23.01.2022 PLANK SHOULDER FLEXION ON FOAM ROLLER [Serratus Anterior] To perform this exercise-first begin in a plank or modified plank position. I would recommend beginni...ng in the modified position when first performing this exercise. Make sure your knees, hips, and shoulder are all in one line. Once you find your starting position, engage your shoulder blades by protracting them or pushing them away from your body. Push the roller away from you as far forward as you can. Drive this motion with your elbows, you should notice your shoulder blades moving at the same time into an upward rotation. Return back to neutral and repeat. I like to hold onto a band and create some tension. The goal here is to minimize pec activation and bias the serratus anterior here. The band will also work the muscles on the back of the shoulder. You will need to keep your core engaged as well. Once you relax your core, your lower back will fall into an arched position. Not good! If overall too difficult, swipe left. You will see a variation that is overall much less demanding. This exercise is about CONTROL. Progress the exercise from standing modified plank full plank as you improve your strength and control. Shoulder aches and pains often get neglected until its too late, turning a minor fixable ache into a potential chronic pain and debilitating issue. Using the latest evidence-based research and our clinical experience, we have pioneered a very safe and effective Shoulder [P]Rehab Program, visit https://theprehabguys.com/shoulder-prehab-program/ for more!! ______________________________________________________ This Shoulder [P]Rehab program includes: 16- -- 100 a #prehab #theprehabguys #TPG #fitness #exercise #PT #DPT #DPTstudent #physio #physiotherapy #mobility #athlete #workout #recovery #rehab #prevention #rehabilitation #shoulder #shoulder #shoulderpain #boxermuscle #boxer #boxing #shoulderexercises #serratusanterior #serratus

15.01.2022 There are important factors to consider in returning to running/high intensity exercise after having a baby including screening from a pelvic floor physio around 12 weeks. After other injuries rehab and return to sport screening is completed before being cleared to return to play, not so much for the significant changes the body goes through with birth? Proper rehabilitation after having a baby goes such a long way in preventing pelvic floor dysfunction (incontinence and pro...lapse). Here is a great infographic from BJSM about the process/timeframe you can follow and if/when you should seek advice from a pelvic floor physio before returning to high intensity exercise..

12.01.2022 ADVANCED BIRD DOG VARIATIONS Here are some more advanced versions of the bird dog that we like to layer on once someone has mastered the traditional bird dog! ...The goal of the bird dog - no matter what the variation - is to work on resisting rotational forces through the core region. When you lift your arm + leg in the arm, you must stabilize through your remaining knee/foot and arm which naturally induces rotational forces that your body must counteract. Thus, we would label this as an anti-rotation core movement. In the bird dog row - you typically arent using the same weights you would use in a 3 point stance row or another variation because your base of support is way less. As your lower/raise the kettlebell, you induce more/less rotational forces that you must counteract. So dont go extremely heavy with these or if you wanted to - just perform a traditional row! Thank you squares and pulse versions simple add extra movement that your core has to counteract. The faster and more forceful you move, the more you have to control. Pretty plain and simple but provides a challenging stimulus when layered appropriately. Putting a foam roller on someones back is almost unfair - Craig had to film this one about 4 times! But it can be a great (and challenging) way to have some FUN while training! Last but not least, the feet up version simply gives you less of a base of support in the front to back direction. This one is also pretty tough! If youve mastered the basics of the bird dog - give these a shot! Has back pain ever limited you from doing the things you love? We have created a holistically designed system that will address every proven factor of persistent pain. Visit https://theprehabguys.com/program-low-back-prehab/ for more on our Low Back [P]Rehab Program! ______________________________________________________ This Back Pain Recovery program takes a holistic approach giving you: 100+ #prehab #theprehabguys #TPG #fitness #exercise #PT #DPT #DPTstudent #physio #physiotherapy #mobility #athlete #workout #recovery #rehab #prevention #rehabilitation #birddog #backexercises #backpain #lowback #lowbackpain

07.01.2022 UNIQUE HEEL RAISE VARIATIONS Demonstrated in this post are not your average heel raise variations Before you just jump into doing all of them for no rhyme o...r reason, let us explain to you WHY youd choose one over the other. 1 Have you ever dealt with an ankle sprain in the past? Our evertor muscles are the ones that can get injured/stretched with your average lateral ankle sprain, so you want to strengthen these backup! 2 Our inverters are important for those dealing with shin splints or flat feet issues! 3&4 Positioning the big toe into extension with heel raises adds more tension to our plantar fascia. These are staple exercises in plantar fascia cases. 5 Dont forget about the soleus! This muscle is responsible for a lot of work in power movements and often gets overlooked. 6 A great way to warm up your calf or a nice entry point for those dealing with Achilles issues Exercise with intention, ask yourself why youre performing certain exercises and movements. More importantly, think about how you move and go about life, it is very three-dimensional. The more you exercise in various planes and different movements, the more you expose your body to real-life demands, the better off youll be! 07.01.2022 Hey throwers and racquet sport athletes, checkout this great exercise! Whether you are recovering from a shoulder injury or looking to ...reduce your risk of suffering an injury, training the rotator cuff should be a component of your plan. Rotator cuff eccentrics play a critical role in injury prevention of the shoulder for overhead athletes. The horizontal weighted ball catches in the 90/90 position target the very important breaking muscles of the throwing/racquet arm. Training deceleration is just as important as training acceleration! Shoot for 3-4 reps and perform the catching action for 15-20 seconds on each repetition. Thanks to @wilk_kevin for this great video!

04.01.2022 From Niki, our pregnancy and pelvic floor specialist physio: After hearing more from pregnant patients and friends, as well as reading some upcoming studies about the increasing anxiety and mental health difficulties that pregnant and postpartum women are experiencing with our ongoing isolation and lockdown in Victoria, I have found it really hard to take as a health professional with the specific skills to provide help. At our clinic we are providing 1:1 (partners welcome) ...pregnancy and birth classes; alongside our 4:1 Zoom classes. Im running condensed classes rather than spacing them out over several weeks as usual and to cover the essentials for a smooth pregnancy, relaxing approach to birth and optimise recovery post birth. I am also very happy to answer any quick questions over email or message that anyone has to relieve any stresses or concerns! Or to point you in the direction or who might be able to help
