022 This first job after taking delivery was going to be about 15 climbs over 100 feet in a row. A long couple of days. The truck looks so far away sometimes! No more Boom Sherrin but at least the Starprobe smoothly slews soaring skyward so silently...!

06.01.2022 The right way and the wrong way. Here's a prune I did about 3-4 years ago and a prune another mob did about 2 years before I got there. To be sure, I didn't do the one with the spider web in it. Just because they can't run away doesn't mean we should treat trees with disrespect. It will take another 10 years for that there dodgy prune to grow over and the poor tree will be at risk of parasitic infections until then. If you want your trees pruned with love then you know who to call. Thanks to a long time client for supplying the photos.

05.01.2022 We received an email from the manufacturer of the mighty Starprobe! This is what makes Australia the greatest land of all. Real Aussie ingenuity and dedication to perfection and then taking the time to speak with me and then to ask around and find al this out just on a whim. I am truly grateful for people being kind for the sake of being kind. Kinda feel a kinship with old Les too... Dear Phillip, CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT AUSTRALIA, was a company formed in the Seventies and... was eventually amalgamated with the CFC Group in 2003. It had several integral people within, firstly a gentleman, Kevan Wacey who seemed to be key to its overall success. There was a man affectionately known as the Mad Professor Les Hodges, who was instrumental in the design of the travel towers. They started producing the travel towers in the Eighties right through until the last unit that was despatched to a Queensland electrical board in 2002. There was other expertise from several people and a full production crew, another quite notably was Mark Stephens whose technical aptitude was revered and he was a ‘go to’ with many products. He remained within the CEA/CFC group until most recently where he retired. Yes, these travel towers were designed and built by what was formally CEA here in Melbourne for customers like Sherrin and other Electrical Boards/authorities. Also, the company was an authorized distributor and service/parts businesses for OEM such as Furakawa, Bobcat, Samsung, Volvo, Doosan and Gehl. After the amalgamation with CFC Group 2003 it was decided that production would discontinue as a lot of the managerial expertise was lost and this particular product required certification every 5-10 years and regular maintenance. The current chairman decided in 2003 that they would not carry on with production and would only help local existing customers with maintenance and inspections thereafter. This carried on for a few years and naturally petered out. All of the drawings, records, research and development would have been archived and eventually shredded. JCB CEA is part of the PART OF THE CFC GROUP OF COMPANIES and is a leading distributor for world-renowned capital equipment brands primarily JCB products with complementing brand additions which include Atlas Copco and Dynapac. With a recent acquisition in May of ELB Equipment which encompasses the Ditchwitch, Komptech, Ringomatic, Diamond2, ScreenPop and Track Stack products. We have been operating for almost 40 years. We supply a diverse range of equipment to many industries including construction, agriculture, government, defence, waste management, mining and civil works. JCB CEA is a privately owned business with 5 branches, over 70 dealer outlets and more than 280 employees. We provide sales, parts and service Australia-wide through our network of branches and dealers. Best regards, Brendan https://www.facebook.com/jcbcea

05.01.2022 The first nectarines and apricots of the season. Let's enjoy our fresh home grown organic produce. Don't be scared to give your fruit trees a summer prune. All those shoots heading straight up aren't going to help the situation much. It's tricky yet simple. The plant will let you know too. Yum yum!!

05.01.2022 A fantastic client today took some photos! It was fun to take them up 40 metres in the air to see the view and get some aerial shots of their home. I was unaware that 130 feet up could be a little daunting! Well worth it for the smiles when we got back to ground level. Enjoy your firewood and your safe playground for the kids guys. Happy times.

05.01.2022 A few climbing shots from the vault to share while the weather clears. Most of my clients are so inspiring and happy it makes my job an absolute pleasure. 20 years and counting with so many cups of tea and vat fulls of milk! Let's keep our back yards safe and ensure we plant appropriately so that all flora and fauna flourish on our most ancient of all the lands.

04.01.2022 Here's a couple of shots of the camouflage motif before the finishing touches went on. Love that reach! Big thanks for the great photos and vids. Will do a short video if I can save 'em off messenger!!!

04.01.2022 It was a long walk back to the truck to refuel the saw this morning. The shed is ready for a new roof and nothing can fall on it.

03.01.2022 As it's raining in Gippsland just before Christmas... Gotta love 4 seasons in a day! With the acquisition of the "new" Acco and subsequent business cards, I looked out the old cards featuring the mighty 1967 Dodge 460. The blue cards were printed by The Press Gallery Printers at Fish Creek, unfortunately the owner has recently passed away and my heart felt condolences go out to the family for their loss. Too young. Way too young. The Dodge started out with me as a horse ...truck and quickly became a tray truck where it did a lot of work and we did all the loading and unloading by hand. Later it morphed into a tipping tray whereby the unloading was much quicker and easier. It was a beautiful and reliable truck. Unfortunately, due to a very poor choice in "life partner", the Dodge is no more. The unbreakable 318 V8 engine was moved on and is still being enjoyed. Now I have air-conditioning, a heater and the mighty Starprobe! It's been a fantastic journey for Phill's Trees & Tower Hire over the last 20 years and I thank all my valued clients for their continued custom. Thank you Pazzaz Printing for the current stock. Take care of each other and our home/planet and rest assured I will attend to your arboreal needs as they arise. See more
