23.01.2022 I have tried and tested TeleHealth during my many years travel on the Tour. I believe it to be a very effective form of physiotherapy treatment and management. We are all facing this pandemic together, but that doesnt mean that your recurring injuries, chronic pain, new injuries wont still occur. They will. Here is a tried and tested way which we at Melbourne Tennis Physio and Physio4athletes can assist you all in staying as healthy as possible during these stressful and unknown times.
21.01.2022 My favourite tournament of all. There have been many amazing achievements by the Aussie players I worked with- Ash Barty and Luke Saville winning juniors, Nicks breakout year beating Nadal and getting to the quarters, Casey and Ash at the doubles final, and many many more. Its a strange time for us all, but we know Wimbledon will be back, as we all will be - bigger and better than ever.
21.01.2022 Interesting article. I think common sense must prevail when introducing gym work and then weight training to our younger athletes. In the early years it is so important to develop good technique for commonly performed exercises so that the athletes are prepared when weight resistance is introduced. Developing good body awareness and good motor skills in our young athletes is a must, especially when their bodies are growing and changing at different rates. Throughout these years each child goes through phases of loss of spatial awareness, loss of stability so to overload during these phases can be a predictor of injury. This is always an interesting conversation to have.
20.01.2022 Whilst disappointing for Ash to see her dream summer come to an end, we can be sure that her future ahead shine very brightly. How inspirational has it been watching Kvitovas rise back to the top of her game.
18.01.2022 Every tennis players dreams of winning in their home town! Congrats Alex J Bolt. Keep fighting.
14.01.2022 The new heat rules will come into effect this year. Professor Ollie Jay has been researching a new means of recording heat stress. The new system will take into account air temperature, radiant heat, humidity and wind speed, giving a real-time reading which then spits out a number between one and five. Previously, humidity and temperature were taken into account using the wet bulb globe thermometer, and potential changes/breaks in hot temperature. With the new system a heat ...stress rating of one would be the lowest, while play will be suspended on outside courts when the scale reaches five, with the roof being closed on Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena and Melbourne Arena to allow play to continue. Should the scale reach four, the players will have a ten-minute break between the second and third set in the womens draw and third and fourth set in the mens draw. Lets hope play wont have to be disrupted too often.
14.01.2022 What an amazing step forward for Ash! Fabulous to see her advancing so confidently, and obviously really enjoying playing tennis! Next up - Kvitova - sure to be a great match.
13.01.2022 Unfortunately Andrew Harris couldnt get it over the line today but he did hold his own with the number 8 seed. Not bad for a first Grand Slam appearance.
12.01.2022 I love this article. Having been lucky enough to work with both these boys for years as they have grown from juniors to fighting for their place on the world stage, I am not at all surprised at this beautiful showmanship. Tennis is a wonderful and strange sport where you regularly play against your mates, and where you warm up and prepare for your match in the same change room! Am proud of how these boys have developed.

03.01.2022 Tennis Elbow - In this blog I will review the symptoms, who gets it, the causes and my treatment advice to get you back on the court as fast as possible. Tennis elbow, or Lateral Epicondylalgia, which is the correct medical term, refers to an overuse and repetitive loading of the tendons and forearm extensor muscles on the outside of the elbow. This in turn causes pain, mostly at the elbow and down into the forearm. It can be a very debilitating injury if left untreated for ...Continue reading

01.01.2022 We are all worried right now but we will be fine in time . For a little light relief and encouragement: this is my home town of Dublin, someone out in a car praying for us all and complete with a statue of St Mary on top! God bless the Irish, and thanks for the prayers!
