18.02.2022 A message for our regulars! We know it's often really tough to get same or next day appointments with our team, but today we have several appointments available at both clinics! Jess L and Jess W have an appointment each at Aldinga, and Danni, Leon and Janhavi have a couple of appointments available at McLaren Vale. There are a handful left on Thursday and Friday also, such a rarity! These would suit new problems, or follow ups. Get in quick if you would like to duck in today or this evening! Ph 8323 8058.

04.02.2022 As SA gears itself for a rough patch, this is a lovely reminder to always be kind! This post reminds us of the time one of our long term patients, the lovely Jacqui Daly stopped at Romeo’s recently as Lauren was trying to melt into the floor while clutching two *screaming* (like beyond repair meltdown screaming) children and a full trolley half way unpacked at the checkout, with a reassuring smile she said can I unpack that trolley for you love? Yes! Please!! Thank you, thank you!

23.01.2022 And we’re back baby! What wonderful news for South Australia! We will be open for consultations and land based group sessions as usual from Monday 8am! The only still to be confirmed service is our pool consultations and groups, we will update you as soon as we have confirmation regarding pool access. ... Staff will be wearing masks if we can’t be 1.5m away, in addition to our usual hygiene routines, we encourage you to do the same, and please do stay away if you are at all unwell. Now, onto rescheduling our 12 physios! If you have a forward booking from Monday onwards, it still stands. You will receive a confirmation sms and/or email the day prior. Please let us know asap if you no longer want your appointment. If you had an appointment booked on Thursday, Friday or Saturday our lovely admin staff will working from home and be contacting you all today or tomorrow to find you a new spot. HOWEVER if you are super eager for an appointment, or need to make a new one please do let us know! The sooner we know, the more likely we are to find you an appointment in the coming days. Our dedicated physios have opened up new appointment slots wherever possible. Please email: [email protected] Our staff will call you back ASAP. Please let us know how urgent it is, who you’d like to see and when you are available. Thank you all for your patience as we all hold onto our hats together! Regards, the Physio Alive team

22.01.2022 STAFFING UPDATE We are delighted to welcome our new physiotherapist Jess Watson Jess comes to us with over 10 years private practice and community physiotherapy experience and has a special interest in neck and spinal pain including cervicogenic headaches, orthopaedic rehabilitation, knee and hip osteoarthritis, dizziness/vertigo, vestibular dysfunction (including BPPV) and neurological rehabilitation. ... Jess is passionate about providing her clients with optimal and personalised care. She utilizes evidence based techniques and prescriptive exercise to help set her clients up for long-term success. Please say hello if you see Jess around the clinic, she’s proven extremely popular already and we know she’ll be a wonderful addition to our Physio Alive family.

22.01.2022 Further to our last update How are you hanging in there Physio Alive family? What an unprecedented new world we are navigating together ... As per current government directives Physio Alive is open to help you with you Physiotherapy needs at this challenging time. Our aims are simple- to keep you moving, and out of GP clinics and hospitals through this period. We are offering consultations as usual and some very small group exercise sessions, no more than a ratio of 3:1 to ensure there is no sharing of equipment and a large social distance allowance. Our pool sessions have however been suspended Our physios are working with you all to consider the best path forward for your Physiotherapy and rehabilitation needs at this time of social distancing. We have wonderful software for home exercise programs which you can access from a free app on your device, please reach out to have your own program designed for you, it can be done from a distance! We are busily setting up our telehealth services so that we can continue to care for you from afar - more updates are to come but there is some very exciting news being finalised and emerging in the coming week....... drumroll..... Private Health Insurance Australia has announced that telehealth sessions with your physio will be funded (in many circumstances) from April 14!! Third party payers such as Medicare, Return to Work SA, and motor vehicle accident insurance bodies are set to follow suit very soon, so watch this space! Please reach out if we can help you in the clinic or via telehealth (phone or video consult), we are here for you!

21.01.2022 Our team is incredibly passionate about providing a holistic pre and post partum physiotherapy service to our patients. We see the far reaching benefits of our support, education and exercise programs for new (and not so new) mums each and every day. BUT..... Private practice only captures a small percentage of Australian women.... we would DEARLY love to see the introduction of Medicare funded physiotherapy services so that this important service can be offered to ALL new... mothers, not just the select few who can fund private care themselves. Did you know that in some parts of Europe, all new mothers receive TEN publicly funded pelvic floor physiotherapy sessions? Australia is sadly lacking in this department, for the vast majority, we get ZERO! Please read and consider signing and sharing this petition to show your support. http://chng.it/6fgz2v9Q8Z

21.01.2022 Remember our recent post regarding the petition to improve pelvic health services for pregnant and post partum women in Australia?.... Progress is afoot! Our friend and colleague Lyz Evans from Women in Focus Physiotherapy in Sydney is helping to lead the charge. This is exciting news for our profession and for women of Australia!

20.01.2022 Look at this snazzy bunch! A chance to sit back at reflect on the year that was 2021, it’s been fabulous! We welcomed quite a few new faces to the team this year (Aleisha, Danielle, Leon, Emma and Kate). Our hardworking physio and admin teams work so very hard all year round, it’s a lovely chance to get (nearly) the whole team together to celebrate. Thank you to the glorious Beach Road Wines for hosting us with such exceptional hospitality, the delicious pizza and the wine!

