25.01.2022 Tonight I thought I'd share an older image I took a little while back at a property just South of Ipswich. I hung around well after the sun had set and I waited for most of the main colour to fade away just in hope of a capturing a more dramatic sky. Enjoy
25.01.2022 Pink Mulla Mulla or Ptilototus exaltatus Nees at Cawnpore Lookout near Middleton, Outback QLD. The Outback is going to come to life again after the current rain. I'd love to get back out there again later in the year
25.01.2022 About the only good thing to come out of any bushfire and all the smoke is a pretty darn colourful sunset. Enjoy.
24.01.2022 OK.. I'm over it.. It's so dry and depressing at the moment. Can it just rain already? Hands up who would be happy with rain or a good storm for Christmas this year? I would ... I'd love to see something like this that I captured at Purga again sometime very soon! Enjoy! Feel free to share with your friends.
23.01.2022 Sunset Reflections - As soon as I saw the golden afternoon light and the reflection of the windmill shimmering away in the water I instantly fell in love with this scene. Enjoy and feel free to share.
23.01.2022 How was your long weekend?? We spent a quiet Australia Day on the beach at Bribie Island exploring the dunes and the World War II fortifications with the boys. I had to take it easy as I've only just got out of my moonboot but it was still a great day.... The recent fires have burnt out large sections along the beach but there is some green starting to grow again. It made for a great contrast against the sand and sky. Enjoy
23.01.2022 The bushfires have been so bad of late and I feel so sorry everyone affected by them. I haven't been able to venture out of the house at all but my mate James went out to Tarome near Aratula last night and took few images of the Cunninghams Gap/Mt Cordeaux fire that is raging in the Main Range National Park.
21.01.2022 I love the feeling of isolation you get when standing on top of a large sand dune like this. Not a soul in sight. No footprints or tyre tracks anywhere. I find it really relaxing and it's a place I could spend a very long time taking it all in. Located between Birdsville and Windorah, Outback QLD.
20.01.2022 As I mentioned a few posts back my old PC (11 years old) pretty much died awhile ago and I couldn't process any photos or do anything at all really. Hence why I hadn't been sharing much or even out taking new images. Since I've been sitting around the house doing nothing with this dodgy ankle I've been itching to look at some images on something other than my phone so I thought it was time to upgrade computers to something a bit more powerful and modern... So I did! Let's ju...st say.. I can't wait now for my ankle to heal so I can get back out there and do what I love. It's been way to long! This image was taken a few years back out on the Darling Downs on a bit of a failed storm chase with James Chambers Imagery. It was blowing a gale but there was just something about the scene that I just loved! Enjoy
19.01.2022 Feral donkeys seen along the Diamantina Development Rd just after sunrise between Windorah and Birdsville in Outback Western Queensland. Feral donkeys were first brought to Australia as pack animals as a replacement to horses, which could not stomach the native poisonous plants. Recent estimates are at over 5 million animals Australia wide. They have been declared a pest, owing to their damage to vegetation and erosion of soil. Enjoy and feel free to share.
19.01.2022 Having a whale of a time! These guys are so impressive and all within a short drive and boat trip from Brisbane! If you never have never been whale watching... You should!... #brisbanewhalewatching #redcliffe
19.01.2022 Enjoying a great evening with a fantastic laser show and watching The Lion King under the stars at Spear Lilly Park, Ripley. #eccoripley #providenceripley #ripley #southripley #ipswich #ipswichqld #lasershow #lasers #underthestars #movieinthepark #spearlillypark #exploreipswich #ripleyvalley #queensland #park #movie #thelionking
18.01.2022 Did you know that Birdsville has a lagoon on the edge of town that is brimming with birdlife? You can access the lagoon from a few different locations around town but we chose to setup camp at the back of the caravan park which backs right on to the water. What a fantastic town!! It really is amazing!
