24.01.2022 COVID UPDATE From midnight Sunday all of regional Victoria will be required to wear facemarks when away from their home. It is inconvenient but a small sacrifice to avoid more stringent restrictions and keep us safe. As a result there will be a few changes to our business from Sunday until further notice. - visits to the studio will be be appointment only ... - we will not be taking bookings that involve photographing people in public or in the studio (as you and I will both need to wear a mask) What we can do... - photograph your airbnb, retreat, villa, apartment etc to update your website/social media etc to ensure your imagery is ready for visitors when they return to the high country - Pet photography - Farm photography - Food and product photography - Mentoring - one - one sessions with me - Sports photography (for those leagues not cancelled) - Landscape photography If you are in need of photography and not sure whether it can proceed due to the changes please be in touch to discuss your situation.

22.01.2022 Regional Victoria breathes a sign of relief this morning with Covid-19 restrictions being eased today. Hopefully it won't be too long before our Melbourne friends and family are also able to enjoy the beauty of our backyard.

20.01.2022 EXHIBITION UPDATE Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Covid 19 restrictions and the cancellation of this years High Country Festival, our planned exhibit...ion will be postpone until 2021. In the meantime we will continue to share some of the many images captured during the Project and will keep you informed of any developments. This image is one of my favourites...as it belies the reality of its capture. "The planets aligned today. I was in the right place, at the right time with a cow silhouetted beautifully against a pink sky with the Paps in the background. It is unmistakably a cow in a landscape that is unmistakably Mansfield. But this simple, serene images is deceptive. It doesn't show the photographer driving through a farm desperately seeking the perfect position to photograph as the sun sets, sticking to the graded tracks as she'd left the 4wd at home. It doesn't show the photographer realising the only way to get close enough to the cows was to leave the safety of the car and trek through the paddocks (without workbooks), dodging cow pats unsuccessfully. It doesn't show the excitement as pinks, oranges and magenta light up the sky only to realise that the cows were in the shadows. It doesn't show the photographer look back to only just be able to make out the car in the distance; torn between getting the perfect shot and the safety of the car. It doesn't show her face as a single cow moves perfectly into the frame and the shutter is depressed. It doesn't show the photographer desperately making slight adjustments with composition until it was near perfect. It doesn't show the relief as she looks at he digital screen to find she had actually captured the beauty of what was in front of her or the tears of happiness as she treks back to the car through the cow pats."

13.01.2022 Had the privilege of photographing an assisted calf delivery late yesterday. It all went very smoothly and mum showed all the signs of bonding well with her calf. The experience was incredible and left me smiling all the way home. The more I spend time on farms the more I love it!

13.01.2022 The moon surrounded by a perfect ring was spectacular on the evening of the 31st July, 2020. Although it is a fairly common occurrence, its the first time I'd witnessed it. It is apparently "caused by the refraction of moonlight through ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere".

12.01.2022 When I booked Melissa Alagich Photography to capture my first grand child as a newborn I cried. It was at that moment I finally admitted to myself that we wouldn't be travelling to South Australia from Victoria for his birth due to the Covid 19 restrictions. I had planned to capture Hugo's newborn photos myself and to hand this over to another photographer was hard. The tears welled up again this morning as I looked at my precious grandson and the serious expression I saw so often on his dad as a little boy and I am so grateful that we have these images. Thank you Melissa these are exactly what I had hoped for.

06.01.2022 As a professional photographer Im always looking to develop new skills and learn from other professionals. Last year I travelled to New Zealand to attend one of Brett Wood Photo Art tours. The combination of Bretts skill and enthusiasm for his craft, the stunning landscape of New Zealands South Island and great company from professionals and hobbyists on the tour made for an incredible week. One of my images taken during the tour now appears on his VIP group cover page (Ill attach the image in the comments below). Once the borders open up I cant wait to get back to New Zealand. 04.01.2022 During Covid 19 restrictions we have been busy in the studio photographing a range of meat products for Alpine Butchery and their soon to be released online store (stay tuned). While shooting this Greek Gyrus Butterflied Leg it I decided to capture a pull back shot to show a bit of behind the scenes chaos. I'll pop the finished image in the comments below.

01.01.2022 First day yesterday of many over the next 12 months on a sheep and cattle farm and it was COLD -2.5 degrees according to my car and FOGGY! Very excited about the possibilities to capture some amazing images on this property.

01.01.2022 Following up from my photos at the Plain Creek waterfall a few weeks ago, this weekend I was in the King Valley so took the opportunity to visit Paradise Falls just outside of Cheshunt. While beautiful, this waterfall is a little difficult to photograph. Unless we've just had heavy rain it appears as two long streams and disappears completely during the warmer months. You can navigate to the bottom of the waterfall but due to rocks and trees it is difficult to capture an image of the waterfall in its entirety. This waterfall is approximately 500 metres from the main carpark but make sure you choose the correct path as it is not well signed - it is a well made stepped track that takes you to a viewing platform.
