25.01.2022 We had the most amazing aai bowls at @komunebali, I have been trying to make them at home. They dont quite look as good but taste great all the same!! Smoothie bowl base: Frozen berries or acai Fresh orange chunks... Frozen mango Frozen pineapple 1tbs Honey (optional) 1/4 cup coconut yoghurt 1-Blended up. 2-Then place a layer of granola, muesli or nuts and seeds as a base. 3-Put a layer of frozen smoothie over the base 4- then top it with more granola/muesli/nuts and seeds, and fresh fruit. I like banana, kiwi fruit, blueberries, strawberries, fresh pineapple. But you can put whatever you like (or have on hand!) I used to find I would get an upset tummy from smoothie bowls as the oats in granola and muesli bothers me. I am TERRIBLE at cutting calories and following a diet I love my food way too much When I was young I would try dieting I would eat my small salad and then end up binging on a whole loaf of bread and chocolate later What I discovered when I found this whole food plant based way of eating is that I can eat as much as I want and still loose w...eight and keep it off! Recipe: 200g dried apricots 1/2 cup (60g) almond meal ... 1 cup (80g) dessicated coconut 3tbsp honey Mix it all together and roll in coconut! This is my type of go-to snack for when Im having a sugar craving. I find it I just try and deny myself completely of anything sweet I end up splurging on something unhealthy. 21.01.2022 The key to success in living a healthy lifestyle is loving it!! Eating a healthy diet: find recipes that you love! Dont waste time gagging on that boring salad. Find recipes that add flavour to veges so that you want to eat it. It might take time to find things that you enjoy but its an investment into you. One thing I do is when I do eat out, I always find healthy cafes or restaurants and get great inspiration for them. Exercise: Dont see it as a punishment or you wil...l never want to do it day in, day out. Find some type of exercise that you love and look forward to each day. It might be walking, running, weights, pilates, yoga, basketball, tennis, swimming. Anything where you move your body and strengthen your muscles will make you feel strong and healthy. Then dont forget sleep! This is something I am lacking with 2 little kids #mumlife. So I know how important it is But sleep always makes you more likely to want to eat right and exercise. 18.01.2022 Many women are worried about doing weights because they think it will make them look bulky. I have been doing weights for about 5 years now, 2 pregnancies in that time have slowed down my progress! But an increase in muscle size has been my goal for a while and Im definitely not bulky. Women dont have the same hormonal profile as men so its more difficult for women to put on size. Women that do have big muscles have been lifting heavy, been very targeted with their train...ing and supplementing for a long time to get where they are. Lifting weights and having more muscle mass increases your metabolism so that means your burning more calories at rest! 17.01.2022 Choc chip Anzac cookies. (Wholegrain, refined sugar free, can be vegan and dairy free) My son loves to bake! I would prefer him to eat treats that we have cooked together so I can atleast control the amount of sugar in them. This is my favourite healthy cookie recipe created by @wellnourished ... Recipe 100g butter (coconut oil if dairy free) 1/4 cup of honey/maple syrup or rice malt syrup 1/2 tsp bicarbonate Soda 1 cup wholegrain spelt (almond flour if GF) 1/2 cup dessicated coconut 1 1/4 cup oats 1/4-1/2 cup dark chocolate chips Method Preheat the oven to 180/350 and line a large biscuit tray with baking paper. In a large pot, gently heat the butter and honey or rice syrup until melted. Remove from the heat. Add the bicarbonate of soda and mix very well. Add the rest of the ingredients to the pot, and mix until well combined. The mixture should feel wet and sticky but presses together. With wet hands roll the mixture into approximately golf sized balls and place well apart (they do spread) on a large biscuit tray. Have a lay down on it and turn it into an exercise! 1 - bring one leg up, alternating legs 20 (10 each side)... 2 - bring both legs up, alternating the leg that leads, x 15 3 - toe taps, bring both legs up. Then tap one toes one at a time down to the floor. Dont place it on the floor, just touch it. X 20, 10 each side 4 - bring one leg up and leave it there, being opposite arm into the air and then bring it out to the side. You can add a light weight here if you like. X 15 each side 5 - progression from number 4, extend the leg in the air as you open the arm out. X 15 each side 6 - relax and open your arms out to the side to stretch across the chest Tip: to activate lower abs make sure you back is staying flat on the roller and its not arching away. 14.01.2022 Its easy to look at ourselves in the mirror and see the imperfections; scars, unwanted fat, saggy skin, or stretch marks. I used to be very self conscious of my body when I was young. Since my teenage years I have experienced injuries, surgeries, 2 miscarriages and 2 pregnancies. I am now in absolutely awe of what my body can do. I still have stretch marks and scars. But I now look at my beautiful boys and Im so grateful for the journey Ive been on. ... I also learnt that I can do hard things, that my health is largely in my hands. Now instead of seeing my scars as ugly Im excited to see what else I can achieve.

Upright row 3-4 sets of 10 each exercise When I first started shoulder exercises it felt foreign, I was a cardio girl who only knew how to run, ride and do Pilates. But I decided I wanted to start weights to help me with some shoulder and back issues I was having. I was so surprised at how weak I was!! I could only lift 1kg with proper form, I felt really silly standing next to guys lifting these massive weights next to me. But gradually I have gotten stronger and now I dont feel dumb standing at the weights rack anymore... I do enjoy a HIIT session occasionally but I cant do it more then once a week as I find it takes all my energy the next day... and That might be ok for someone sitting at a desk, but I have to keep up with 2 crazy boys all day I love weights, walking and Pilates. There are many exercises that are done in both yoga and Pilates so there will be a fair bit of overlap, but overall they do have a slightly different focus. In general the focus of Pilates is on muscular strength and control. Whereas yoga focuses on stretching, flexibility and the well-being of the mind. Pilates involves using exercise apparatus like small weighted balls, large exercise balls, disks, or ...a trapeze table; all you need for Yoga is a mat. In answer to this question I usually suggest people to try both and see which they prefer! Both are amazing!! I dont do Pilates everyday, mostly I do it 1 or 2 x per week. 05.01.2022 This was me today!! I had a busy day with the kids, trying to get housework, paperwork and errands done. I went to the gym feeling tired and frustrated. After my first exercise I thought about finishing my workout and going any sitting in the change room while my kids were in crèche But I did my second exercise and energy picked up, by my third exercise I had forgotten the day and was into my workout. Only add the professions if you can keep your deep abdominals activated, your back down and your tummy isnt peaking. 02.01.2022 I love weight training! It makes me feel strong and gives me energy. Often people think you are into 1 type of exercise, either you run or cycle, your the yoga/pilates type of person or your a body builder. Reality is that our bodies need a variety of training to stay strong and healthy. Too much weights training and you get shortened tight muscles which can lead to injury. Too much cardio and you can get overuse injuries in the knees/hips/ankles or back. If you only do Pila...tes and yoga you miss out on the benefits for the cardiovascular system. The best a variety of training to target all areas; strength, stability, control, cardiovascular health and balance.