18.01.2022 Relics of the Past - Currawinya National Park is located near Hungerford in South West Queensland, Australia, approximately 830km west of Brisbane. It's part of the mulga lands bioregion which is an area of dry, red sandy plains with small trees and shrubs. The Paroo River, lined with coolabah, river red gums and yapunyahis is a major feature that passes through the park. At 334,000 hectares, Currawinya is one of Queenslands largest national parks. The park is also home to... two large lakes, separated by only a few kilometres of sand dunes, they are the centre piece of the park. Lake Numalla is freshwater and the slightly larger Lake Wyara is saltwater. Currawinya is also home to a population of greater bilbies enclosed within a 25 square kilometre predator-proof fence. It really is an amazing place to visit and it is one of my favourite National Parks that I've explored. It has so much to offer visitors. I really think I need to go back again! Enjoy
16.01.2022 South Ripley | QLD I took this a few months ago just after sunrise during Winter out in Ripley. It's one of the last old buildings left close to the Providence estate. I must say I'm glad I spent so much time capturing the area and it's hidden treasures over the past 13 years as it has now changed so much. Enjoy!
13.01.2022 Eromanga, QLD - Knot-A-Saurus Park Lachlan had to take a few photos of these impressive sauropod sculptures after we visited the Eromanga Natural History Museum. This was a great place to have a break and stretch our legs. Cheers Phil
13.01.2022 Happy Australia Day to all the Aussies out there! Enjoy your celebrations and be safe!
12.01.2022 Outback Driver Reviver Located between Birdsville and Bedourie on the Eyre Developmental Road you can find this very unique roadside rest area. It has all the comforts of home. Both my kids had a blast looking around here and they even had a go mowing the lawn. ... Enjoy.
12.01.2022 One cold Winter morning I was wondering around the beautiful Gostwyck Chapel grounds near Uralla when I spotted this scene in the thick fog. It was an instant favourite when I saw it. Enjoy and feel free to share with your friends.
12.01.2022 Hi everyone! I thought i'd share this one again as it's still my number 1 favourite sunset to date. I'm hoping one day I'll capture a better one,but who knows? Who'd like to see some of my other favourites?... Enjoy and feel free to share.
12.01.2022 As 2019 draws to a close I'd like to take a moment to wish everyone a very safe and a very happy New Year. This year started off well for us with lots of adventures and fun times. The last 3 months, due to injury.. not so fun ... But bring on 2020 and whatever it holds in store! ... Enjoy (Image location, Bundamba Lagoon, Ripley. Feel free to share)
11.01.2022 The green grass on the Southern Downs at the moment is great to see. I'm always amazed just how quickly everything comes back to life after decent rain. The mountain in the background is Mt Sturt as viewed from the Swan Creek area just East of Warwick, QLD. The small community of Yangan is located near the base of this small mountain. If you've never visited, now is the time to go for a drive and explore the region. You won't see it looking any better. ... Enjoy!
10.01.2022 I am really saddened by the utter devastation these bush fires are causing to families, towns, properties, bushland and our precious wildlife all across our country. I really hope that there is relief in the near future for those who so desperately need it. My thoughts are with everyone affected.
10.01.2022 The drive between Windorah and Birdsville in Western Quesnsland is amazing. There is so much to see in such a big, wide open landscape. These Sandhills, West of Windorah are just one of the things you will see on the drive. The view from the top is unreal! Have I mentioned before how much I love sand dunes? Cheers Phil
10.01.2022 Smoke and the Windmill What a shocking day today. That heat was unreal.. The fires are so bad.. My thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected by them over the past few weeks. Let's hope there is a reprieve in the near future. This photo was taken out in the Scenic Rim near Rosevale.... Hands up if you love a good windmill as much as me! Enjoy.
09.01.2022 On our recent Outback QLD trip we really wanted the kids to experience all that the amazing things that makes the Outback so special. The wildlife, the people, the vast open plains, the water in places you would never imagine water could be and the quirkiness and cleverness of those people who call this harsh but amazing part of the county home. We had taken the kids to a small town called Eromanga, West of Quilpie for their first taste of QLD dinosaurs, where we stumbled across this old bomb of a Falcon.. I had to take a photo! I'd love to know the story behind this.