14.01.2022 Much deliciousness was had in the clinic today! Thank you to Courtney’s mum Julianne for her surprise delivery, and to Tealicious for these gorgeous treats... and a very happy birthday to Courtney!

14.01.2022 This weekend our team gathered to celebrate the professional and personal rollercoaster that was 2020. A chance to give thanks to our talented, passionate and hard working team that make up the Physio Alive family. Day in and day out this amazing bunch have cared for our patients and for each other throughout this very challenging year, there have been some BIG ups and downs! We are looking forward to 2021, we have some exciting plans in the pipeline! Huge thank you to Maria and her wonderful staff at Vasarelli Cellar Door for our delicious meals

13.01.2022 An update for our patients: Monday November 16th As it stands today, our current consults and classes are scheduled to run as normal. We are a medical/rehabilitation facility and not a public gym and thus are permitted to continue our sessions in a physically distanced manner as has been the case for the last few months. Please rest assured that we will be continuing to enforce strict cleaning procedures and a strict cap on numbers. We appreciate your patience at this time and of course ask that you do not attend if you are at all unwell. If the advice changes, we will update this page and send out texts to any affected patients. Sincerely, the Physio Alive team.

13.01.2022 Student Pelvic Health Consultations available in November for women and men at Physio Alive! - Do you have a pelvic health concern? (ie leaking of urine or faeces, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, painful intercourse, bowel troubles, recent surgery to name a few)... - Are you available for 1, or ideally 2 consultations at McLaren Vale between the 8th-16th November? - Perhaps the cost of pelvic health consultations been a major barrier for accessing treatment? (We are so delighted to offer this reduced fee service!) Now is the time to reach out to us for some help! During the aforementioned dates, we have consults available with a fully qualified physio named Elizabeth Eske who is undertaking the final clinical placement of her Masters degree in Pelvic health from Curtin Uni. Lauren and Ginny are working as her supervisors and one of them will be present during the consults, and will be available to take over your ongoing care once Elizabeth is finished. The cost of these student sessions is a vastly reduced $55, with consults between 60-90 mins. If you have a Medicare Care Plan this will cover the cost of the session entirely, or if you have private health insurance there would be a minimal gap. We only have a handful of spots left, so don't delay if you would like an appointment! Ph 8323 8058 to book.

11.01.2022 Phew, what a week we’ve all had. Like all of you, in your own lives and workplaces, in the face of COVID-19 our team and the Physiotherapy profession as a whole has faced uncertainties, challenges and changes, all in a very short period of time. But! We are happy to report that our amazing team of 20 have worked tirelessly together (from a distance!) adapting to the rapidly changing advice from the health department and our professional body, the APA. No doubt it will cont...Continue reading

09.01.2022 Following the SA government directives announced this afternoon, we wish to inform our valued patients that our clinics will be closed during this 6 day circuit breaker. We very much hope that the numbers remain low in SA and we will be back in our rooms for consultations from Wednesday 25th November. We will post if further updates are applicable in the coming week and we will be in touch with those of you who need appointments in the week/s ahead, or please do reach out to ...us. Sincerely, Matt, Lauren and Brea and the Physio Alive team.

07.01.2022 ONLINE SERVICES ARE ON THE WAY! We are so pleased to announce that our online services are being fine tuned and are nearly ready to officially launch! The picture below is Lauren’s kids testing out the new telehealth platform within our practice management software, reading a book with their nanna in isolation.... it’s working a treat and is fully integrated with our existing and secure systems! Regarding Consults:... We are still offering face to face consults for those who need it, and whom are not within vulnerable groups. For those who would prefer or need to self isolate, we can now offer telehealth video or phone consultations. More info is to come soon! Regarding Classes: We have now cancelled all face classes (as of Monday 30th March) BUT .... We are working hard on a coordinated system of online classes with your usual familiar faces!! Soon you will be able to book and pay online and attend a group session with a physio via zoom from the comfort of your lounge room or backyard! How cool is that?! There is no need to let your rehab or wellness goals drop off at this challenging time. We will keep you moving!

05.01.2022 NEWSFLASH...... GROUP EXERCISE SESSIONS ARE BACK! The team at Physio Alive are OVER THE MOON to announce the resumption of our land based equipment and mat group exercise sessions! Rest assured, our generous gym spaces allow us to maintain social distancing from each other. Class sizes will be strictly limited and starting times more spread out than usual to allow for cleaning of all equipment between uses. ... We appreciate your patience if your usual or preferred time slot is not available as we restart our adjusted timetables. Please don’t be shy, let us know your preferences as we can add new groups as needed in the coming weeks. While high-fives and hugs are still being withheld, we will be grinning! We’ve missed our groups so much! If you have not attended group physiotherapy sessions with us before, or if your needs have changed, you will first be booked for an individual assessment with one of our dedicated physiotherapists. All of our sessions are run by qualified physios, with individually tailored programs. Health fund rebates apply for all sessions. To book, please call McLaren Vale on 8323 8058 or Aldinga on 8556 5150 or you can email [email protected] (And a PS .... pool sessions are still on hold but we hope to have another announcement in the not too distant future)
