This is where old tools are still in use, pencils are still vital to every days purpose, and paper gets rolled out on the bench for a job. Its where another not-quite-empty paint tin is jammed under the bench, paintbrushe...s are carefully oiled before storing in their box for the next job, and wood scraps and off-cuts are still used to stir the paint. 04.01.2022 Handmade. I get to make things with my hands, in this job that they call signwriting. I use pens and pencils, I use paint brushes and spray guns, I use a bit o...f 24 carat gold here and there, I use metal and wood and glass, I use walls and doors and windows, and Ive used a hell of a lot of paint in my time. These days I use computers and laser cutters too, but every job I do; no matter how advanced the technology, always starts and finishes in my hands. The computer might help a little, but all those skills used in traditional signwriting practices, still come to the fore, when spacing, and laying out, and positioning, and applying, and lining up, and balancing, and measuring, and layering, and making sure each individual letter and character is in the right place, and ensuring that the job gets done well, and gets done right. There is a whole lot of satisfaction that comes with working with your hands, and knowing youve made something that becomes part of the world, and part of someone elses life, for a very long time. 01.01.2022 TAKING CARE OF THE CUSTOMER There is a lot of work that goes into producing good signage, and thats before anything even gets paint on it. We work closely with each one of our customers, to ensure we achieve exactly what it is that they are after.... Wether I am working on a traditional handpainted piece, or applying my work using modern signwriting applications; I always take the time required, to ensure my customer is happy, at every stage of development. If the spacing is not quite right, well work on it until it is. If the customer would like the size adjusted, well work on it until its just right. If theyre not sure about colours, or materials, well work on it until the customer is happy with what they want. If the price is an issue, well work on it to find options that suit the customers needs. Working with a customer is never a one way street. Our mission is to provide what the customer has asked for, to present them with what that could look like, and provide true value for their investment. That value includes listening to their feedback, navigating through any part of the offer that can be adjusted or changed to better suit their time and budget constraints, providing options and pathways when alternatives are needed, and taking the time to provide a service that caters to the customer. A customer doesnt always know what is involved, or what is possible until they see it on paper. Taking the time to engage and discuss with them, how they want to use that information; is a dance between people, that allows space for the digestion of information, and a little back and forth to work towards the customers end goal.
