17.01.2022 After setting your macro goal/goals, it's time to create a schedule. A schedule will ensure consistency, which is key to success in your studies. Why is this? Consider student A who studies a productive 2 hours, every day, for a total of 14 hours a week. Now consider, student B who studies sporadically when they have random bursts of motivation and so studies 5 hours one day and decides to reward themselves with a 1 day break. This 1 day break turns into a 2 day break which ...turns into a 3 day break. The student then gets another burst of motivation to study and studies 5 hours that day. In the week, student B ended up studying only 10 hours and it's likely these hours weren't as productive as student A's. Having a schedule will regulate how much you study and get you into a rhythm which will help you continue to study even on days you are feeling unmotivated. Note that simply studying a certain number of hours won't get results, these hours have to be as productive as possible. This can be achieved through setting micro goals (Part 3 of study tips). For advice on how much to study and help creating a schedule, feel free to DM us!

12.01.2022 Congratulations year 12s on finishing your trials! Everyone should well and truly be finished by now with most of you guys getting back results. 10.01.2022 Most of you guys will be starting your trials around this time. For those who have already finished, congratulations! The trials is arguably the hardest part of your HSC journey. First order of business after finishing them is to be proud of getting through this hurdle and all that you've achieved throughout the year. When you finish your trials, it's time to start planning for the endgame - your HSC exams.... We recommend taking a 1-1.5 week break to completely relax and recharge before getting back in to study. It's easy to burn out if you don't gice yourself this down time. Be careful not to over indulge as you don't want your break to go on for too long. Next, start to think about what you did well and not so well during trials and the lead up to it. Think about how you can improve on your weaknesses. Once marks come out, you'll have a clear idea of your strengths and weaknesses. If you didnt do as well as you expected, don't worry! The HSC is worth 50% of your total mark, so plenty of improvements can be made! If you have any questions regarding your HSC exams, feel free to DM us!

We have a team of extremely knowledgeable, experienced and friendly mentors who are eager to help you succeed. So what are you waiting for? Book your free trial now!
09.01.2022 After creating your schedule, the next key step is to form micro goals when studying each day. For example, Billy has set a macro goal to achieve a 97 ATAR (Study tip 1). Then, through asking his tutors, teachers and past students, he has found that he must study 3 hours a day (excluding any homework). From this information, Billy has created a weekly schedule (Study tip 2). The next step for Billy is to set micro goals everyday for each study hour. Without these micro goals,... study time will be aimless and therefore will be ineffective and inefficient. Micro goals will push you to study as much as possible within your allocated study time. It's best to make your micro goals as specific as possible to give further clarity for what you're working towards in your study time. For example, Billy is going to do 1 hour of Math study, 1 hour of English study and 1 hour of Physics study on Monday. Billy decides on the following micro goals for Monday: Math: complete at least 20 revision questions from trigonometric proofs English: complete a draft paragraph for Module A essay Physics: complete making notes and flashcards on at least 1 dot point Billy's schedule incorporates a 20 minute break between each hour of study (breaks are super important) and so having started his study at 6pm, Billy has finished his PHAT study pump at 10pm (he procrastinated a little and so had to stop his timer). Billy then unwinds with an hour of his favourite TV show and goes to sleep feeling well accomplished and ready to take on tomorrow.

07.01.2022 Words to live by
07.01.2022 The first step in developing good study habits and skills is to set macro goals. This is something that you will work towards over a large period of time. This can be a goal you want to work towards over the term, over the year or over several years. For example, if you are in year 12 at the moment, you could set your goal to move up 5 ranks over the next term. If you are in year 10, it could be the ATAR you are aiming for in year 12. It is important to have a macro goal so t...hat you can create an effective study schedule and set accurate micro goals (covered in the next two posts). Setting a macro goal allows you to hold yourself accountable and work consistently. Your macro goal is the poster on your wall that motivates you keep pushing as hard as possible when the going gets tough. If you haven't set a macro goal yet, think about what you want to achieve, why you want to achieve it, and set one as soon as possible. Make sure your goal is reasonable and achievable as setting a goal that is unattainable can be demotivating. If you've already set a goal, reflect on whether you have been working towards your goal effectively, and if not, what you can do to improve. We'd love to hear what your macro goals are, so comment them below!

04.01.2022 If you're in year 11, you're only a few short weeks from becoming year 12 students. It can seem a bit daunting, so we rounded up a few year 12s to share a few words of wisdom for those who wish to excel next year. Mina Andrawis is an excellent student who is currently rank 1 in almost all of his subjects. Let's hear what he has to say.
02.01.2022 With prelims fast approaching, it's time to really buckle down. But what exactly should you be doing? There are about 3 weeks until prelims and let's be real most of us think that's plenty of time, but it's really not. Think about it like this, you've got 6 subjects, which means half a week per subject to study! That is barely enough time. The old saying goes "fail to plan, plan to fail" and it could not be more true for your upcoming exams, especially becuase of how little... time is left. So, the first thing to do is come up with a meticulous plan of what you'll be studying each day until the day of your exams. This plan will help you see the monumental task at hand and motivate you to study hard. We recommend studying 4 hours a day on week days and 6 on weekends. If that sounds like a lot, again, its really not. Between 6 subiects, thats only a total of 16 hours of per subject over the 3 weeks until your exams. This will also be good practice for when you're in year 12. Big exams like this are hard to tackle, but can be conquered through practice and planning. If you have any questions, feel free to DM us!
