24.01.2022 Important I needed to fix two of my nails, so I made a little pictorial of how I remove gel (AKA shellac) without damaging nails. I know that many people believe that gel damages their nails, but what actually damages your nails are the preparation and removal methods that are often used. Never let anyone drill or pry gel off your nails - this is just a cheap timesaver and is extremely harmful! The only buffing I do is with a foam block, very lightly. I then apply cu...ticle oil to protect the skin while they soak. The nails need to be tightly wrapped in foil with pure acetone-soaked cotton wool pressing against the gel for at least 10 mins (ideally 15). If soaked for long enough, the gel should slide off with the foil and cotton. You can gently remove any left over gel with an orange stick (metal implements can dent the nail).
