24.01.2022 Today is the International Day of People with Disability and the theme is "Challenge the way you think about disability, and see the ability in disability". This theme is promoting Awareness, Understanding and Acceptance. Who do you know that has a lived experience of disability? There might be more than you think. In fact, 4.4 million Australians experience disability every year and they are from all walks of life. My passion is helping people who experience psychosocial dis...ability. "Psychosocial disability is a term used to describe a disability that may arise from a mental health issue. (NDIS) Psychosocial disability is not about a diagnosis, it is about the functional impact and barriers which may be faced by someone living with a mental health condition. A psychosocial disability arises when someone with a mental health condition interacts with a social environment that presents barriers to their equality with others. A psychosocial disability may restrict a person’s ability to: - be in certain types of environments concentrate - have enough stamina to complete tasks - cope with time pressures and multiple tasks - interact with others - understand constructive feedback - manage stress. I believe that a person experiencing mental health issues can live a full and meaningful life and I am dedicated to helping to facilitate independence, hope, healthy relationships and life choices. How are you going to show awareness, understanding and acceptance? Let me know in the comments below. #IDPWD2020 #IDPWD #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #BeAPhynix

06.01.2022 Have you ever had times when you just want to crawl into a hole and not come out? This is how I felt today running the last of my online workshops this year. I had everything set to go last night before going to work. I had quadruple checked everything. All my tech was sorted.... But when I got home this morning, the PC had done a reset. It took forever to load everything, then Zoom didn't want to connect. I had to restart - 10 minutes out from GO LIVE. Multiple participants had messaged they didn't have to link for the call, then multiple people couldn't get their cameras to work or their microphones to work. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH! In the past I would have bailed. I would have rescheduled people and probably lost business. Instead, I persisted. I acknowledge the challenges and related it to the content. My lessons from today are - Take a breath, tell the negative voices in the head they aren't being helpful, go with the basics and be flexible. What have you learnt today, let me know in the comments? #BeAPhynix #Resilience #keepgoing #dontgiveup #mentalhealthawareness
