05.02.2022 Tips to start improving your fitness and health 1. Start by figuring out what areas you want to improve? Is it weightloss? Getting into a routine for exercising? Nutrition? Improving strength? Toning up? 2. Figure out what type of exercise you want to do. If you don’t know, then try different things, try yoga class, strength training, cardio etc. You will never know unless you try it out.... 3. Look honestly at your schedule, figure out what days you can exercise, figure out how much time you are willing to commit to exercise eg. 45 minutes 3-4 times a week, pick a time then once that is established you can build up to your main goal. It is easier to build up slowly and create a routine. 4. Get advice, from either a PT or Online Trainer, they can give you advice to be able to maximise your time and get the best results as well as give you accountability. Prices will vary but it is an investment in your health and is worth looking at your options, it may be more affordable than you think. 5. Regularly challenge yourself- your routine can become tedious and by changing your program you can not only challenge your body but also challenge your mind. 6. Try different recipes and ways of cooking, you can learn to find new things that you enjoy. 7. Set goals and review them regularly, they can be related to fitness, weight, strength or routine. Whatever your goals are make them something you will feel proud of not only when you achieve them but while you are working toward them. 8. Take time to appreciate how far you have come, what progress you have made, where you want to make progress and what you are proud of. 9. Be prepared to make mistakes, everyone has things that happen that interfere with their goals and plans, whether they are fitness related, work related or social. The most important thing is to learn from them and to continue on. 10. 12.01.2022 I have just started on a new phase of my weightloss and fitness goals. After gaining 15 kgs in just under a year due to medication and hormone imbalance I have stopped the medication and am balancing my hormones naturally. I started on this medication because I was having difficulty with my hormones and while it helped initially the weight gain and other side effects were causing more problems and making it extremely difficult to lose weight. Since starting on my weightloss i...n 2015 I have built up to exercising 6 days a week, improving my strength and improving my diet. When looking into different options for medications I was aware of the risks of gaining weight, but both myself and my doctor were sure that because I had changed my lifestyle and was exercising and eating healthily I should not have major problems with weight gain. I maintained my exercise and healthy eating while I was on the medication. Since stopping the medication over the last 2 weeks I have started to see a shift in my measurements and a small drop on the scales. I believe that many people struggle to lose weight because their hormones are affecting the ability to lose weight. I have been through the struggle of doing everything ‘right’ but not seeing any results. Medication also caused more weight gain for me and while I am not anti-medication I believe that it is important to find a solution that is good for you. Asking questions, doing research and finding what works best for you is so important. Medications work differently for different people and it is important to acknowledge that there can be underlying causes of why you are not losing weight. If you have concerns about this it is worth investigating and looking after your health. There are solutions to these problems and the benefits go far beyond weightloss. 08.01.2022 If a workout plan, exercise machine or diet claims that ‘all the hard work is done for you’, 100% effective(when done under a professional supervision), minimum effort, max gain etc. the chances are that it’s too good to be true. Most diets and exercises will work if you are consistent and have accountability to stick to it, but there is no quick fix. Changing your lifestyle can be daunting but it doesn’t need to be drastic and cut out all the things you enjoy in life. Working for the things you are passionate about is worth the struggle.