08.01.2022 What a fantastic light show we just got treated to over Ipswich tonight!! It just doesn't get any better than that. Big chunky bolts!! I love it Enjoy
06.01.2022 How great has all this recent rain been!! Yesterday, Christine, the boys and I went for a little drive to check out all the green grass, the creeks and streams that have come back to life after the recent rain. We also called in for a quick visit to my parents farm at Emu Vale to see the change to the mountains after the long dry and recent fires.... The mountain in the background is Mt Bauer and is located approx 27km East of Warwick. A few kilometres from the small community of Emu Vale. For those of you who don't know already, this is where I grew up. Right at the base of this mountain. I spent my primary school years attending Emu Vale State School which was only 3km away. Sadly, the school is now long closed, but I hold some fond memories of my childhood here. These days my 2 boys love going to visit Grandma and Pop and exploring along the creek and in the bush just like I used to when I was little. Enjoy the green grass and feel free to share with your friends.
06.01.2022 Did you know that Birdsville's town water supply comes from an artesian bore? The artesian bore system was drilled in 1961 and has a water temperature of between 97 and 99 degrees and a closed head pressure of 1,200 kPa and an unrestricted flow of 40 litres per second. Water from the artesian bore is cooled through a series of cooling channels and a parallel plate heat exchanger. The reservoirs and reticulation system were constructed in 1998. Another interesting fact is th...at many outback towns do not have the need for hot water systems like we do in a typical suburban household. Enjoy
04.01.2022 Hello everyone! Again, it's been awhile since I have been on here and for that, I apologise. The last few weeks have been a bit of a roller coaster ride for me. I had a little bit of an accident a few weeks back and ended up having to have surgery to reconstruct my ankle.... So, I am housebound for quite some time and I only just started to feel like doing something rather than watch TV. So I thought I'd catch up on a few photos from previous trips. Now my PC is getting pretty old and slow and it frustrates me to no end when I try and do anything photo related on it. So until I can afford to get it upgraded or update it I have no choice but to just do a few rough edits on my phone (which is good enough for FB). So please bear with me. This image was taken on our little family Outback holiday back in June. This little old truck was located just outside the small town of Dulacca, QLD. I can't drive past anything like this without having to pull over for a look. Anyway, enough from me. Please enjoy and see you all again soon :)
04.01.2022 There is something about the colours of the Outback and those expansive views that keep drawing me back. I'm ready to get back out there again!
03.01.2022 Birdsville Lagoon We'd set up our base camp at the edge of the lagoon for a few days. Despite being very cold and windy the few days we were there, the area was brimming with bird life. I did a few very chilly sunrises and captured quite a few species of birds down here while Christine and the kids got warm beside our fantastic little fire and got ready for some huge days of exploring. ... Enjoy the real Outback colours in this one and feel free to share. Cheers Phil
03.01.2022 Hi all! My photography has been pretty quiet as I am still in the final stages of recovery after my little ankle rebuild. But I'll get back to it one day soon. However my other hobby of growing succulents and plants is more than filling in my time... ... Just in case you're interested, head on over and have a look at my other page that my wife and I have. Ipswich Plants & Succulents. We make decorative succulent planters, pots, teapots etc. They make great gifts and decorations for the home. I'd appreciate anyone who would like to give us a "like" and help us on our way. https://www.facebook.com/IpswichSucculents/ Cheers Phil
02.01.2022 Hi all! It's been a while between posts again but I though I'd share a quick mobile shot of the fantastic sky we just had here in Ipswich. What a beauty!! I hope everyone is staying healthy in these uncertain times and making the most of the restrictions we all have to adhere to. It sure is an interesting time in our history. ALL the best - Phil
02.01.2022 I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who has hung around over the past year or two while I've been absent from posting and sharing. As I have previously said I will be back in the New Year sharing new images more regularly from our adventures and travels (more windmills for sure ). I am now just waiting for my ankle to heal a little bit more and I will be good to go. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all! ... Image taken in the Lockyer Valley, QLD. Feel free to share with you friends
01.01.2022 Yesterday I tagged along with James Chambers Imagery for a pretty amazing day of storm chasing. We almost made it as far West as Chinchilla. We were lucky enough to find some very heavy rain from multiple storms, some flooding in some areas, dust storms and a pretty darn good lightning show to end the chase just North of Jandowea. It was great to get back out amongst it!! ... Enjoy See more
