20.01.2022 How about some Nordic folk music? Here’s Phoenix Collective Quartet playing Waltz after Lasse in Lyby, a tune about a poor wondering minstrel, so poor he used to wind down his strings so they would last for longer. You can hear the cold winter in this Southern Swedish tune and the fiddlers beautiful sad soul. We have our next PC | Digital Session coming out soon. A collection of Nordic folk tunes paired with footage of beautiful Scandinavian country side. ... This music has been arranged by the Danish String Quartet, from their acclaimed Wood Works album.

16.01.2022 REVIEW | "The opening movement is gentle and reflective as well as rich and lush and, like previously, the players produced beautiful balance and blend. The second movement is turbulent with rapid paced accompaniment against long-bowed, melodic phrases before a slow, haunting section, again with elongated melodies, but more delicate accompaniment. The demanding rhythm of the unison playing towards the end was particularly accurate and spectacular. The expressive third movemen...t was wonderfully played, with a passionate gypsy-like feel contrasted against peaceful and calm pastoral melodies then the hustle and bustle of a majestic final movement made for a dramatic and triumphant conclusion. This was an enjoyable concert of many musical emotions presented by two fine musicians, who certainly seemed to relish the opportunity to return to the concert stage. 04.01.2022 Super pumped to be releasing Phoenix Collective's 2021 season. Such amazing musicians and great programs. The cherry on top is our fresh and informal lunchtime concert series for the people of Potts Point, Kings Cross and surrounding suburbs. Set at the iconic Wayside Chapel, the concerts are primarily targeted at people who have never experienced live classical music or don’t have the means to. ... Wayside Chapel supports vulnerable members of the community and mental health projects. These concerts would be open to people of all walks of life and we will play music that is all-inclusive, integrating and focused on bringing people together. These concerts have been made possible and funded by Judith Neilson AM (White Rabbit / Phoenix Central Park) and we are very thankful. More @ pcmusic.net
