09.01.2022 Hello beautiful humans I get told often that Ive achieved much because I must be so brave and confident, always willing to put up my hand and give things a go. Can I share a little secret?... Im a perfectionist who doesnt like to make mistakes and get things wrong. Im fearful of trying new things because what if I stuff up? What if it doesnt work? What if I fail? Those were and sometimes still are the thoughts that go round in my head when presented with a new opportunity. Thankfully, in my late teens, I heard the saying if youre comfortable, youre not growing and realized that I will always be uncomfortable if I dont try. Although I may not know everything, there is nothing that I cant learn. The one thing I wasnt afraid of, was learning! I love learning! So I traded a thought for a thought. What if I make a mistake? for What if I learned something new? What if that something new connected me to another lesson, another person, another opportunity? What if I shared what I learned and it made a difference to someone elses life? It may sound super altruistic but if through making many mistakes, I can make a positive impact to at least one fellow human, then Ill risk taking on the unfamiliar and endure the discomfort. That change in thought has enriched my life in so many amazing ways and Im so grateful to have had that realization.
